Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

Craig Charles. Aloof, bored, self-important, and just plain rude. By far the worst I have met. Rory Bremner was a delight as was unexpectedly, Noel Gallagher, who I had thought might be tricky.

I was in Nottingham's first EM Con where the entire cast of Red Dwarf attended plus many other celebs from shows like Game of Thrones, Dr Who, Primevil etc. Everyone was nice but it was in a very tight venue (they expanded since then). I wasn't feeling very well but me and my son got around the celebs, got autographs, personal photos from the lads from Game of Thrones who were there (it wasn't as popular back then) but they were all absolutely lovely. The queue to see the Red Dwarf cast was long and slow, we had quite a few selfies with Danny John Jules (the CAT) and listened to their jokes between them.

We approached Craig Charles having purchased a few signed "pricey photos" a couple pushed in before us and got a personal photo with him. I bought a signed photo of him while i waited and asked for a personal one so i could send it to my friend in Belfast who loved the show too. His mentor said no! I argued that i couldn't come back later as i wasn't feeling well as she suggested but he just stood there, said sorry and shook my hand like a wet blanket. NO respect for him, how long it would have took to take a pic i don't know but at least he got my hard earned cash eh?

I read the following year he never showed up and let fans down....

Beamish22 · 08/06/2022 23:10

I’ll agree that Lewis Hamilton is lovely. I met him a few weeks ago and he just chatted away happily. Came over as a genuine nice person.

JessesMum777888 · 08/06/2022 23:10

Danielle Westbrook was lovely.

jessicaemily · 08/06/2022 23:11

I was thinking the same @pixie5121. No-one has a good word to say about Holly. I find it fascinating seeing her on screen and then hearing how different she is in RL...

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 23:13

That's the opposite of what my friend told me about Paul McCartney. My friend met Paul through a professional capacity & wasn't impressed by his behaviour.

I've heard similar reports as well. Maybe PP met the original Paul, who was indeed 'lovely' and then everybody else since has met replacement Paul Grin

Ooh, that 'Meat-free Monday' rap he did a while back was soooooo painful. He's a huge star and people will gladly stop and listen to what he has to say.... so why make it into a cringe-fest of a terrible rap? His rapping was actually worse than that of Mohammed Al Fayed riffing off his own name on Da Ali G Show that time, which is already setting a phenomenally low bar!

PermanentTemporary · 08/06/2022 23:16

A bit gutted about Craig Charles, I luffs him on the radio and he enlivened a very dull local festival by playing a blinding set.

Nobody will remember this man now but I met Garfield Sobers the cricketer through work and he was just such a gentleman through and through.

Do tell us more? In all fairness I’m
no longer convinced lately that the friend’s parents were necessarily all that nice so I don’t know…

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 23:19

Cherie would drive like a bat put of hell in a mini, not caring if you were in the way, and such a pita.

Was that story about her in Australia ever confirmed as true? The one where she visited a shop, the shopkeeper invited her and the children to help themselves to one or two complimentary gifts and she allegedly almost emptied out his shop and required a van?!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 23:28

Has anybody every met Shaun Williamson off-set? He comes across as such a remarkably intelligent yet humble, kindly, unassuming man - who never gets angry at people calling him Barry! I'd be so disappointed to hear that he wasn't genuinely like that irl.

But for the fact that it could get confusing having two of them called 'Shaun W', if they ever look for another Chaser, I think he would be perfect.

The other one I'm a bit fascinated to know about is Dale Winton. I've read reports of people saying what a beautifully kind, gentle soul he was when they bumped into him; but I just can't square that with the fact he was such close friends with Cilla and P O'G - both of whom are universally reported as being.... not quite so nice....

bellsbuss · 08/06/2022 23:28

My friend said that Cilla Black is the rudest celeb that she has ever had to deal with in first class. She wasn't allowed to speak to her not even to ask if she wanted refreshments. She would have to ask her assistant who would then ask Cilla and then repeat what Cilla wanted to my friend.

