@LetitiaLeghorn , that is interesting.

I think he has bags of empathy. Is it just acting? It could be, I just am not sure!

Elaine and her bloody microphone!@ProclivityForPyrotechnics

This is probably the most important role of his career. 😂 So I'm sure he's using all his skills. He might even have got a script writer! The facts that he told are true, though, and he has spoken about it before so we know he's emotional about it, but he's going to do whatever he can to win the jury over. Same way AH tried to win the jury over with her crying.
But ultimately you can't manufacture what makes people warm to you. And he appears to he have a lot if it. And to be fair, even AH says he's a lovely guy... when he's not drunk or stoned.
Have you seen him with the court stenographer? She's always looking at him and smiling and he waves and talks to her.
But does it influence the jury?

Where are people's thoughts - straw poll time! On a scale of 1-5 with:

  1. A is completely making it up, knew the op Ed was disingenuous and should lose to JD on both claims

  2. J clearly held the power and was abusive, her claims are true and she should win both counts

And do you think the jury will agree with you?

I'm a solid 3 and I think the jury will give the win to J on both counts.

It wasn't just the OpEd. She had been a speaker at the Women's March, she had given a talk at a MeToo anniversay event, she had gotten herself on major guest speaker lists (aka Harry Walker Agency) as a victim of domestic violence. The OpEd was a buid up of 2.5 years of her efforts to position herself as this public figure representing domestic violence. Over the same time period she leaked and sold pictures and stories to back up this important work she was doing. I think the attention and accolades as a face of #MeToo had swollen her head and she would have just kept building it and building it up...and I think when the OpEd added the sexual violence component, that is when Johnny had enough. The snowball of lies just kept rolling as she tried to establish herself in that world of public figures.

If she had told the truth from the start - before the TRO took everything in the direction of lies upon lies...she could have had people's sympathy. Johnny clearly wasn't always easy to live with and he dealt with serious addiction issues and past trauma. She could have tried to explain why she would snap and lose it. Unfortunately she went with the nuclear option to try and blow him out of the water by completely twisting reality and making up all these outlandish stories.

I don't know who will win. That gets into legalese and technicalities and jury mood and views. At the end of the day, I think Johnny accomplished what the wanted. Stop the train that was gaining speed at his expense of Amber as the face of IPV and talk about what actually happened and how he was punched and hit and demeaned and raged at over the duration of the marriage.

Weighing up what I've read and watched, my inclination is with JD, even though he is coming across very well or sympathetically. I don't think he is acting; having been familiar with his acting for thirty odd years I think he could wrench tears out of a stone, I mean, he could have turned in an Oscar winning performance for the jury, but he hasn't, perhaps that's why he's more convincing to me. I think 65/35 he will win this.

jeffgoldblum · 25/05/2022 18:34

@TiddyTidTwo
What with this thread, Alison's and the Ukrainian thread I'm not getting anything done!

Midlifemusings · 25/05/2022 18:34

TiddyTidTwo · 25/05/2022 18:19

Ugh I mean she claimed she would even know how to tip off the press, under oath.

I mean, really 😂 why try to block it if she was truthful.

She also claimed under oath she wouldn't know how to photoshop a picture!

I'll leave these here Any survivors out there react like this when reliving events?

I'm a survivor and no way I'd look like that, but wait someone will be along to defend her soon.

TiddyTidTwo · 25/05/2022 18:36

This is the vid. He's describing how AH treated Whitney and him. Yeah, I'm sticking with my spidey senses:

I meant I dont think he is coming across particularly well or sympathetically. I can't even type ffs.

Cantbelieveiusedtowatchthiscrap · 25/05/2022 18:37

I believe JD

Midlifemusings · 25/05/2022 18:37

jeffgoldblum · 25/05/2022 18:32

Those pictures are not good!
I'd like to see pictures of jd sneering now for comparison , are there any?

He did smile and give little snickers and shoulder shrugs or head shakes at various times when Amber was testifying but always with his head down.

TiddyTidTwo · 25/05/2022 18:38

I'll add. When I've been hurt, desperate and going mad in the head, my abuser used to smirk and laugh.

adriftabroad · 25/05/2022 18:38

@ENoeuf I am going with JD winning with jury. 4/5 on both counts. If I have understood your scoring correctly. Basically, you think 3, I think a bit higher now

With JDs lawyers, I think he would still have won. Lower score though.
He just has better (some) witnesses

jeffgoldblum · 25/05/2022 18:39

@Midlifemusings , yes but another poster said he was sneering and such , which would be comparable, laughing is not ( imo)

LetitiaLeghorn · 25/05/2022 18:39

I just don't see how JD can win unless the jury thinks that this was beyond domestic violence in that this was their preferred method of communication. But she has suffered abuse at his hands, I believe, so I think he's got to lose.

I don't think she did the op ed to ruin his life, it was just that she saw an opportunity to aggrandise herself to bump up her career and she really didn't think of the consequences for anyone.

Your posts TiddyTidTwo, I hear you. Also, our spidey senses are very much in sync.

TiddyTidTwo · 25/05/2022 18:42

I don't think JD is going for a win. Like he said in his testimony, he's been carrying this for 6 years and just wanted to bring the truth.

LetitiaLeghorn · 25/05/2022 18:43

I don't think she looks like she's sneering or laughing. If she believes he abused her, she's probably feeling incredulous and that's going to show. Depps strategy of keeping his head down with strategic head raises now looks quite inspired.

jeffgoldblum · 25/05/2022 18:45

Personally to me it looks like she's partially punishing him for leaving and trying to springboard her career at the same time .
Others may see it differently.

TiddyTidTwo · 25/05/2022 18:45

But she's not done this before Leticia. I think she knows she's done in this case, now the mask is slipping. She's not incredulous, imo, she's now goading him as her case is falling apart.

I mean, no point acting anymore is there!

@Midlifemusings you have summed it up all there.

This case is about 3 specific sentences in the OpEd not just about - was there or was there not domestic violence.

Next is the cross; Rotterborn vs JD

This might get a bit awkward. Ah team don't have a lot if time, yet JD speaks very slowly.
Elaine spoke very fast and got cross when Dr Curry as answering too much.

Let's see how Rotterborn deals with thier lack of time.
In my opinion, JD does need to stop with the sarky, chat back comments to Rotterborn. It's funny at first, but it could wear thin.

I think she's definitely punishing him for leaving. Abusers usually do tbf.
