To think today is a good day to email your Conservative MP?

So, in case you haven't heard, there's a confidence vote tonight for Boris Johnson.

There need to be at least 180 votes of no confidence to force him to stand down.

So far, Conservative MPs have shown surprisingly little backbone and tolerated outrage after outrage - and, of course, that means we have.

It has to stop.

I'm a Labour supporter. In theory, having Johnson stay on, dragging an increasingly fractured Party further and further down, is great.

More chance of a Labour government every day he's there.

But - here's the thing - I can't stand it any more. I can't bear what he's doing to us.

He needs to go.

Let's list what Johnson has led us to - actually, no, here is a letter from a Conservative MP that spells out just what Johnson is responsible for, and why he must go, now:

twitter.com/Jesse_Norman/status/1533699235417403393?s=20&t=9WUHqmHsvNjarF699i8wFw

If you have a Conservative MP, email them, today. Cut and Paste this letter if you are too busy to write much - the letter says it all, eloquently.

Your Conservative MP needs your help to show a little backbone - give them that help.

Honestly.

It's time.

No more.

I have emailed but he won't vote against Johnson. I still think he should know how his constituents feel

bigbluebus · 06/06/2022 16:03

Thankfully we got rid of ours last year and he was replaced by a LibDem MP - a result which showed the strength of feeling about the Conservative party in itself. Had he still been in post he would undoubtedly have supported Boris tonight and writing to him would have made not a jot of difference.

thecatfromjapan · 06/06/2022 16:07

Teeny bump to try and get people to see this ...

And 💐💐💐💐 to all of you who have written emails already.

Can I just say, if you've already emailed, say a week ago - do it again today because the vote is today ...

I emailed mine earlier, I think he's one of the 150 bag carriers though so is likely to back Johnson 😡I have included a few reminders of Johnson's rule breaking in case my MP had forgotten them ...

Johnson won't go voluntarily, the knob! I hope Theresa May is living her best life today 😁

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 16:11

Jesse Norman MP’s letter is really powerful. The Tories badly need someone with that sort of integrity at the moment. Shame he’s not standing. If I was them I’d go for a fresh non-crony face like Tom Tugendhat.
(…and I’m a Labour voter!)

ChiswickFlo · 06/06/2022 16:14

I've emailed mine
I mentioned the booing and jeering at the PM during HMQs jubilee celebrations
It'll get worse
The cult of personality is evaporating

PurpleDaisies · 06/06/2022 16:17

I got an interesting reply to my email, saying that Jesse Norman was one of the brightest MPs they’ve worked with. I wasn’t expecting that.

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 16:20

His CV is impressive! www.gov.uk/government/people/jesse-norman

Volterra · 06/06/2022 16:24

DH and I both emailed ours this morning. He’s one of the Tory whips so I expect him to vote for Johnson but felt I had to email.

Quincythequince · 06/06/2022 16:27

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/06/2022 15:12

You poor love.

And add to that the pathetic little lapdog, Grant Schapps as mine.

MarshaBradyo · 06/06/2022 16:29

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 16:20

A shame he ended his letter with it’s not a leadership bid

ThreeRingCircus · 06/06/2022 16:31

I have emailed mine, for the first time ever! Thank you for the prompt.

CapMarvel · 06/06/2022 16:34

Have emailed mine, not that I expect a response. This is a man who, when large parts of his consituency went over 10 days without power last year ignored all requests for help prefering to pitch up to a photo op outside of his area to plant a few fucking trees so I wouldn't expect him to bother to reply to something as unimportant as this.

InMySpareTime · 06/06/2022 16:35

I noticed on the list of MPs backing Boris Johnson, Graham Brady isn't on the list (maybe staying publicly impartial), but Boris Johnson is. How the fuck does he get a vote in this?

AlternativePerspective · 06/06/2022 16:39

My mp is Gareth bacon. He is worse than useless and doesn’t even reply to emails so there is literally no point.

HarrietDVane · 06/06/2022 16:41

I've emailed mine, for what it's worth. He's a huge fan of Johnson, and has already said he'll be backing him tonight, but I wanted to voice my concerns anyway.

RainingYetAgain · 06/06/2022 16:51

I emailed mine on Friday - long term pro Brexit supporter who defended Owen Patterson, -saying it's time for Johnson to go. I detailed pretty much what Jesse Norman said. Haven't had an acknowledgement so doesn't seem much point in another email

CornishPorsche · 06/06/2022 17:03

DowningStreetParty · 06/06/2022 16:20

How and why is that man a member of the Conservative party of all things?! Seems to go against so many other things he's done!

thecatfromjapan · 06/06/2022 17:28

OK.

It's 5:30.

It is so worth emailing your MP.

His team is busy trying to get MPs to publicly declare support.

He hasn't managed to get that magic number of publicly declared supporters.

MPs are wavering.

Send an email! Give your MP a little moral support!!!

OP posts:
meow1989 · 06/06/2022 17:33

I've emailed mine to implore that they reconsider their "100% support" announced today

2ndMrsdeWinter · 06/06/2022 17:37

Mine is on there. Stupid woman.

thecatfromjapan · 06/06/2022 17:37

To all those who've emailed: 💐💐💐💐

OP posts:
Flev · 06/06/2022 17:44

I've emailed mine but she has tweeted to say she'll be voting for Boris "because her inbox shows he commands a lot of confidence"

thecatfromjapan · 06/06/2022 17:46

Seriously, the longer this man is Leader of the Conservatives, and thus PM, the worse it gets.

He's addressed the 1922 Committee.

He's told them he'd do the partying all over again. He's not sorry.

Of course not.

He's told them he can rebuild trust.

That means:

The electorate are idiots. They'll forget. Fuck them.

You need to tell your MP that, no, you are not an idiot; the electorate are not idiots.

Johnson needs to go.

He's an insult to us all.

If your MP wants your vote, s/he needs to grow a spine and vote no confidence.

And if that MP doesn't - you will not vote for them.

Because you refuse to be taken for granted or treated like an idiot.

Right now, your MP is thinking about what Johnson has just told them.

Email and tell your MP to listen to you instead.
