To think that children shouldn't be topless at softplay?

Kid here wearing a pair of shorts. AIBU to think it's just a bit odd?

Why can't I think people who wear pyjamas out shopping are lazy and not be snobby?

You can think what you like of course but calling people who wear pyjamas 'lazy' when you know nothing about them meets the definition of snobby IMO - you are looking down on those people, you are expressing a view that people who wear pyjamas are inferior (whether to yourself or to all non-pyjama wearers) with regards to motivation/laziness (you appear to consider 'lazy' a negative trait).

How has this thread gone from OP being horrified at topless children to arguing about Pyjamas in public and eating KFC? 😂

Are you new to mumsnet?😂

carefullycourageous · 08/06/2022 19:49

hahaha I agree with @FiveNineFive - tangents are normal!

Kanaloa · 08/06/2022 19:53

Well because I said judging people on what they wear when it doesn’t affect you was snobby and the poster in question retorted ‘I’m not snobby - I frequently eat a KFC bucket.’ As if that makes any sense. Looking down at others for what they wear is snobby. Eating KFC has nothing to do with being snobby or otherwise. Looking down at others who eat KFC would be snobby.

Moosake · 08/06/2022 19:54

I'm a little bit snobby I have to admit. I sometimes eat KFC. I don't like men topless in supermarkets but don't mind pjs.

It’s absolutely the reason I can’t quit Mumsnet. Every time I try to walk away, a thread comes along with a bizarre derail fight about something unrelated and it’s just so much better than Netflix.

Mumnetter111 · 08/06/2022 20:12

i would be worried that they might be cold.

SaveMePlease · 08/06/2022 20:13

Snobbiness is to do with wealth and social status or believing your tastes are superior to others. Whilst I might generally be snobby, I don't consider my viewpoint that people are lazy for wanting to go out in pyjamas renders me snobby.

I think people who can work yet actively choose to stay at home and claim benefits are lazy - I don't think this makes me snobbish.

Dalekjastninerels · 08/06/2022 20:15

I wear pjs at home, clothes are for outside.

I find KFC too oily ; I like my Air Fryers for things like nuggets/tenders etc.

I also like my food very hot temperature wise- why is takeaway etc never hot enough?

Re child at softplay maybe being a child he just took it off because he was too warm. Not something to take notice of. Soft play is for under 10 year olds isn't it? Sorry if I'm wrong - not in the UK.

To be honest this is the first time I've had a major role in a derailed conversation so thanks to @Kanaloa for being a part of it 😂

Veol · 08/06/2022 20:33

I’m not sure I would even notice, let alone care about it. People do far worse than this all the time.

Sunnytwobridges · 08/06/2022 20:40

A topless 7 yr old I would find it odd.

londonrach · 08/06/2022 20:42

Bet poor mum or dad upset child spilt something and if anything like my daughter remove to wear it....not an issue if under 11...yabu and strange. ..wait till your child ruins the only item you left that's dry...

margegunderson · 09/06/2022 00:42

TheCatLives · 08/06/2022 15:51

Yuck. That is grim, and I know that some supermarkets don't allow it.

In what way is a child wearing shorts 'grim'?

CanaryWharf2 · 09/06/2022 00:50

Bluueberrryy · 08/06/2022 14:52

Because in four years of going to soft plays I've never seen it. Clearly not necessary

So it’s purely hypothetical?

Why not wait until you see it to get agitated? What’s the concern?

CanaryWharf2 · 09/06/2022 00:55

Bluueberrryy · 08/06/2022 16:14

Because some weirdos like to look at young children.

Including you, of course, who seems to have got quite emotional after watching someone else’s child.

Have you considered a different hobby?

Boxowine · 09/06/2022 05:53

Possibly because the child arrived at soft play in their pyjamas top and was asked to remove it by snobby manager before eating KFC?

No that was in response to a post about men top less in supermarkets

RedWingBoots · 09/06/2022 06:27

@10HailMarys we wouldn't have this "great" thread if the OP didn't mind her own business.

Though you are right she must get really upset seeing kids in swimming pools, at the beach, etc.

CanaryWharf2 · 09/06/2022 09:29

Boxowine · 09/06/2022 04:29

Mine is cars, no need to change that. Spying on other people’s children is a bit different.

Did you have your own children with you, or were you just there to pass judgement on others?

I do hope you were properly dressed.

I don't think your hobby is cars. I think it's twisting people's words on this site in order to insult them. The OP didn't "spy" on anyone. They were in a public space in which someone's child was wearing rather less than what children usually wear. Otherwise they wouldn't have stood out.
