Partner gone missing from hotel room

On holiday abroad in foreign country we have never come to before with our 2 young children. Have woken up at midnight to find partner creeping out of the room, not back yet an hour and a half later??? It is our 3rd night here... not taken phone, car keys or wallet? Feeling concerned!!!

OP posts:

Hopefully he's back and she has given him an ear full.

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 03/06/2022 02:40

Maybe he’s gone for a drink?

WibblyWobblyJane · 03/06/2022 02:53

I think you are lovely for not stopping him. I’m sure he’s gone for a walk, a drink, a moment alone to be himself. It’s good and you should take a chance to do the same.

maybe there is a backstory that changes my opinion, but I think it’s important for people to have their moments of independence.

Figstar4eva · 03/06/2022 02:58

Hotel bar? He couldn't sleep? Why didn't you ask him where he was going?

Orcasmom · 03/06/2022 02:58

My partner did this once. He realised it was his only chance to sit in the hot tub alone. Naturally I assumed he was dead and said next time leave a note!

I'm so glad I'm not the only madwoman who jumps to 'he's dead' in any scenario!

NoCleverNickname · 03/06/2022 03:12

I can't believe some of the replies on this thread! It's been an absolute tonic to get up this morning (I don't live in the UK) and read something so hilarious (though worrisome for OP)

Particularly the poster who wrote "Creeping as his back hunched over and on tip toes?" and also "Why didn't you hiss "where are you going?".

I nearly spat my coffee out all over the PC!

I'm sure that your husband hasn't gone out because he's an alcoholic in need of his next drink, a druggie in need of his next fix, a sex fiend who's had to find a prostitute because he can't wait for you to wake up, a white slave trader wanting to open up a new corridor through whatever foreign country that you're in, or any other random thing that a mind can think up.

Although I, like others here, don't understand why you didn't ask (perhaps whispering instead of hissing) or turn a lamp/light on to alert him you were awake? Or even cough?

Anyways I hope that you have found him!

One post and the OP buggers off. COME ON PEOPLE!

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/06/2022 03:20

I'm bored tonight at work, it's quiet. It's obvious they have buggered off.

ventreàterre · 03/06/2022 03:20

I'd be equal parts terrified something had happened to him, as unlikely as that is, and furious that he could be so inconsiderate and dim-witted. Leaving you alone with the kids (so you can't even go out looking for him), with no note of where he went and no way to reach him? What a jerk! I'd make certain he learned his lesson well when he returned.

ObjectionSustained · 03/06/2022 03:52

OP has been around since 2014 so I suspect it's not a joke?

How worrying. Have you got a phone in your room? Could you call down to reception to see if anyone has seen him? Where are you staying? What's the time there?

I'd be calling the police if he wasn't back soon tbh.

joey197860 · 03/06/2022 04:47

Sometimes it is refreshing not to be tied to the phone and maybe he didn't take his wallet because he doesn't need it and it is safer to leave it in the room. I think you need to keep an eye on him to make sure his mental health is okay but frankly, I frequently do things like that. If I get caught I tell the family I'm off duty for a while so don't disturb me.

LaLoose · 03/06/2022 06:09

He has played this well. She can’t leave the room to find him and she can’t contact him. I’m betting he knows this. OP has been around for years. I hope you’re OK OP, but it doesn’t look great..,

Elephantia · 03/06/2022 06:11

My guess is he went for a wank in the hotel toilets!

Nutellaspoon · 03/06/2022 06:13

I'd say he's got the runs, didn't want the entire family go hear and smell the hour or so sitting on the loo so ran off to find a men's toilets somewhere in the hotel which would presumably be pretty empty if it's night time.

itsgettingweird · 03/06/2022 06:17

For those questioning timing. It works out if they are in Europe an hour ahead.

Posted here 12.30 and 1.30am there.

Is he back yet?

daisychain01 · 03/06/2022 06:26

Why is it always MN blokes who wander off from hotel rooms, go out without money or means of contact, go out without a mobile phone with enough charge in their battery, wander off without saying where they're going despite the woman being stuck in the hotel with the kids, yada yada.

how do these knuckle-heads manage to drag themselves through the day and hold down a job long enough to draw a pay packet. Unbelievable

?? Lovely for not saying " where the Jeff are you sneaking off to"?

Pennyhill22 · 03/06/2022 06:32

Gone to the local brothel. My friends DP was found in one when he went "missing"from hotel room..

MichelleScarn · 03/06/2022 06:33

What was the conclusion of the similar thread if anyone remembers? Where the dh disappeared at the end of the holiday and had left passport luggage etc?

Watermelon45 · 03/06/2022 06:37

Is he back yet?

lightand · 03/06/2022 06:44

Gone for a walk?
It could be anything! Gone for a chat with someone as cant sleep? List is endless

SophieJo · 03/06/2022 06:51

The fact that the op hasn’t come back to update makes me very suspicious of this thread. Why did she not go after him or call out at least?

Louise0701 · 03/06/2022 06:57

@NoCleverNickname the drug corridor suggestion was a clear joke relating to Top Boy. Nobody actually thinks that’s what he is doing.

JugglingJanuary · 03/06/2022 07:13

I don't know why she didn't hiss 'where are you going??'..

but woukd you really leave two young children alone in a hotel room to see if you could find your DH?
