For me it would have been an animal name
Wolf
Eagle
Striker (bike)
Jess/Jessica

I wanted to be Frankie. Or Charlie. Or Jack. Basically a unisex kind of a name.

I was desperate to be Kerry or Zoe.

almostsinglemum · 30/05/2022 11:13

Layla.
My real name begins and starts with the same letters as this but is less glamorous 😂

Fulbe · 30/05/2022 15:20

Sonia. You can tell I was a child of the 80s.

My daughter has a ridiculous name and I only agreed to it on the basis that we will pay for her to change her name later in life if she wants 😂

Ariel because of the Disney movie

Amaryllis
Annabelle

the names of my dolls, I loved both names and thought they were very chic

@ChristineCagney11 I had the purdey cut or the 'pageboy' as my mother called it.

Pageboy - that's how it was sold to me too!

I remember trying to create a flick in the fringe, using my sister's Ellnett strong hold hairspray to hold it in place - then going outside and the wind would cause my entire fringe to lift up in a flap 😳

I was born in 1970 in Ireland and my name is quite exotic. I've met very few other people with my name, it's not an Irish name BTW
When I was a child we lived in England and no one could spell my name I didn't like my name. I wanted to be called Sharon or Tracey.
Now I love my name and that it's unusual.

I have a hypernated name. My mum insisted on the teachers / anyone I came into contact with - calling me by the full name. It is very long winded. I also had my hair cut in a Bob and clunky lace up shoes I felt so ugly.

I dreamed of either being called Ariel (I was a big fan and also wanted long red hair!) Or...Starla.

We had a girl called Star in the year above she had beautiful blonde long hair, she could sit on it. At the time I thought she had the most wonderful name.

Tessa

I’ve always liked my actual name. My parents did a good job.

buntywindermere · 30/05/2022 20:18

Sky.
Like, Sky Mangel from Neighbours. I just thought she was so cool.

zazasabore · 30/05/2022 20:22

As a young child I wanted my future children to be called Mandarin and Tweezers.

Rhodora · 30/05/2022 20:29

Hannah or Victoria

My taste in names hasn’t changed much as at the moment I like Howard and Felicity for a potential future child.

ReginaFilange001 · 30/05/2022 20:31

Probably something I considered cool and girlie - like Candy. My real name is quite old fashioned and out of step with the Nicola, Emma, Sarah names that were popular when I was at school. I think I've grown into my name now - and Candy sounds like a stripper name so 🤷🏼

Carol for some unknown reason. This obviously dates me and I much prefer my given name.

I remember writing to a penfriend saying my favourite girl's and boy's names were Kevin and Carol and that's what I'd call my children😆

Saw a pp say Toni and, yes, that was another one I thought was so cool. And Teri.
