Re: quotes - I agree.

One or two nested posts is fine, but more and it becomes unreadable. I wish posters would think before automatically leaping for the quote button.

WatchoRulo · 24/06/2022 17:48

Do you think Britain is better off than Germany?
Really?
Hwy are you asking me about something I didn't say?
I didn't say that.
My question was to the poster who asserted that our rampant inflation was due to us leaving the EU. Since countries who have remained in the EU, and many others who were never in it have the same issue, that claim doesn't bear scrutiny.

And, ironically, why are you making out I said something I didn't say?

I didn't "assert that our rampant inflation was due to leaving the EU", I said it played a not insignificant part.

If you're going to pull others up for allegedly misquoting you, it would make sense to get your own posts straight.

Henerlo · 24/06/2022 20:09

Mick Lynch is taking ACTION against nested quotes.

RevoltingHumanHead · 24/06/2022 20:10

I'm already in a union but I'll join any other union that is anti-nested quotes. Making this site unreadable.

Bouledeneige · 24/06/2022 20:39

It is lazy bullshit to say over 55s always follow what the Daily Mail says. Fuck off! Casual ageism dismissing half the population or more. I was at Greenham, anti-apartheid and at NUM demos in 1984. Feminist all my life. Get educated.

antelopevalley · 24/06/2022 20:58

You would think the second wave of feminism never happened.
Trust me some older women were way more radical than younger women.

I've been enjoying watching the Mick Lynch interviews, mainly because it's so refreshing to see someone answering questions they are asked.
Politics has become so evasive, we have got so used to seeing people answering the question they wanted to be asked, rather than the one they were asked, that when someone like ML comes along it's interesting.
I would hope that his new-found popularity will encourage others in public life to be more direct themselves. It's clearly what lots of people want to see.

I agree. Politics has become cowardly because so many politicians are so desperate not to rock the boat and the bunch of sycophants backing Johnson are a pretty extreme example. It would be so nice to get a straight answer to a straight question sometimes. I know that it's not always possible but a lot of politicians are so worried about upsetting party bosses that they avoid any kind of direct answer.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 24/06/2022 21:56

They have been in power too long, it is unusual for any party to keep the momentum going successfully for this length of time. The flaws and lies become more obvious.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time

One country which doesn't have rampant inflation (though still higher than normal) is Switzerland. Reasons? Energy security is one of the main ones but also the fact that the Swiss National Bank hasn't spent a decade printing money through quantitative easing.

Henerlo · 24/06/2022 23:26

Agree with that but would point out we've been printing money for thirteen years, not just ten. ☹️

WatchoRulo · 24/06/2022 23:58

I didn't "assert that our rampant inflation was due to leaving the EU", I said it played a not insignificant part.
but it didn’t, did it? Otherwise our level of inflation would be significantly different from the EU average, and it isn’t. The fact is that lots of nations are experiencing very similar inflation to us, but we’re the only ones that Brexited. Brexit hasn’t caused our inflation.

I really hope so.

Really hope you have no holiday plans, now or any time in the future. Let's say when you're abroad and strikes are taking place. You won't be punching the air then.

Yes he is. Awfully negative.

RevoltingHumanHead · 25/06/2022 02:05

You poor love! I'm so upset for you having to endure his negativity. Did it make you cry when he got the better of your pinup Piers Morgan?

Wishing you strength at this difficult time.

RevoltingHumanHead · 25/06/2022 02:17

Awww that's the spirit. Thought you were about to have a tantrum.

Dry your eyes and chin up!

Callingoccupants · 25/06/2022 02:21

Perfectly dry. Bit like your 'humour'. In other words, predictably sarcastic. Night love x

RevoltingHumanHead · 25/06/2022 02:23

Night, poppet! You get lots and lots of rest. It will be good for your nerves.

TullyApplebottom I agree. I'm afraid anyone who lived through the 70s will be watching national strike action with some trepidation - it set us back decades as a country

I lived through the 1970s. No trepidation over here. I support the strike, and workers rights. Rail shareholders make millions. These greedy fatcats are the ones bringing the country to it's knees. Not the rail workers.

The worshipping at the altar of the rich that some ridiculous working class are into, really needs to stop. The days of forelock tugging and being starry eyed about 'the gentry' are long gone.

You lived through the winter of discontent, where there was limited electric, rubbish piled up and the dead went unburied and you still support the strikes? Unreal.

Roussette · 25/06/2022 08:48

Did you live through it? ???

I did.

And I support workers rights. The gap between rich and poor is widening.

people then we’re not putting up with the way they were being treated and why should they now?

we have full employment and wages cuts, along with risking inflation heading for a recession. Due to those at the top keeping the money and the masses at the bottom being kept short of money. If the masses don’t have money to spend then it’ll certainly fuel a recession

why do you want people to have pay cuts and worse T&C? That’s the question I want to know, if you’re against striking that’s what you stand for
