On holiday abroad in foreign country we have never come to before with our 2 young children. Have woken up at midnight to find partner creeping out of the room, not back yet an hour and a half later??? It is our 3rd night here... not taken phone, car keys or wallet? Feeling concerned!!!

Bored much OP?

BetterDaysareComming · 03/06/2022 08:00

Is he known to sleepwalk?

WildCoasts · 03/06/2022 08:00

Anyone would be concerned if someone was missing. I'm going with he's jet-lagged, can't sleep, so has popped out. I wouldn't consider him missing at this point and would just go to sleep and ask him where he went when he got back.

Clawdy · 03/06/2022 08:06

This is a bit like the start of a Sophie Hannah novel! Which means it will have a ridiculous improbable ending.......

PriamFarrl · 03/06/2022 08:06

I think jet lag, he’s gone down to the bar for a coffee or drink, sat down with it and gone to sleep. The staff have either not noticed or left him there.

LondonWolf · 03/06/2022 08:08

My ex used to do this because he was an alcoholic. I didn't know that at the time but it became more apparent as time went by. Later I found out he'd regularly cheated if the opportunity arose too.

legalseagull · 03/06/2022 08:11

Gone to put the towels down on the sunloungers.

MarvellousMay · 03/06/2022 08:15

Can’t sleep and gone to explore?
Glad I’m not in a relationship with those who would be “furious and worried” or think I was looking for prostitutes Hmm

ApolloandDaphne · 03/06/2022 08:16

My DH does this from time to time on holiday. He can't sleep and doesn't want to disturb us so goes off to find a quiet spot in the hotel lobby to catch up on any urgent work stuff or read his book. He always takes his phone though.

spaceman1 · 03/06/2022 08:19

@PorkySisyphus 😂

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/06/2022 08:25

Did you fall asleep op? And did he come back?

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 03/06/2022 08:31

Hate it when you spend ages on a thread only to find the mystery hasn't yet been solved!

SaintJavelin · 03/06/2022 08:32

I’ve never understood why some posters blame stupid threads on bored students during half term etc.

Somehow I think that students have more important things to do than shitpost on Mumsnet.

This!! Also someone upthread has said the OP has been around for years yet people are still saying half term/students etc.

This -

'First, the professor suddenly left home for a fortnight without telling anyone of his destination, with the family later learning that he had been to Prague.'

I think, and hope, that @whatdoesthefoxsay 's husband came back just after her post, they had a muted argument, then a cuddle, fell asleep, and are now having breakfast.

Returning to Mumsnet in the middle of the night was probably not even a tiny blip on her radar. Hopefully, she will remember us soon, and come back to fill us in.

justfiveminutes · 03/06/2022 12:14

Oh come on op. Let us know if it all turned out ok or whether you're currently coordinating a police response to a missing person.

AuntieMarys · 03/06/2022 07:58

Why is it always MN blokes who wander off from hotel rooms, go out without money or means of contact, go out without a mobile phone with enough charge in their battery, wander off without saying where they're going despite the woman being stuck in the hotel with the kids, yada yada.

how do these knuckle-heads manage to drag themselves through the day and hold down a job long enough to draw a pay packet. Unbelievable

It tends to be male partners' weird behaviour which gives rise to Mumsnet threads because the majority of posters on Mumsnet are heterosexual women. I'd have thought that was obvious!

Because they think they're oh so witty, clever and original when really they are sad pathetic little women. No apologies from them being wrong either when the OP turns out to be genuine and in distress!

felineweird · 05/06/2022 14:29

Christ almighty, still no update?!
