To think today is a good day to email your Conservative MP?

So, in case you haven't heard, there's a confidence vote tonight for Boris Johnson.

There need to be at least 180 votes of no confidence to force him to stand down.

So far, Conservative MPs have shown surprisingly little backbone and tolerated outrage after outrage - and, of course, that means we have.

It has to stop.

I'm a Labour supporter. In theory, having Johnson stay on, dragging an increasingly fractured Party further and further down, is great.

More chance of a Labour government every day he's there.

But - here's the thing - I can't stand it any more. I can't bear what he's doing to us.

He needs to go.

Let's list what Johnson has led us to - actually, no, here is a letter from a Conservative MP that spells out just what Johnson is responsible for, and why he must go, now:

If you have a Conservative MP, email them, today. Cut and Paste this letter if you are too busy to write much - the letter says it all, eloquently.

Your Conservative MP needs your help to show a little backbone - give them that help.

Honestly.

It's time.

No more.

I emailed mine this morning!

whiteroseredrose · 06/06/2022 14:49

Mine is Graham Brady so I don't think I need to!

Bretonbear · 06/06/2022 14:50

A very good day to be emailing!

chunkymandarincoulis · 06/06/2022 14:51

Mine is Nadine Dorries so there's no point!

She'll be continuing to stand by her man as usual.

nancy75 · 06/06/2022 14:52

Mine is Bob Stewart, I’d be surprised if the lazy sod bothers to vote at all & he certainly won’t vote against the great leader 🙄

thecatfromjapan · 06/06/2022 14:55

You know, I’ve had to wrestle with my conscience to post this thread.

As a Labour supporter, Johnson staying in post is great.

But … it’s bad on every other count. It’s bad for us, as people. It’s bad for institutions I care about. It’s actually bad for the U.K.

it’s weird for me. I’ve discovered I care far more about the U.K. than the Labour Party …

I emailed mine, not that she ever takes any notice and has defended the government by waffling on about irrelevancies and repeating lies every time I’ve contacted her in the past.
Anyway, YANBU.

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 14:59

Absolutely agree. I emailed mine this morning.

stepuporshutup · 06/06/2022 14:59

Imo it does not matter if he stays ir goes because Starmer has not a chance of ever being PM.

ivykaty44 · 06/06/2022 14:59

I have a Labour MP
though surrounded by blue seats

actiongirl1978 · 06/06/2022 15:00

Mine was one of the first to put in a letter this year so I don't think she needs any more convincing.

PurpleDaisies · 06/06/2022 15:00

Mine has already said he doesn’t want a leadership contest. I’ve emailed anyway.

LakieLady · 06/06/2022 15:01

Already have, did it this morning.

It won't make a difference though, they've drunk the ERG kool aid, are very right-wing, and will vote however the barking Brexiteers tell them, despite representing a Remain voting constituency.

But with a small majority, <3k, I rather suspect that they won't be my MP in 2 years time, if not sooner.

ivykaty44 · 06/06/2022 15:01

thecatfromjapan

but if Tory’s get another leader and they hypothetically got another term due to that change, how would you feel then?

heldinadream · 06/06/2022 15:02

I see your Nadine Dorries and raise you a Jacob Rees Mogg! 🙄

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 06/06/2022 15:03

Mine’s been an outspoken critic of Johnson for some time now and was actually the first MP to confirm he’d sent a no confidence letter last December. Just checked and he’s already confirmed he’s sent a letter of no confidence.

You poor love.

nearlyspringyay · 06/06/2022 15:13

Mine has already put in a letter.

OrangeSamphire · 06/06/2022 15:18

I have emailed mine. It’s Sheryll Murray so I expect to be ignored.

SafeMove · 06/06/2022 15:19

Has anyone got the copy and paste as I really need to write a work report?

I am with you OP - I wish we had a functional tory government, rather than the 'Tories are scum' partisan Labour supporter I have been previously. I would just like the electorate to be respected more then anything instead of treated with contempt (I can even admit that Rory Stewart would have been a great PM!).

Robbie Moore is my MP. He is as flippy floppy as Johnson but I will certainly give it a go!

TaranThePigKeeper · 06/06/2022 15:20

I sent my email this morning, though I have no expectation of his listening.

SafeMove · 06/06/2022 15:21

*more than anything

WTF475878237NC · 06/06/2022 15:21

I've emailed mine today but got a totally spineless letter last time telling me he was showing excellent leadership in the Ukraine crisis and was very apologetic. So I have no hope!

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2022 15:22

Here’s the list of MPs who have so far come out in support of Boris.
