Booing Boris. AIBU to say he deserved it?

I'm not a boo-er, it doesn't come naturally to me. Yet thinking of the photo of the queen, alone, at her husband's funeral contrasted with his snivelling 'apology' for tolerating depraved behaviour in his workplace together with his other contemptuous behaviour over the course of parliament, I'd have found it hard to resist. His presence just seems like adding more insult to injury.

It beats me how people accidentally come across racist Twitter accounts. It’s never happened to me.

ClaudineClare · 04/06/2022 14:03

Maybe it's like searching for tractors and coming up with porn?

Blossomtoes · 04/06/2022 14:04

Good point. Maybe that’s what it is.

DuncinToffee · 04/06/2022 14:04

I have but I have never retweeted them as I check them out first.
It's very easy to retweet a post you like without second thought and also very dangerous.

ClaudineClare · 04/06/2022 14:13

Yes, always a good thing to check before retweeting.

Alexandra2001 · 04/06/2022 14:15

I don't think any boos are appropriate when folk are on there way into a cathedral to mark the Queen's Jubilee but there you go

I'd disband the monarchy in a heartbeat and would put BJ on trial for Brexit and his handling of Covid BUT booing as guests arrive at a church service is inappropriate.... its simply bad manners.

Yes I'd disband it too but it all just seemed so disrespectful to all the military and cathedral staff to reduce it to a Jeremy Kyle style baying mob scenario.

Yet the point still stands Kay Burley said clearly 'cheers for the PM!' on Sky news. Inconvenient but true. Google it.

Perhaps others could report the unrelated offensive racist tweets they posted?

Twitter is alive with theories about doctored tapes, BBC moving to be near the booers, XR being there......

The one thing that is certain.

There were cheers and boos.

Yes Duncin, I've learnt my lesson thankyou Flowers. Apologies again to anyone offended by others posting unrelated offensive content when my original post was a link to Sky news.

Sorry again everyone. I will read everyone's entire tweeting history before linking in future, promise.

I think that some MPs have retweeted comments and liked tweets from accounts who have posted things they agree with...without checking the history of the person who posted them.

Racists do tend to post stuff that some Tory MPs agree with - even if the stuff they post isn't racist. The tweet could be gender critical, it could be making a point about people crossing the channel, about the EU and Brexit.but the person making the point has a history of racism.

Maybe people should separate the point being made from the person making the point?

DuncinToffee · 04/06/2022 14:23

You know we live in a democracy so people are allowed different views and to express them how they like

Including booing when going into a church.

It can be interesting to read the posting history of someone when they are making a point you agree with.

Of course, just because you agree with one of their views does not mean you agree with all of their views.

No need to apologise on my behalf Janiie. I think it is important to see the real face behind the type of #BackBoris Twitter account you inadvertently linked to. At first glance some of those accounts seem to be just a bit dim, possibly good for comedy value, but digging deeper often reveals something much nastier.

Volterra · 04/06/2022 14:33

Frequently mentioning the other word along with the booing serves a couple of purposes in terms of attempting to influence other people’s opinions. It attempts to minimise the booing and also by typing the C word along with Boris’s name it pushes that into Google alongside his name overtime. Threads on MN are pretty quick to show up on Google.

Also there is something called the primacy and recency effect where people have a tendency to remember the first and last things they hear on a subject hence the repeating of the C word.

DuncinToffee · 04/06/2022 14:36

Thanks for the Johnson style apology Janiie.
But seriously it is always a good idea to check your sources before sharing them, for your own protection as well.

cakeorwine · 04/06/2022 14:38

We need to 'Boo Boris better'

Get Booing done

Boo Boris in a bus?

It's hand that Brexit, Boris and Booing all start with a 'B'

jgw1 · 04/06/2022 14:43

I think I have got it worked out.

The cheers were for Boris.

The boos were from a small proportion of the ex Mrs Johnsons who have infiltrated the crowd and were aimed at Carrie.

Incorrect.

The cheers were for Boris.

The boos were organised by Royal Courtiers to create a news story that was not about Harry and Meghan. If you look carefully you can see that it is carefully choreographed booing by the Guards present.

I disagree. And normally I’m a stickler for respect. Much as I detested her, I was shocked by the booing at Thatcher’s funeral. I felt so sorry for her family. Johnson? No.

'Any time you want to debate why it was appropriate for a 56year old man to have a birthday party whilst the same man was denying that opportunity to millions of children, do let me know. I've been waiting months.'

And yet I've answered umpteen times. It wasn't a party it was a few mins in an office with people saying happy birthday. I'm so sorry if you think this is a party Confused

<before you ask yes if you burgled my house you're still a burglar!!>

Why are you excusing this though, when children's birthday parties were banned? What if, after shopping for essentials at the supermarket, parents and children had arranged to huddle round a park picnic table with drinks and cake for 5 minutes for someone's birthday? Would that have been ok in the eyes of the law at the time? The law that BJ told us about night after night. If caught, they'd have been fined. I couldn't give a FF who had a party or met up with who but you must see the hypocrisy of it all.

That would have been fine, because the law that @JaniieJones has read clearly stated that parties were permitted for up to 20 minutes.
