Booing Boris. AIBU to say he deserved it?

I'm not a boo-er, it doesn't come naturally to me. Yet thinking of the photo of the queen, alone, at her husband's funeral contrasted with his snivelling 'apology' for tolerating depraved behaviour in his workplace together with his other contemptuous behaviour over the course of parliament, I'd have found it hard to resist. His presence just seems like adding more insult to injury.

'If you are engaging in debate, you must be open to different points of view, acceptance of evidence and the possibility that you could be wrong.'

Exactly! Please refer to my previous clip of Kay Burley saying live on telly 'cheers for the PM'.

I think we can all agree he got a mixed response which is not surprising. I don't think any boos are appropriate when folk are on there way into a cathedral to mark the Queen's Jubilee but there you go.

Do you think it appropriate for the Prime Minister's staff to party the night before the Duke of Edingburgh's funeral?

Apologies @ClaudineClare i don't read everyone's tweets when they are retweeted. It is has been retweeted 12k times. The fact remains however he didn't just get boos.

Not sure why folk are posting offensive racist tweets?

I think it will worry the Tories too. The mood has changed. That said, Keir arriving to silence isn’t great for Labour. I think a lot of people don’t even know who he is.

I think people want to support Labour but can't because of Labour's hatred of womens rights. Stony silence is what Labour deserves, if not being booed too. I don't like either party and think both Boris and Keir deserve to be booed. Both of them. As a woman with vulnerability and a disability I feel like neither of them represent me. I am really frightened.

'I think it's at least possible that if Johnson had admitted to all this back in December, called it a mistake and pretended to be humble, it might genuinely all be behind him now.'

There was nothing to admit, he was at work! Just like whatshisname, Sir Keir QVC.

So what was the ABBA gathering all about then? That didn't look like a work event to me. Think most of the public would agree with that.

My issue is that I've known people to pay £200 quid fines for meet ups that were more minor than what happened with Boris, yet he gets just a £50 fine for one event. How is that fair? The whole police investigation stinks of corruption to me.

And if this virus was so dangerous, why were they all happy to mix so much in the first place? We locked the country down and ruined some people's lives for a virus that didn't seem to bother them very much.

I'm not forgetting about partgate, but it's not really at the forefront of my mind much to be honest either, it's the other failures of this party - austerity when our national debt has only got bigger (even before the pandemic) the corruption, elimination of rights, the stupid idiotic policies like bringing back imperial measurements, Brexit failures, and now plunging more people into poverty. I think the public have clung onto partygate as it demonstrates the character of our leading party and explains why things are in the state they are in. I just feel a bit embarassed about the state of politics if I am being honest. They are children.

AppleandRhubarbTart · 04/06/2022 12:07

People know he didn't only get boos, though? I haven't heard a version yet where there aren't some cheers audible. It's simply that the boos are more significant, because of the particular occasion and crowd.

DuncinToffee · 04/06/2022 12:07

Maybe you should look at what or who you retweet.

Please, please can we not rerun this conversation for the eleventy billionth time? I don’t know about anyone else but I’m bored witless by it.

Yes Mr Johnson, we'll stop talking about your disgraceful behaviour as soon as you do the decent thing and step down. Until then I'll keep sharing my opinion....

Yes duncin I will ensure to read everyone's past comments when there is a reweet from Sky news..

Still curious as to why anyone would post racist tweets on here?!!

Blossomtoes · 04/06/2022 12:13

To show your “sources” for what they are. You know what they say about judging people by the company they keep? Huge, own goal. Massive.

Yes you should really when you retweet a random person on twitter. It only takes seconds to look at their profile.

Sky news was the source. HTH. Did you hear the cheers?

I’ve already told you I watched live and heard the boos.

Your source isn’t Sky News, you linked to a disgusting, racist’s account.

Exactly.

I have excellent hearing. I heard it live. I can rely on my own ears. I don't need to rely on and retweet racists to back my opinion. I can say, factually, there were some cheers but far, far more boos for Boris and Carrie Johnson.

SueSaid · 04/06/2022 12:27

'I heard the cheers and the boos, HTH'

Yes it does help thanks. Cheers and boos folks, cheers and boos.

The boos will reverberate around the Tory party that this was on a global platform and from a royalist audience. He is a lying charleton and unfit for office. He needs to go and with it this style of politics that has eroded the NHS, public debate, rights to protest, judiciary, education and our childrens wellbeing (where are the air filters, where is the education top up, where is the increased support to mental health or youth services). This is small state, corporate, elitist crap and the whole lot need to go.

Boos and cheers

You can show a clip from any of the whole bit of this video and interpret it how you want

As an aside, has Johnson got a white mark on the back of his coat?

Can't be a pile on when the poster vanished.

The use of bots and troll farms is an interesting point though to debate.
Do you have an opinion on troll farms?

I've always wondered if bots post on other threads that aren't politics related. Baby names for example. Putting 'Sacha' as a possible contender

The thing that bothers me with this is that it isn't even subtle and I very much doubt these bots do much to sway public opinion. It has become much more obvious since they decided that the best chance of winning the next GE is to get the mum vote (without coming up with any policies that might persuade them, which is odd). Just derails threads and makes me hate the Tory party even more. It has the opposite effect.

I am a floating voter BTW, I have voted for all three main parties in the past. Ashamed to say I voted Conservative in 2010 (although in my defense, the Tory MP where I lived is one is the few decent ones left)

Unusual for a crowd who I would imagine is predominantly going to be the sort of people who would vote Tory to boo Johnson.

The demographics of people who would want to go to St Pauls to see the Royals are probably similar to the kind of people Johnson would want to have as supporters.

Unless they went to see Harry and Meghan

If you are trying to get a rise out of me, it is not going to work. It is obvious why I posted that tweet.

'Unusual for a crowd who I would imagine is predominantly going to be the sort of people who would vote Tory to boo Johnson.'

I disagree. The people that go to these things are either fans or critics/activists. Hence the cheers and boos.
