To think that children shouldn't be topless at softplay?

Kid here wearing a pair of shorts. AIBU to think it's just a bit odd?

Bluueberrryy · 08/06/2022 15:09

Because I think it's odd

Ok so what exactly are you getting at?

Do you want people to say "yes, that's odd" and validate your thoughts or are you trying to imply something else but hoping other people will take your strange hints and run with it?

I don't understand why I'm the only one that thinks it's odd. Apparently I'm the odd one.

Also, your title contradicts what you're saying. "A bit odd" is very different to "shouldn't", which is what your title says.

MintJulia · 08/06/2022 15:11

I couldn't get worked up at a 7yo without a T-shirt. Maybe they are hot or it got wet or whatever. They're 7, it really doesn't matter.

pigsDOfly · 08/06/2022 15:11

'Odd', the word you used, would imply you see it as some sort of problem.

Fair enough, maybe I do find it a problem

Where did I say it was a problem?

er, in your thread title

ObjectionHearsay · 08/06/2022 15:15

I mean willy waving and exposing oneself on the top of the big blue slide I may find "odd" and raise an eyebrow.

But topless pre-puberty child, nah. Probably just got hit, spilt something down themselves. They are only 7.

But then I've no issue with naked baby/toddlers on the beach.

BlanketsBanned · 08/06/2022 15:16

So its just one child who has taken their top off for whatever reason.

RandomQuest · 08/06/2022 15:19

I doubt he left the house like that! He probably just spilled a drink down themselves and the parents likely didn’t bring spares because 7 is past the point where you think it’s necessary. Would you suggest that the kid goes round soft play in a wet top probably covered in something sticky like Apple juice? Or should the family go home?

BattenburgDonkey · 08/06/2022 15:05

In your title, were you said they shouldn’t be topless.

😄

TheGoogleMum · 08/06/2022 15:21

I'd think its a bit weird too but probably a very reasonable explanation

Moosake · 08/06/2022 15:24

I don't think it's odd. I might worry about friction burn. But it's not odd. I mean I see men in the supermarket with out their shirts sometimes which I find grim but not odd.

Moonface123 · 08/06/2022 15:25

Not in the least odd, its a shame nowadays that people have to continuously pick fault with absolutely everything, just focus on yourself Op an d save yourself alot of unnecessary bother.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 08/06/2022 15:29

What’s the big deal?

SaveMePlease · 08/06/2022 15:34

I don't think it's right OP - their parents are probably the ones who think it's ok to go shopping in slippers and a gown.

Babyghirl · 08/06/2022 15:36

@Bluueberrryy
It's as bad when you go to the beach and kids are running around in the nip, like God knows what pedophile is running around.

But this child is wearing shorts, so entirely different.

Kanaloa · 08/06/2022 15:38

The one near me has signs saying you have to wear long sleeves and long trousers with socks.

Realistically if you don’t like it just don’t let your kids do it. You don’t need to get worked up about it someone else’s young child not wearing a shirt.

Marvellousmadness · 08/06/2022 15:39

Get a grip op.

Or, they are normal parents and the kid spilt a drink on their top. Alternatively, they are normal parents but the 7 year old got hot and took his top off and the parents thought well it’s soft play anyway, unlikely to be any raging peados and they are years before puberty so il leave them to it.

randomsabreuse · 08/06/2022 15:43

Most require long sleeves (not always enforced tbf) and long trousers rather than shorts - mostly for safety (friction burn) reasons... So yes would think it odd.

carefullycourageous · 08/06/2022 15:46

Bluueberrryy · 08/06/2022 15:12

Why do you find it a problem?

I would not do it with my kids, and my DH would never wander about without a top on outside the home other than the beach, nor would my dad have ever done that, but it is not something I would consider a problem especially with a primary age child in an informal setting like that where they might be hot.

It is OK with me if other people go shopping in pyjamas, even though it is not something I would ever do.
