Naked neighbours

The fence that belongs to our neighbour is only a low wire for half the garden and then one panel that rotting and falling down and large gap that we have to cover with a huge plant plot to keep their dog out of our garden.
our neighbours have just had renovations done to their home, a new extension, new patio etc.
but they haven’t replaced the fence.
they sit out all day long in their underwear sunbathing.
my children can’t use the paddling pool, I can’t even garden because it feels too awkward.
for 7 years I’ve felt like I’ve shared a garden.
we can’t afford to replace the fence ourselves.
is it unreasonable to ask that they replace their broken fence seeing as they insist on sunbathing half naked everyday? what Would you do?

In their underwear? So the same as a swimming costume?

gamerchick · 22/06/2022 16:48

Couldn't hand out more grips if I tried hinny.

Crankley · 22/06/2022 16:48

WTF. I assume your children are never taken to a beach - they might see people in bikinis! Ridiculous.

Crankley · 22/06/2022 16:49

That was in response to helpmeimamum

GabriellaMontez · 22/06/2022 16:50

Do you know what 'naked' means?

RitaFires · 22/06/2022 16:51

If the sight of them in their garden offends you then put up some kind of screening next to the wonky fence, I'm sure B&Q would have something that would work.

Gnusmas · 22/06/2022 16:51

Have a look on gum tree etc for free or cheap fence panels people are getting rid of. Wilko have bamboo screening for not much money & plant a very thorny climbing rose Bush on your side.

Click bait title

theyre not naked, but even if they were, so what? We all have bodies, it does kids good to see they come in all different shapes & sizes. Stop being so uptight.

other than keeping their dog secure, they have NO OBLIGATION to have a fence. If YOU want a fence, YOU need to put one up within your boundary.

100Stickers · 22/06/2022 16:52

Are they genuinely in their underwear op? I mean i would find a lacy bra or some grubby y-fronts a bit awkward... I'm guessing that's not it though?

Sapphirensteel · 22/06/2022 16:54

Join Freecycle and ask for some bamboo, either rolls or plants, which are fast growing. Or fence panels. Or a plant called Russian Vine ( aka Mile a Minute)

They’re not naked, wearing the same as on any beach, around any pool.

Theblacksheepandme · 22/06/2022 16:54

Chaoslatte
Could you put up that bamboo roll stuff or any plants to block it a bit? I’ve just looked out of the window and accidentally seen my NDN sunbathing on her front in a thong so I do sympathise but I suspect they won’t get a fence because they don’t care that you can see them.

The cheek of her.

LauraNicolaides · 22/06/2022 16:54

You are being very unreasonable.

My neighbours on both sides sunbathe topless (women aged 50 and 80+). My DC find this a mixture of amusing and weird, but it's done no one any harm. Your awkwardness is what you need to deal with, not the neighbours' non-nakedness. Live and let live.

motogirl · 22/06/2022 16:56

I sit in my garden in my bikini, how is that different, or would you object to that. I have been known to sunbathe without clothing at all at my old house but we weren't overlooked there

Chikapu · 22/06/2022 16:56

Do you take your children to the beach or the swimming pool? If so then they've seen and gasp been incredibly close to people already revealing as much flesh as your neighbours.

stuntbubbles · 22/06/2022 16:57

Your children can’t use the paddling pool because the neighbours are sunbathing in underwear? Have you ever been to the beach.

newnamethanks · 22/06/2022 16:57

If I was as bothered as you I'd put a fence up. Or plant a hedge. It's you with the problem, not them.

PAFMO · 22/06/2022 16:58

You could stop looking into other people's gardens?

WhateverHappenedToMe · 22/06/2022 16:58

Will you be taking your children onto a beach this summer? What do you expect people to be wearing there?

Crankley · 22/06/2022 16:59

helpmeimamum

What's the difference? Both cover up your bits.

Throughabushbackwards · 22/06/2022 16:59

As they say, you either have a naked neighbour or you are a naked neighbour.

withsexypantsandasausagedog · 22/06/2022 17:00

Look up bareroot hedging. It is cheaper than a fence and some grow very quickly!

You seem to have a bad case of bangorrhea.

Summerlovin20 · 22/06/2022 17:02

You wouldn’t like my neighbours op, they are both in their mid 70’s, naked and bubbling in their hot tub most evenings drinking cocktails. I’m 30 years younger and slightly jealous of their don’t give a fuck attitude.
