I'll go first....

If you are feeling low, do something for someone else. Not because you have too, but because you can. I promise you will walk away feeling more inspired than you did before! Just be kind in life, it's so rewarding.

Don’t sweat the petty stuff (and don’t pet the sweaty stuff)!

SpaceFarce · 22/06/2022 22:44

@blueshoes maybe yours should be not to argue with strangers about things that work for them, which was the original question 🙃

Aria999 · 22/06/2022 22:46

It's ok for some people not to like you. Different people like different things.

If you are putting something off, make a to do list in the order of what you feel like doing. Then start in at the bottom of it.

From my Pilates teacher: every opportunity you get - stand on one leg. Waiting for the bus, brushing teeth, washing up, waiting for kettle to boil - 30 second intervals on either leg. Improving your balance and strength in your ankles has huge benefits as you get older.

I do this! Lol I thought I was just a bit strange!

Biophilia123 · 22/06/2022 22:49

Make a reality all you/they have pushed at the back of your mind.

Experiment with difference.

Keep looking for your blind spots (unless you are a lorry driver); they are fascinating.

It takes two to tango, including yourself.

May have been said already but as the late, great Anthony Bourdain said:

“Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride.”

If you suffer from social anxiety, reframe entering a room full of people. Instead of stressing about whether people will like you think instead" I wonder who I will like in that room"

I was reading through waiting for some profound wisdom at the end of this😂 wise it is other-wise!

NancyDrooo · 22/06/2022 22:55

My gran used to say “never skimp on beds or shoes, because if you’re not in one you’re in the other”. Might be a cliche but it’s not wrong!

Don’t let your baby/toddler get used to warmed food and drink. If they’ll have it at room temperature you can feed them anywhere. And that one goes out to my best friend, who had to find a microwave everywhere we frickin went, for years.

My life tip would be this - before you criticise Christianity and Christians, read one of the gospels and look at the founder. Jesus was perfect. Real Christians try to live like Him because they love Him. But Christians are human, so we do wrong things - sometimes intentionally but usually unintentionally. Please don't judge Christianity by what you see Christians doing: judge it by the One who started it off.

This.
Also: if those that matter don't mind - then those that mind don't matter.
The grass is greener where you water it (a great quote from a colleague).
Do no harm - but take no shit!

My Grandma always says it's more important to be kind than right. I try to remember this during stupid arguments and it makes me smile.

"My Grandma always says it's more important to be kind than right."

Nah, I prefer this one. I shall be kind instead.

spuddymonkey06 · 22/06/2022 23:10

Never go to bed on an argument.

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 22/06/2022 23:12

Don’t read the DM

Fluffmum · 22/06/2022 23:36

When you have more than you need, build a bigger table instead of a higher wall.

I love this.

bluesapphire48 · 23/06/2022 00:00

My mother had this little piece of advice taped to the inside of the cupboard where all the plates, medicine and cups and saucers were. It keeps me going when I feel like giving up:

"Use the talents you possess.
The woods would be very quiet if no birds sang
Except the best."

Hawkins001 · 23/06/2022 00:00

Put a wall around your heart, that's not to say don't fall in love ect, it's more to help protect your emotions if and when others disappoint or are unfaithful etc.

Always believe in your abilities, and if you need more knowledge or understanding, Google is just a click away.

MyFragility · 23/06/2022 00:01

Don't take your children's or DH or any loved one's life for granted. Ever.

Hug them that bit tighter, tell them unequivocally you love them again, take more photos and videos, and never go to bed on an argument.

bluesapphire48 · 23/06/2022 00:01

Beautiful! I love it!

FootieMama · 23/06/2022 00:03

Finish work on time

ConsuelaHammock · 23/06/2022 00:10

Never buy trousers with elasticated waists!

Mamanyt · 23/06/2022 00:20

Don't sweat the small stuff. And after 70 or so years, you start to realize that it is almost ALL small stuff.

marblemad · 23/06/2022 00:45

More recently after my sister being left with life changing injuries after a car accident, I live everyday exactly as I want to and go above and beyond for family, take millions of photos and videos you never know when life will change

champagnetruffleshuffle · 23/06/2022 02:43

Live and let Live.

Living life not bothered by what others think of you and not worrying about other people life choices is liberating. It served me well during covid!
