I'm staying in a very rural village where takeaways are limited, but it's my first night here and I thought I'd splash out. I ordered a pizza meal deal with some onion rings and mozzarella sticks... but pic of the pizza attached. I'm here alone, wtf was I thinking?!

Worse, when it arrived it didn't actually fit through the front door. I had to stand in the porch and tip it very carefully onto its side to get it in. Then as the delivery guy walked away I heard the porch door slam shut and lock behind me from a rogue gust of wind.

For a split second I contemplated whether it would be possible to just live in the porch for a week and stretch my gigantic pizza over 7 days so I wouldn't starve. Luckily then I remembered the back door was open, but rather than do the walk of shame I had to wait, hidden in the enclosed porch, with this oversized pizza, for the delivery guy to drive up the road and turn around the cul de sac and leave, then abandon my monster pizza until I legged it round the back and retrieved it.

It better be fucking good.

I remember when I was a kid, my cousin a d I ordered a pizza between us in the US, we both had pathetic appetites at the time, so it seemed a good idea
The pizza would have easily fed us for a week, it needed its own table 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This reminded me of the time someone in our group ordered a pizza in the US - tbf the waitress did warn us

"It's very big sir"
"Don't worry I'm starving and I have a huge appetite"

A few minutes later two giant cake stands appear.

"What are they for?"
"Your pizza sir"
"😮"

Turns out the sizes were the radius not the diameter

I've done similar - in the UK. Went to a huge birthday meal with my ex's family. I chose ribs, the menu said 'double up for £x' so I went for that thinking I was 'doubling' from a half rack to a whole rack.

I was mortified when a fucking platter with TWO racks of ribs turned up, with every side you could think of. I wasn't paying, and everyone looked at me and scoffed, there's no way she's gonna eat all that.

I had to, I couldn't not. I was so embarrassed that I'd ordered it and would have wanted the ground to swallow me up to order this obscene plate of food and barely touch it.

So I got stuck in. I felt like I was on Man vs Food. I did finish it bar some coleslaw and corn on the cob, but it was a 2hr drive home and good god did I feel sick the whole way!!

I'm coeliac. I'd kill for a pizza like that!
Well played OP!

PurpleButterflyWings · 23/06/2022 00:04

Fuck me! How did they fit it in the car? Shock

Feministwoman · 23/06/2022 00:07

And, I remember being at a conference in the USA., SW conference hotel.
Ordered pizza.
It waa HUGE. Fed us for breakfast for the next two days (thank fuck our room had a fridge!)

FirewomanSam · 23/06/2022 00:07

PSA: the best way to reheat pizza is in a frying pan (at least if you don’t have an air fryer - I’ve never tried that). It works best if you have a lidded frying pan. Pop it in for a few mins with the lid on, the base gets lovely and crispy while the toppings heat up without getting dry. Perfection.

007DoubleOSeven · 23/06/2022 00:12

Goodness!

FelicityBeedle · 23/06/2022 00:40

I’ve just checked, not a single weird competitive under eating comment, or snide criticism. MN is losing its touch! I’m on a night he shift rn and I’ve just had my toast, I epitomised kill for a pizza right now

kateandme · 23/06/2022 05:32

We reheat by quickly dashing it under trickling water all oce2r than miking it

I was thinking that! Have I really united MN with a giant pizza? Grin I'm actually a little disappointed there hasn't been just one comment saying, you're there on your OWN?! I could only manage about half a slice of that and I wouldn't risk food poisoning from leftovers, and possibly a rant about food waste because they'd be throwing it all in the bin... oh and maybe saying there are kids going hungry and calling me greedy Grin

This is a superb tip, thank you!

@TibetanTerrah how is the European Pizza Mountain looking this morning? Grin

I dread to think how long this would last the MNers who make the Mumsnet Chicken stretch to 273 meals!

about five minutres.

I am small portions of meat classic magic chickener as I do a lot of veg/stuffing/sides and my parents were brought up in the war so their idea of a portion of meat is miniscule...

but pizza... not a fucking chance of that being eeked out.

TibetanTerrah · 23/06/2022 11:15

@CPL593H I put the rest of the sides in the airfryer along with two slices of pizza. Honestly the onion rings and mozzarella sticks were even nicer done in the fryer (and the pizza of course). But honestly if i ever got this takeaway again I'd put it in the airfryer before eating any of it, it took away any of the "sweatiness" from being transported in the boxes and it was heaven.

I was looking for one!

I'm assuming they're all so aghast that they've lost the ability to message.

I need to know where that pizza was purchased OP! I love a super thin crust.

Him off Man Versus Food would be proud of you op..

SquirrelSoShiny · 23/06/2022 11:32

I mean if you were drowning you could use it as a liferaft with mozzarella stick paddles 🤔

MissDollyMix · 23/06/2022 11:51

Thank you OP. It’s been a long time since a mumsnet thread had me crying with laughter.

Glittertwins · 23/06/2022 11:54

My DCs would love you for ordering that size, they would have probably demolished your entire order in one night too!

I'll give you three guesses Grin

I've had 6 slices today plus the sides and I think I'm done for today tbh. Currently suffering a semi-food coma in a cool bath. I'm not sure if it's pizza sweats or my hot sauce was just a little on the hot side...
