Story of girl allegedly raped by father in Greece

letitgo · 01/07/2022 07:51

Has anyone seen this?

It's a strange story and the daughter has waived her anonymity to sell her story on the paper but in the effort of helping her dad who is in Greek jail who she says didn't rape her.

She is unemployed but was on holiday in greece with just her father.

She has children but remains in greece refusing to go home and leave her dad until he is released.

It's absolutely baffling. If her father is innocent then this is truly horrific for them to go through. But I'm not sure I'd want to be in greece along than back home with my children after such an ordeal. Not sure who is looking after her children.

I wonder if they’re in a ‘relationship’ which is more common than people think especially if he was absent when she was younger and someone else reported him.

What??? I've never heard of a father/daughter relationship before. Siblings, yes but not parents. Please tell me I'm not alone in this

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 01/07/2022 14:08

I've heard of cases where tlchildren end up with their parent ie if they were abandoned and then found eachother later its not nice but not unheard of.

It's called genetic sexual attraction

@Thisbastardcomputer
Because Its in Greece. They don't have all the kit we have in the UK

WTF? It’s Greece, not Ancient Greece!

Um yeah but it’s not remotely common. Why would you possibly think incest is?

I didn't say it was common, I was just explaining it had a name.

iklboo · 01/07/2022 15:19

I can't work out why the dna tests are taking so long.

It's not always as quick as TV would have us believe. There's also huge differences in labs, equipment, technicians & technical skills across the world, even today. On top of that the police are probably not pushing hard for it either.

Incest is still pretty common I'm afraid. In the same way all crimes are.

LosDolses · 01/07/2022 15:39

It's very uncomfortable to watch the CCTV. Somethings not right at all with the whoje situation. Daughter has said she plans to stay in Greece until he is released...what about her children in the UK??

Swimmingpoolsally · 01/07/2022 15:41

can you link to that to back it up and define “common”

becayse in English common means prevalent and done often and it absolutely is not prevalent or done often.

Mummadeze · 01/07/2022 15:49

It doesn’t look consensual at all. Horrible video. Not surprised he has been arrested. Seems to me like she was assaulted by her Dad and then maybe raped by someone else if she is adamant it wasn’t him. Very sad.

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 01/07/2022 16:00

I didn't see anything sexual in the cctv, it looked like he was very drunk and trying to get her into a fireman's lift.

But I also thought the bar woman not intervening was.weird......it would be interesting to know what her take was. Also if he went to the hotel alone surely there would be CCTV ? And why the delay with the DNA tests ? The whole things weird.

Viviennemary · 01/07/2022 16:02

I did read this a week or so ago and thought it all sounded a bit strange. But difficult to say whats going on here.

fghj149 · 01/07/2022 16:05

The cctv was weird and did at points look inappropriate but I think they were both completely steaming drunk and didn’t have a clue what they were doing - it does look as though he is drunkenly trying to get her home and she’s not playing ball. Also strikes me as odd that he allegedly left her on her own after an argument, even if they fell out that was irresponsible of him as a father

Swimmingpoolsally · 01/07/2022 16:07

that’s a very unique take. Everyone else saw inappropriate behaviour. I’m stunned you watched it and thought oh he’s trying to get her in a fire man’s lift. How very odd.

Fuckitydoodah · 01/07/2022 16:08

The cctv makes very uncomfortable viewing. Who knows if he raped or not but something is not right with them.

nixnjj · 01/07/2022 16:19

I lived in Crete and the law there is a farce. TBH it was quite common for certain type of men to hunt for drunk tourists on the beaches. Their opinions on tourist especially English women is that they are drunks and all after sex and being too drunk was an open invitation. I've not seen the footage or know anything about the case but they would go for the easy option rather than hunt for the truth.

DrManhattan · 01/07/2022 16:20

@HaveringWavering
Ha ha ha yes ancient Greece hilarious

NCforgoodreason · 01/07/2022 16:26

I find that CCTV footage really gross. It's obvious something was going on there between the dad and the daughter. Even if he's not the one who raped her... it's very strange.

And the might be pregnant thing.... why not just go to a chemist and pee on a stick? It's almost attention seeking like.

Well it may not be common, but it's not as uncommon as people might like to think it is. Here's a report from 2019 that identified some 13,000+ children that resulted from "extreme in-breeding" - and the report authors thought this was an underestimate in the general population.

It looked to me like he was kissing? her neck and he had his face in her breasts, and at one point his hand possibly in her underwear -

A quick google search will show you that yes is dose happen and is probably far more common that people realise.

TRIGGER WARNING - DISCUSSES SEXUAL ABUSE

@Swimmingpoolsally - genuine question - how do you know it is absolutely not prevalent or done often? It is a very taboo subject therefore not one that people who had experienced it (either consensually or not) would likely admit. Most child sexual abuse is carried out by family members, especially in younger children. I only found out relatively recently that my mother was subject to sexual abuse and rape from her brother and my grandfather apparently laughed about it - my mother has been dead for over 25 years but it still hurts to think of what she experienced and explains a lot of what happened when I was growing up - knowing this led me down a path of alcohol abuse to drown out the intrusive thoughts. I have a friend who has been a health visitor for 30 years and says she would never leave her daughter alone with a male relative as she had seen so much sexual abuse of children.

So sadly I think it is more common than many would believe.

nixnjj · 01/07/2022 16:49

Just watched the video and tbh looks like standard someone trying to get up whose too drunk. The 2 guys in the back watching what's going on look dodgy. To the people asking why she is staying in Crete simple, the jail in Heraklion doesn't provide food or medical or even something to sleep in family bring prisoners food and anything they need. Knowing Malia and Police I believe her.

likeaprayingmantis · 01/07/2022 16:51

i fully believe incest is much more prevalent than it appears. in fact I know it is from my job (being deliberately vague)