Loving this thread

That's something else I'd like to know: if these reportedly deeply unpleasant celebs encounter equally horrible members of the public, do they clash like fighting rhinos and bring out the very worst in each other, or do they find the common ground and really hit it off as best buds?!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/06/2022 23:33

Like that incredibly irritating couple in The Fast Show?! "What did I say, Roy?!" Grin

DontStopMeNow7 · 08/06/2022 23:36

I got to meet some celebs at a local golfing event when I was a child. The one I remember was Bobby Charlton because my dad and brother were so excited about it. I was suitably unexpressed as a girl who hated football. All I remember was that he was grumpy and didn’t seem to want to do autographs. No smiles and barely spoke to anyone. To be fair he probably just wanted to play golf but the event WAS for celebrities.

I once had a long chat in the pub with the ex personal security guard of Gwyneth Paltrow. I was dying to hear dirt because I’ve never liked her so I fired a tonne of questions at him,,,,but he had only glowing words for her and for Chris Martin. Apparently she is the nicest person ever, according to him, and he was treated like one of the family.

Crouchendmumoftwo · 08/06/2022 23:36

Another one for Bob Geldolf. I did his PR launch as a young woman - he was totally up himself, rude, arrogant, vile and stank of shit. He was one of the most revolting and nastiest people I have had the misfortune to meet.

Frank Bruno Ive worked with was abusive and made a journalist cry.

Zoe Ball was totally up herself.

Ive met lots of lovley ones also to make up for the ones who are a disgrace!

roseapothecary · 08/06/2022 23:43

The Kooks- really rude
Taylor Swift- lovely
Goldie lookin chain- lots of fun

Also met lionel blair briefly at same theatre as the val lehman interview on a different date....he was pleasant but creepy...had about 5 spotty, rough looking teenage lads on his table....mmmm....read into that what you will....!!!

I wish he was still alive to sue you for this. He'd probably just shake his head sadly though.

Lionel Blair was one of the kindest men I've ever known and did so much genuine charity work.
He's greatly missed by his children and his lovely wife of many decades.

I met Tiff Needell(fifth Gear) he is lovely, I also met Jim Davidson at the hotel I worked in at the time he was very happy and polite, Norman wisdom was very friendly and happy to sign video covers for 18 yr old me. Freddie Starr was ok friendly, but 16 year old me made a quick exit as not keen on him,

Second Tiff Needell. Lovely man, very good speaker.

Helen Flanagan is awful! She was incredibly rude to a colleague - on the other hand I spent an afternoon with Alesha Dixon once and she was just the nicest human!

Oh I say it was the opposite way around! Alesha was a real mean girl bully at school whereas Helen is kind but was quite troubled with an Eating disorder for years.

Justfineanddandy · 08/06/2022 23:49

Bob Mortimer came and looked around the aquatic centre I worked in. He was alone and misplaced his car keys. I found them and approached him to return them. He wasn’t rude but wasn’t friendly either. I remember thinking he wasn’t smiley like his TV persona.

Joanna Lumley was an absolutely delightful. So friendly and down to earth.
One year she sang happy birthday to me as she visited our primary school on my 11th birthday. She was a regular visitor to our village because her mum lived there.

I met Bobby at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. He held the door open for me even though I was quite a distance away and did that awkward faster but not really getting anywhere faster walk to which he showed amusement.

DontStopMeNow7 · 08/06/2022 23:54

Again, not me, but I used to work in a pub where some scenes were shot for a movie starring George Cloonie and Matt Damon (I imagine one of the Oceans movies) . My boss told me all about it. He said they were a lot shorter than he expected and were incredibly nice. So jealous!

galvanizethis · 09/06/2022 00:04

Rolf Harris tried to kiss my friend (with tongue) when she was 14 - It wasn't one of the reported cases.
Worst celebs I've met were John Terry, Jeremy Clarkson, Mary Portas and Janet Street Porter
Best were, George Harrison, Frank Lampard and Martine McCutcheon

Pigeonpair1 · 09/06/2022 00:07

Years ago but Tom Cruise held the door open for me and 3 friends as we arrived at The Ivy - He had arrived just before us in a limo. He said he hoped we all had a great night. Nicole Kidman was sitting on her own at a little table in the bar waiting for him!

APJ1 · 09/06/2022 00:07

I was at school with an A-list comedienne (considered a national treasure) and I assure you she was ice-cold, mean and derived a lot of enjoyment from the misery of others.

I know you still aren't going to name her but as you've confirmed her name doesn't rhyme with Sworn Bench (my first thought too), I'm going to guess it rhymes with Show Grand. She is someone I like on TV but could also imagine her being less friendly off-screen.
