Two duvets / king sided bed

knitteddollblue · 26/05/2022 19:44

AIBU to think having two single duvets on a king sized bed is mental

Why not have a big fluffy king sized one

I know someone who has two single light duvets it makes no sense

AIBU?

Two kingsize ones on our kingsize, so I can roll up in a cocoon and DH can have a corner covering his middle but his feet sticking out, the weirdo. I only had one when I was single but if I was to become single now after seeing the light, I’d stick to two in case of the aforementioned ‘visitors’

Scandicc · 26/05/2022 20:02

@knitteddollblue Haha no I have always just been perfectly fine with the single one. Its a goosedown one so its nice and fluffy, I just don't see the need for it to be any wider I suppose! 😅

I grew up in Norway and 2 single duvets is normal

Omg he is from norway!!!

So you think he's lying about being single? Any other clues?

Scandicc · 26/05/2022 20:03

@Norgie and I are probably from the same country, hence the same reference 😃

You are like me
I have fluffy double x 2 and weighted blanket and also heated blanket 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have a kingsize top sheet and superking thin duvet. 2 smaller duvets seem drafty.

I have been known to sleep under both of them while DH is under a sheet because he’s melting

Doofas · 26/05/2022 20:06

Two single duvets on a king sized bed here. To keep warm and snug in the night. If we had the space it'd be separate rooms so that I could keep warm sheet but have to listen so closely to the train chugging through the room.

Libertaire · 26/05/2022 20:12

We have always had two single duvets on a superking bed. it’s so much better than one. Each partner can have their own preferred weight, the hot person can pull up their up to their knees and the cold person can snuggle up completely, and nobody wakes up uncovered in the night. It’s definitely the way forward.

This is a man without a pArtner... apparently

Many European countries use a duvet each - it is sensible and practical and if i ever have to share it feels weird and horrible.

I’d be more concerned that it looked a mess with a crack down the middle of the bed.

This guy is apparently single?

DH and I had two single duvets on a king size bed. Bottom sheet, top sheet and two duvets = bliss. I'm now a widow and still have my single duvet. Why would I fight with a bigger duvet and it's cover?

knitteddollblue · 26/05/2022 20:25

I think i am now a single duvet convert if i had a boyfriend
But i still want my fluffy high tog duck feather duvet

Hiw often do you all wash your duvet? I put mines into laundrette once per month?? Is that weird??

We switched to two single duvets after having the best sleep ever in holiday.

It's excellent, we can have different togs if we wish and no more duvet stealing!

so get a big one. I really don't get why you are so invested in someone's duvet habit especially when countless pp have pointed out the many many advantages.

and yes, you don't need to get it cleaned monthly - that's wasteful of resources

It’s common in Scandi countries. I like it, I guess it’s just the norm for him and he has it as default. He might be single now but that doesn’t mean he always sleeps alone 😂

BalloonsAndWhistles · 27/05/2022 20:13

We have two doubles on our SuperKing and it’s been a game changer. No more duvet wars in the night. Would never go back to sharing.
