Booing Boris. AIBU to say he deserved it?

I'm not a boo-er, it doesn't come naturally to me. Yet thinking of the photo of the queen, alone, at her husband's funeral contrasted with his snivelling 'apology' for tolerating depraved behaviour in his workplace together with his other contemptuous behaviour over the course of parliament, I'd have found it hard to resist. His presence just seems like adding more insult to injury.

Fucking Boo...for when Boo just isn't enough!
(Thanks to Fred MacAulay for that one😹)

Most of the country are sick to the back teeth of party gate , it would be a very strange boss who didn't attend a leaving do at work .

Even old Keir was doing the same .

Very childish to boo and today wasn't the right occasion or place .

We lost a lot of staff during Covid times and didn't have a single leaving do because that bunch of hypocritical bastards made it illegal!!!!! The only thing we are sick of is that dick still being in power!

It's hard to say what the demographic is of the people booing. London is by and large a Labour city, and also a Remain city, and while Boris was voted in as mayor, he's widely hated by Remainers anyway due to Brexit.

If he's booed by Brexit voting Tories in the Home Counties then he's in more trouble.

bloodyunicorns · 03/06/2022 17:05

He bloody deserves booing.

Definitely don't think that it's unreasonable to boo him but unfortunately there seems to be enough politicians around him with too much vested interest in him remaining PM to see the back of him right now.

Didn't George Osbourne and Cameron get booed at the Olympic games in 2012? They still won the next election.

Never underestimate the English's love for the Tories on election day.

RedHorsesAreDangerous · 03/06/2022 17:09

He deserves way more than booing, and so do most of his snake-like cabinet. Yet, come election time, Tory supporters will all come slithering out from under their rocks yet again to do their duty and keep Labour out. (And God forbid that anything progressive might go on, like, oh, I don't know, an alliance or a Lib-Lab pact.)

As for "the Brits are wedded to the tories no matter what", that's the English. Generally. And, with the bewildering exception of places like Hartlepool, who deserve all they get in this ex-Northerner's eyes, only certain groups of the English at that.

I'm not a monarchist, and I don't think the Queen has necessarily been as whiter than white as she's sometimes painted. But I'd rather her a hundred times over Boris and his bunch of money-worshipping acolytes.

Would they be Londoners necessarily? I thought there were people who really love the royals who travel in for this kind of thing, sleep outside to get the best spot etc.

Boris lovers complaining about the inappropriateness of this makes it all the more delicious.

Loads of people travelled to London from the home counties and abroad to see the jubilee stuff.

Was passing through centre London yesterday and had to direct some lost people.

TimBoothseyes · 03/06/2022 17:15

I can just imagine the next interview now.
"So, Prime Minister, how do you feel about being booed during the Jubilee service?"..."erm, ah, firstly there was no booing and I was not at the jubilee service, let's focus on what I have delivered..."😂

Leaving dos were illegal at the time.

Im so pleased he was booed in such a public way, and the likes of Nadine Dorries can no longer say it’s only one of two Conservative MPs who are against him.

I expect that crowd included a lot of Home Counties former Tories. People have travelled from all over the world for this weekend.

And did anyone see the reading he was given by the Palace. I didn’t, but reports say the end paragraph was all about how we should be honest 🤣. Top trolling by the Palace there.

That’s ridiculous. Everyone I know who left their jobs in the pandemic didn’t have any leaving do at all - even those who retired after decades of work - because they were the rules - no gatherings or parties.

This is the reading.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be
known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally,
beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever
is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any
excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things

Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and
seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

meltypuff · 03/06/2022 17:26

Glad they booed. Don't think the boos were loud enough tbh

Mistlewoeandwhine · 03/06/2022 17:26

I’m glad he got booed. He sickens me. He’s a vile, lying, amoral flump.

Maybe we should have called both my parents funerals "leaving dos" then. We wouldn't have had to sit apart and we could have raised a glass for them as they went on their way.

ClaudineClare · 03/06/2022 17:30

I am absolutely delighted he was booed. Make sure you watch the version on Victoria Derbyshire's Twitter page. The boos have been muted by Sky and the Beeb when rebroadcasting.

WimpoleHat · 03/06/2022 17:32

The crowd at the jubilee is about as friendly as he can hope for. He should get used to this.

Spot on. Richly deserved too…..

ShandaLear · 03/06/2022 17:40

Hbh17 · 03/06/2022 16:17

Nobody deserves to be booed, and it's rather juvenile behaviour.

Boris Johnson does. He lied to the queen, bodged Brexit, and broke the very laws he mad and then tried to gaslight the population into disbelieving what they could see and hear with their own eyes and ears. He has eroded trust in democracy and government and he treats us like fools. So yeah, he deserves every single boo he receives. He does not deserve the high office he has. He brings shame on the title of Prime Minister.

BlackTourmaline · 03/06/2022 17:41

Yadnbu….I hope this does for him 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thwomp · 03/06/2022 17:47

There wasn’t any booing.

The crowd were chanting “Boo-ris, Boo-ris” in a show of support, signifying that they’re sick to death of this ‘Partygate’ nonsense.

Make me feel quite proud.

Inappropriate.

It was a Thanksgiving Service for HM Elizabeth II

Really bad behaviour of public
