Also this article is really distasteful, there's a cost of living crisis.

The article is indeed a load of pretentious twaddle, but you can't expect everyone to stop talking about stuff they do just because some people can't afford to do the same thing. Magazines don't publish articles and interviews about people saying they eat beans on toast and spag bol, because it's boring and nobody would read it.

People like reading aspirational, pretentious twaddle - either out of escapism, to daydream about having that kind of life, or because they enjoy ranting about how pretentious it is! Should people with little money only be allowed to read content about other people with little money? Seems a bit patronising to me.

While I agree with most of this & the title of the magazine (luxe-something??) is a giveaway, I don't accept that it's patronising to rage about it.

Besides, we need to know where these people live, come the revolution:

"EAT THE RICH!"

and there's this oh I enjoyed brunch at a restaurant 3/4 times a week. Hmm

It's in a magazine called Sheer Luxe. Not everything has to be "in touch" or sensitive.

I don't get this logic: my objection is to the very existence of magazines called Sheer Luxe, & the institutional wealth bubble its establishment protects & perpetrates. The human species is so deeply fucked up in this regard.

Rant over, & I'm off to commune with wolves Wink

Theres a creator on TikTok who does this far better but absolutely takes the mickey out of it - I wish I could remember her username but she has a small dog called Rhubarb who often gets centre stage. Absolutely hilarious the way she drops luxury brand names into her conversation as a spoof without missing a beat!

She needs to stop dangling her hair in whatever meal it is that she's preparing. Imagine finding one of those hairs wrapped round your mung bean.

<boak>

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I order pancakes paired with roasted tomatoes and butternut squash, chickpeas, avocado and a tahini and yoghurt dressing.

That. On pancakes?

Paired with darling, paired with, not brutishly thrown on top. I don't know how that's different but it must be because it sounds fancier.

People like that need to just have a bowl of Frosties and then fuck off!!

BloodyHellKen · 21/06/2022 14:30

Judging by some of the previous posts this might not be a popular opinion, but I think her most of her food and the photos look and sound very tasty - apart from things like protein powder, Lara can keep that :)

I love this thread, MN at its finest 😁

I have had a mooch through the Sheerluxe website...

OMG the absolute cheek - their piece on Clare Balding that they style as an interview...

Is no such thing, it is just all the promotional content, ie an exerpt from each chapter of her book, that is provided by the publishers for media use.

You're meant to use one or two of them, not reproduce the whole lot and pretend its a fucking interview!?

Hiphophippityskip1 · 21/06/2022 17:32

Pretentious twaddle and a very boring life. I presume this is her job? This is neither affordable or sustainable for any normal person never mind anyone with a family to feed!

Doubleraspberry · 22/06/2022 16:51

Some of the food sounds nice. Most of it sounds labour intensive in a way that would conflict with most lifestyles. Quite a lot of it is environmentally destructive.

She'd be much better off making vats of soup with seasonal local vegetables and mixing it up with different herbs or side salads during the week. Cheaper, quicker, better for the planet, still healthy.
