And you're in hospital.

If your pain is really bad, and you think something is wrong, cry out. Scream even.

I am on Day 4 post removal of part of my intestine after it was removed due to intestinal blockage. It could've killed me. I was in agony on arrival, the pain was like waves, and I made this really clear but I was calm. I manage pain by deep breathing and focusing on my breaths

Surgeon apologised and said things could've been different but we didn't know you were in such a bad way Confused they only knew when it turned septic.

See also, delivery of my DD. Upon arrival, 3rd baby, I'm going to deliver soon.

Midwife 'are you sure? Okay well we will examine you. I'm just going to do some stuff and I'll be back soon'

I said I need to push. Oh are you sure? Are you sure you're ready? You don't seem to be Confused

Left the room again. DD was caught by H at the side of the bed. He pressed the emergency buzzer and she was already crying by the time they ran in

Oh yes indeedy. I was in hospital as a very shy and anxious 19-year old in agony with stomach pains. I was there with my mum and withdrew into myself because of the pain. My mum asked for pain relief on my behalf and was told by the lovely nurse 'She doesn't look like she's in pain'.

Turned out to be a ruptured appendix by the way... and my mum was furious!

Oh yes. DD was Orem, waters had gone so they decided to induce me. But I started a natural Labour as they set up. I birth FAST. I was silent and ready to give birth, a drip had been set up to induce me but then I felt a change and movement and was ready to push.
I told them. I repeated myself. I ended up saying ‘DO NOT USE THE. DRIP’ multiple times as they were insistent. They said I was able to talk etc, I was practically pleading with them as I know my body. They smirked, she did say she wouldn’t and would check me in a moment. The other distracted me doing the exam and she got the drip going.
It was like being disemboweled doing that on a fast birth (I have very short active labours, about ten min and this was number four’.
My uterus went into shock and I lost 2.5 litres of blood as it wouldn’t contract, they also fucked that up as they thought I’d had an epidural and treated the loss WITH NO PAIN RELEIF.

Unbelievably my friend lost her womb with similar rough treatment and ignoring her a few years later in a bit dissimilar way.

Definitely op.
The 2nd night after a planned section (that became complex when it appeared my uterus and bladder had kindly fused together) I was in the most pain I'd ever been in in my life.

My insides were on fire. But I sat on the edge of the bed hunched and silent because I couldn't move, I stayed there for 12 hours. Each time it was someone different who came in to tell me there was nothing wrong and it was wind. The only person who showed me care was a lovely health care assistant who left in the evening and came back in the morning, she commented it looked like I hadn't moved. I told her I hadn't.

Reader, it was not wind. The surgeon hadn't cleaned my insides out properly and the amniotic fluid was irritating the hell out of my abdominal cavity. Found that out the next afternoon when the surgeon came back to sheepishly tell me after noting I'd been readmitted.

@Driftingonawave dont want to derail
the thread but THIS HAPPENED TO ME!!!!! My organs were literally welded together with scar tissue - I could not wee at all!!! OMG this is so validating because everyone thought it was a second and elective CS I should just get on with it.

and breathe

YAsoNBU. It’s been shown again and again that women’s pain is not believed and under treated, ditto POC. His help WOC.

My experience confirms your theory, OP.

I have multiple health problems causing pain and have landed myself in hospital several times. I'm like most other posters here, high pain threshold and prefer to quietly focus on keeping breathing etc.

BUT when I was in labour with my daughter 3 years ago, I was absolutely fine. Then bam, fucking agony. I couldn't hold in the moaning and groaning with each wave of pain, so for once in my life I just let the noises out.

Midwife thought I was being dramatic because I was only 3-4cm. Turns out surgery I'd had a couple months before getting pregnant caused all of the scar tissue on my cervix to fuse completely together so I'd been ready to give birth for hours, but my cervix was unable to dilate. They had to get a Dr to insert her hand inside me and use her finger to tear open my cervix.

I’m another one, first baby waters broke went to hospital told to come back in 2 days. Went home started getting pains told to take a bath a 2 paracetamol, was in agony went back into hospital told I was only 1cm dilated and I could stay until morning in the room with the gas and air as I was making too much noise to go to a ward. Wasn’t until I actually started pushing they took any real notice of me, I had dilated to 10cms in less than an hour.

the next 2 we’re planned homebirthd 😄
