Booing Boris. AIBU to say he deserved it?

I'm not a boo-er, it doesn't come naturally to me. Yet thinking of the photo of the queen, alone, at her husband's funeral contrasted with his snivelling 'apology' for tolerating depraved behaviour in his workplace together with his other contemptuous behaviour over the course of parliament, I'd have found it hard to resist. His presence just seems like adding more insult to injury.

It's interesting that the ones on Twitter went with the boos are fake it's all a conspiracy, whereas the ones on here chose the how terribly inappropriate pearl clutch approach. Obviously neither approach has worked, but they evidently felt different tactics were required for different audiences.

Volterra · 04/06/2022 09:57

There was one who had 'Spring' or something similar in their name i think, was absolutely exhausting as was like a dog with a bone.l

Blossomtoes · 04/06/2022 09:58

Oh God was there a worse one @cakeorwine? Thank goodness I’ve forgotten them!

CounsellorTroi · 04/06/2022 09:59

I’m sure the Queen would have liked to boo him if she could.

SueSaid · 04/06/2022 10:01

'I notice the bots haven't come back to defend Johnson, too busy on Twitter pretending there were no boos.'

Tbf it does depend on which clip you see. ITV unsurprisingly pushing the 'boos', mind didn't they show a clip during a NATO meeting where he'd allegedly been snubbed but when you watched the whole clip he hadn't been at all. You mustn't let the media brainwash you.

I've seen a clip on Sky where he was cheered. As he should be Grin.

She probably did.

Oh cake debate points rather than trying to arrange a little pile on. Honestly.

There were quite a few of them, mostly in brexit arms. They all disappeared suddenly, name changed most likely.

Shame advanced search has gone

Blossomtoes · 04/06/2022 10:14

That’s why I don’t remember. I never ventured onto Brexit Arms, there was too much to get angry about elsewhere!

itsgettingweird · 04/06/2022 10:17

All clips I e seen have cheers and boos.

It's not so much a about focussing on the cheers imo. There are still people who do support him.

It's about the fact people booed and what that says. And what that says alongside the fact his approval rating personally and for the party is dwindling. He's losing support of his supporters. And that's something he should be concerned about. But he doesn't appear to be because he thinks he's gods gift to the country.

His arrogance will be his biggest downfall.

Yes, exactly. I'd have been amazed if there weren't some cheers, that's his crowd. It's the boos that are the big deal though.

Blossomtoes · 04/06/2022 10:04

She probably did.

Yes while she was watching it on telly snuggled with a blanket, corgi on her lap and a cuppa.

I hope Boris gets booed every single time he appears in public from now on to remind the tories that the public haven't forgotten and will never let this go even if they're desperate to forget. We owe it to all those who died alone (my cousin included) not to forget.

Yes. It’s easy to forget how big MN has become these days and how often it finds itself in the tabloids.

DuncinToffee · 04/06/2022 10:31

No media clips of them leaving, wonder why that was........

Can't be a pile on when the poster vanished.

The use of bots and troll farms is an interesting point though to debate.
Do you have an opinion on troll farms?

I've always wondered if bots post on other threads that aren't politics related. Baby names for example. Putting 'Sacha' as a possible contender

Yeah, there are. I think the booing is worse.

Johnson is not having a good week.

First came that MN interview which demonstrated admirably why he swerves interviews as much as possible as his performance was abysmal. Then getting booed by what should be his core supporters. Trouble comes in threes, they say. What will be next?

One a side note, why does he manspread so massively? He was even doing it at St Paul's. Carrie was squished up in her seat because of him.

Havanananana · 04/06/2022 10:58

Private Eye, as is often the case, get it right again on the latest cover.

Booing Boris. AIBU to say he deserved it?
SerendipityJane · 04/06/2022 11:02

With all this "people have moved on" nonsense, it's hard not to recall the scene in "Waldorf Salad" where Basil browbeats the guests into saying how wonderful it is ...

You see? Satisfied customers. If this little hotel is not to your taste, then you are free to say so, that is your privilege.

And I shall of course refund your money. I know how important it is to you Americans.

But you must remember that here in Britain, there are things we value more, things that perhaps in Americayou've forgotten about, but which to we British are far, far more important...

- I'm not satisfied.

...

I'm quite mellow IRL. Right up until some Tory twat tells me what I should be thinking. Then I can get jolly cross. I'll move on when I am ready my sycophantic chum. And I'll be ready when that repulsive excuse for a person is dragged out of number 10 leaving fingernail marks on the doors to face the real consequences of his appalling behaviour.

Yes, I have seen that clip. I meant the official broadcasters.

I find MN interesting to watch as it is used by political bots and has been for years. You can tell how worried various factions are at any given time by the amount and type of activity seen on threads like this.

It’s not just Tory HQ, though obviously is currently. Message for Tory HQ you lost my Dad before he died earlier this year and my Stepmum is currently disgusted - that’s quite a big achievement to lose their support.

I was thinking the same. They've largely given up defending the undependable on other threads, but obviously the booing has got Conservative Central Office seriously worried. They were obviously planning to use BJ's involvement in the service to try to show some gravitas and profit from association with something feelgood, and it all went horribly bad.

Problem is they are good at it.

So many people respond to the likes JJ and clav because they way they write is designed to get a response.

We train to train ourselves better not to bite.

With partygate I think that has worked against them, as it has kept the stories on the front page of Active far longer than if they had not engaged.
