I'm staying in a very rural village where takeaways are limited, but it's my first night here and I thought I'd splash out. I ordered a pizza meal deal with some onion rings and mozzarella sticks... but pic of the pizza attached. I'm here alone, wtf was I thinking?!

Worse, when it arrived it didn't actually fit through the front door. I had to stand in the porch and tip it very carefully onto its side to get it in. Then as the delivery guy walked away I heard the porch door slam shut and lock behind me from a rogue gust of wind.

For a split second I contemplated whether it would be possible to just live in the porch for a week and stretch my gigantic pizza over 7 days so I wouldn't starve. Luckily then I remembered the back door was open, but rather than do the walk of shame I had to wait, hidden in the enclosed porch, with this oversized pizza, for the delivery guy to drive up the road and turn around the cul de sac and leave, then abandon my monster pizza until I legged it round the back and retrieved it.

It better be fucking good.

Fantastic story. Was the pizza worth it? I freeze pizza because I live alone. Heats up great in an air fryer or an oven

CarrieMoonbeams · 23/06/2022 18:00

Wow, that's a beauty!

I always make it my motto on holiday (actually who am I kidding? Every single day) to eat something bigger than my head.

That mofo is bigger than the actual sun! "Stick in til you stick oot" as my granny would say.

CPL593H · 23/06/2022 18:05

You're winning Woman v Pizza! Grin

I really want to go and live in a nice rural area that does thin crust pizzas the size of a small continent as routine. We're in a market town and only flipping Dominos will deliver (and forget any of the food delivery services, we've barely adopted carrier pigeons as yet)

OMG absolutely creased. Hope the pizza was nice 😝

Hhmm...Pizza sounds great. 'Lockin' yourself out...well I beat you on both accounts. Once in NY we ordered 2 small pizzas and they turned out to be....well one slice ( size of a small pizza here)was enough for each of us so we had some for lunch next day and then binned rest😜......and I once locked myself out of a 3 floor flat in my dressing gown and had to walk across the road ( to shop)to phone my my partner(now ex) to get on a bus at his work and come way across town to give me a key. Oh we have all done havent we. I only did it that one time and never again....but the Pizza was awesome........dont order small Pizza in NY unless you want to eat it all week! Ask what size it is in cm or inches!

MissConductUS · 23/06/2022 18:10

We started making our own pizza during the pandemic. It's really easy to do and about half the cost of a takeaway. We buy premade portions of the dough from an Italian supermarket and freeze them until needed.

LividLaVidaLoca · 23/06/2022 18:22

Your only error of judgment was not ordering a few cans of pop so they assumed you were feeding a few.

(I might have ordered enough Chinese food this lunchtime to also do me for dinner as husband is away and I wanted to get the benefit)

As I mentioned up thread, OP's pizza would be no more than a medium in New York. 😀

I'm on a hospital ward after a general anaesthetic. I've been nil by mouth for what feels like fucking forever. I could do SERIOUS damage to that little lot right now 😋

shellyleppard · 23/06/2022 18:26

I'm glad to see you finally got it through the door!!!

SleepSleepRaveAsleep · 23/06/2022 18:27

Amazing 😆, 24 inches to yourself 🤣🤣🤣 you've given it a good go, hats off to you 👏👏

MrsLighthouse · 23/06/2022 18:32

That’s pizza heaven …cold the next day too 👍

NippySweetie16 · 23/06/2022 18:35

Could have gone other way though, like a Center Parcs delivery for four that can barely feed two! Enjoy - lovely lunch tomorrow!

EmmaH2022 · 23/06/2022 18:52

Thanks for the laugh OP 😂
a pizza too big for the front door. That’s hilarious 😆

terfydactyl: I miss the USA for its gigantic pizza pies and surf and turf and huge tubs of spaghetti and macaroni on the flip side, dont you have the minutest hands I've ever seen. (that's lost the crossing out, sorry)

One billboard seen in the USA has become a family saying:

Try our triple chocolate fudge waffle bucket

Like, you could leave out a couple of words & it would still be OTT.

We used to buy in the US a 'single serving' slab of carrot cake, it was about 4 inches square and 2 inches thick, we'd cut it into 6!

PSA: the best way to reheat pizza is in a frying pan (at least if you don’t have an air fryer - I’ve never tried that). It works best if you have a lidded frying pan. Pop it in for a few mins with the lid on, the base gets lovely and crispy while the toppings heat up without getting dry. Perfection.

Totally agree but do it on a low heat otherwise the bottom burns before the toppings melt. I actually prefer pizza the next day heated like this as its hotter and the base is crispy amazingness!

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/06/2022 19:12

4 takeaway meals for £25 is good going!

Re competitive undereating, I think there is something about pizza that sets us all off.....do they put crack in it?! I can demolish pizza and eat more in one night than I do the rest of the week and everyone I know is the same! My dd is 11, thin as a whippet and eats normal portions. I have seen her eat a large dominoes and sides on her own!

Could smash a pizza right now, my local pub does an amazing one and I am now seriously thinking about ordering one to take away!

vinoandbrie · 23/06/2022 19:30

I want to come to Herne Bay right now and order that pizza. Very jealous.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/06/2022 19:37

Your pizza fest has made me properly sad. I’ve just got in from work and DP is griddling courgettes. Fuck my life.

Aghh · 23/06/2022 19:47

‘Johnny, Matthew, Hannah, Ollie …… Dinner’s arrived!’

loudly 🤣

Bunchymcbunchface · 23/06/2022 19:49

I’m on a holiday starvation date, I’d deepthroat that

cushionpillow · 23/06/2022 19:57

Just amazing

joongkivincenzo · 23/06/2022 20:00

On a side note, Herne Bay is where the beach scene/ date was filmed and also where the inspiration for the drawings in the graphic novel and tv show Heartstopper.

In fact, just googled and it get used a lot for filming!
