Boris no confidence vote…he’s going to win isn’t he?

Spineless MPs….then he’ll limp along doing even more attention seeking stunts.

OP posts:
PlanetNormal · 06/06/2022 12:03

The consensus among the pundits is that he’s almost certainly going to win, but it’s the margin of the win which matters. If more than 1/3 of Tory MPs, so about 120, vote against him, he’s probably toast, and sooner rather than later.

Britain Elects

Snap poll | Conservative MPs should...

Vote to remove Boris Johnson: 59%
Vote to keep him: 28%

I don't think it should be a secret ballot. I think we have the right to know who has integrity and who doesn't.

romatheroamer · 06/06/2022 12:05

Mind you, there's something to be celebrated in the deep divisions in the party...let them tear each other apart.

This is encouraging...
Let us hope the Tories get rid of their (main) liability tonight. They certainly have precedent for dumping liabilities.

CoffeeWithCheese · 06/06/2022 12:10

Shit floats and he's a huge floppy haired turd that simply just won't flush.

Have emailed my MP but he's a spineless arsekisser.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 06/06/2022 12:10

to be honest he wasnt the only one at the party
i dont understand the vitriol,
who vomited?
spilt red wine?
what do they have to say, who are they?

They were probably fined.

Give Labour time to put together a decent opposition maybe?

No one has that much time

Nadine Dorries is having a go at Jeremy Hunt on twitter now for daring to vote against her beloved boris. She insinuated he was a terrible health secretatry for 6 years, which doesn't exactly cover her party in glory.

Holy fuck! I actually agree with Nadine Dorries about something.🤯 I think Nostradamus wrote about this.

JuliaDomna · 06/06/2022 12:14

No, not every politician is the same as Boris Johnson. He has absolutely no self control, no integrity and prepared to lie his way out of any sticky situation. The difference between him and Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner is that they have said they will step down if found guilty of breaking Covid laws.

I am not a Conservative voter but I do believe in Democracy. I want a Prime Minister with integrity, not a lying populist. I am sure there are such people in the Tory Party. I did not like Margaret Thatcher's policies but I could not fault her as a politician

N.B before anyone says it we don't vote for the Prime Minister, we vote for the candidate in our constituency. So it is perfectly possible to believe in democracy and want Boris Johnson gone.

CapYourDoff · 06/06/2022 12:14

I often wonder what the political landscape would look like with a Single Transferable Vote and multi seat constituency system. UK FPTP has to be the most undemocratic of systems (used by the US also), but rarely by many civilised and progressive, democratic countries.

As for Johnson, it says a lot about the calibre of those who would support him, that they actually would....

skodadoda · 06/06/2022 12:16

orwellwasright · 06/06/2022 08:34

I think you could be right. His days are numbered though. Even facing one will weaken him. If such a thing is possible.

The reason he'll win is because there's no one obvious to replace him now that dishy rishi has been shown to have a tax dodging missis.

There are plenty to replace him. No one is indispensable, particularly Johnson

beachcitygirl · 06/06/2022 12:16

Thank god I live in scotland & we will sooner than later get to leave this shit show of a union where selfish twats continually vote Tory whilst pensioners can't afford to eat & heat their homes. BOAK.

I really really feel for decent left wing English voters. You're stuck between a rock & a hard place.

If Boris goes my fear would be Pritti or Gove. Shudders

Boris is in charge and his stance that an apology (insincere at that) is enough is condoning what went on under his roof and leadership.

Boris has overall responsibility for any of the conditions resulting in law breaking at number 10. The only value in the public release of the names of the people involved in the incidences you bring up only serves to distract under whose blessings they happened.

lyns86x · 06/06/2022 12:17

Okay so I don't know a lot about politics, but genuinely interested here, if it wasn't for Brexit and partygate... what is so bad about the tories and why is labor the better option?

ChrisReasBathEggs · 06/06/2022 12:17

PigletJohn · 06/06/2022 11:37

It will be useful to see how many Tory arseholes continue to support this disgusting man.

The nation at large, however....

That is what counts really. If he stays on it will be worse for the party, and while we might get an alternative leader I can't see that going well either. I think the whole party needs a revamp and to get rid of those with views that do not reflect the public, especially young people. They risk damaging their reputation for a very long time by carrying on as usual, even with a different leader.

The help to buy shit is not going to help people, especially as we are about to enter a recession with interest rates climbing and high inflation. They have fucked their youth vote for a long time.

BruceAndNosh · 06/06/2022 12:20

Someone's done the maths and worked out that he can squeak a win now but cant risk another scandal, and they know more crap is about to hit the fan so he wouldn't win in a few weeks time...

MrsLargeEmbodied · 06/06/2022 12:24

to replace him
there is jeremy hunt
and tom tugenhat
and i am sure there was another name floated about

HRTQueen · 06/06/2022 12:29

I don’t think the Tories are foolish enough to support Jeremy Hunt to be leader. But good new for Labour if they do

If Johnson does stay Labour really need to be thinking about their leadership as something it’s working for Labour

i wouldn’t write off Johnson yet

Eh? Labour aren't going to throw the next election away by changing leaders now, especially if Johnson stays. That makes no sense.

Labour isn't the better option in my mind. They're both equally awful as it stands.

HRTQueen · 06/06/2022 12:35

Why are you so sure that Labour would win

the election is possibly another 2 1/2 years away

Starmer should be streets ahead and is isn’t something isn’t working for Labour but they can bury their head in the sand if they want

Tories still have time to line up a leader that will allowing them to still win a majority
