AIBU to consider the wife?

straightoutofa · 15/06/2022 14:19

I know a married man through dog-walking, and I am attracted to him. I also suspect he is not in a sexual relationship with his wife. I would never make a move on him. If he were to make a move on me, I would tell him that I am interested in him, but that he would have to be single for me to take it any further. AIBU?

Hmm
PurpleDaisies · 15/06/2022 15:29

How about considering your own partner?

GoldenSongbird · 15/06/2022 15:31

This was worth it for the Dogbert strip Grin

OP consider the wife; your partner; yourself ... and even your dog because when your affair goes horribly wrong, you won't be able to walk your dog there ever again.

<wails> will no-one think of the dogs?

caringcarer · 15/06/2022 15:33

Leave him alone, he is married.

merryhouse · 15/06/2022 15:33

Don't autistic people like to Follow The Rules? (it's what people on here keep saying about their kids anyway - and it's just as much sense as Not Getting Jokes)

The Rule is: when you get married, you're together. Everybody else should keep out.

Follow that rule.

I know someone who had an affair with a married man . Swore they never had sex separate beds etc. lo and behold the wife was pregnant. His excuse ? She came on to me after too many drinks got into my bed and got on top of me when I was asleep. Yeah right . He was dumped .

weaselish · 15/06/2022 15:33

Wow - how trashy. Leave him alone and focus on your partner.

dworky · 15/06/2022 15:34

THE wife? Is she an object?

He sounds horribly familiar, does his first name begin with an A?

You're joking, right? Hmm
He must be the only man to ever make a crap joke whilst out walking his dog 😂

Is it my husband? He seems very popular with the local dog walking ladies. They are always so disappointed when I walk the dog and not him.

To be fair your DH should be old enough to walk himself.

glowbabe · 15/06/2022 15:37

Also a lot of women who have been dumped have told me they were having sex right up to when he dropped the bombshell he had someone else . In a lot of cases they also went back for sex with the ex behind the new woman's back

Shedcity · 15/06/2022 15:40

You’re planning what to do if A married man that doesn’t flirt with you, tries to have sex with you?

are you ok?

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/06/2022 15:41

I was on the other thread and argued that the OW doesn't owe the wife anything and that you need to focus on your cheating spouse. I still think that.

But that's one, small aspect of motivation. Do I think it's a good idea to shag an unfunny, disloyal, inappropriate cheater? No. Loyalty to his wife isn't the reason. Loyalty to yourself is.

SpiderVersed · 15/06/2022 15:42

Haven’t you got any self respect? Sheesh.

If you aren’t happy in your current relationship, end it. But don’t try cop off with someone married.

What could happen?
a) he rejects you and you feel crap
or
b) he sleeps with you. Congratulations, you’re shagging the kind of sleazeball who would betray his wife for a shag. What a prize. Not to mention STD risk.

This made me genuinely lol.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 15/06/2022 15:43

Really? I mean, really? "Man walking dog makes sleazy joke" sounds sooooo familiar that you think you know who he is! No, you don't. 😂

YANBU but it doesn’t happen like in the movies OP. He won’t declare his undying love and give you the perfect opening to say your piece. He’ll convince you that he and his wife has separate bedrooms because she’s mad/whatever else, and he can’t leave her because of the kids, but you’re the only thing that keeps him going and as soon as Johnny is off to college he’ll be able to leave etc etc. And he’ll never leave. And you’ll get hung up on his will-he-won’t-he malarkey. That’d be my guess.

This. Absolutely this

straightoutofa · 15/06/2022 14:46

Do you think men say those sort of things with any intention in mind or are they just trying to be 'funny'? There's another one who makes innuendo when the dogs greet one another (if you know how dogs greet one another).

It’s a joke.

Note to self - remind husband not to make jokes to strange women when dog walking.

BlueAce73 · 15/06/2022 15:49

If it’s just sex you/he are after & nobody needs to know then say something and see if he’s on same page but if you want a relationship with him but expect him to leave his wife on the basis that you’re attracted then I wouldn’t bother as it will end up messy & too much of a drama/headache

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 15/06/2022 15:51

See I don't think the comment is an off the cuff random joke.
It sounds like the kind of comment that can be disguised as just a joke but used to test the waters and possibly open a dialogue
Either way you would be a cheap shag on the side nothing more nothing less

Blossomtoes · 15/06/2022 15:53

See I don't think the comment is an off the cuff random joke.

Of course it is.

worriedatthistime · 15/06/2022 15:54

Thats the sort of stupid joke my dh would say and laugh at
Because he has a crap sense of humour , it doesn't mean much
Although my dh does walk our dog , maybe I should be worried Confused

worriedatthistime · 15/06/2022 15:55

@EmeraldShamrock1 or it was just a jokey comment and people need to maybe be a little less offended
