"His name is Richard Marks an entertainment lawyer."

Ah, I read it as Richard Marx a couple of pages back, thought it was the "Hazard" singer, maybe another fellow musician friend. 😅

Boulshired · 24/05/2022 17:07

Another suit, but it’s hard to argue his points. Kathryn Arnold seems to be a gift that keeps giving for Depp.

unctuousunicorns1 · 24/05/2022 17:11

"The hitting one is interesting. Of course his security would say that."

Well yes, that did cross my mind. But you could argue that about anybody's testimony, I suppose. And of course inside someone's home there would only likely to be family, friends or staff, not impartial bystanders or members of the public, so any witnesses will inevitably have a bias.

ENoeuf · 24/05/2022 17:16

Everyone who works in the entertainment industry has a certain vibe. The woman Kathryn Arnold did too, as do the rest of them. I guess to work in entertainment you need to be a bit of a character or have a certain oddity to you.

Not the same vibe. I've met lots of 'characters' I just don't like the wheeler dealer vibe.

There's a lot of distance being put between the emotional testimony and this dry stuff. Like a towel soaking it all up.

Is anyone else annoyed they keep saying the "Daily Mail". Huge publicity for them.

Admittedly I have a huge, massive bias against them.

ENoeuf · 24/05/2022 17:31

It's funny . No 'daily fail' mis speak so far.
I really think A team have done her a disservice. I think maybe money to pay for experts is a factor, maybe connections and who would be willing to do it bearing in mind the toxic publicity but also - why haven't they sat her next to the young female on the team , throw a counter to the 'we aren't friends anymore' stuff .She looks isolated and lonely - if that's the tactic I think it's backfired.

I also don't love the optics of J team calling numerous men to slate yesterdays woman. I feel like a lot of this is about what it looks like.

OP posts:
Boulshired · 24/05/2022 17:32

what is so unfair is that it’s easy to see the amount of money you have, the better and more experienced the expert witness. No criticism of the expert witnesses, just that Depps (even though there men in suits) are generally a different level.

ENoeuf · 24/05/2022 17:34

Yes I think I've only just realised that. Just thinking about why A team so poor recently.

Can anyone help me , nicks Wallis who tweeted live from the UK trial is there on Virginia.

He tweeted something like " wow that was the most extraordinary testimony.." but I could not see anything else or work out who it was about.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 24/05/2022 17:35

Bouls yes the oj trial showed this

ENoeuf · 24/05/2022 17:37

WB aren't an expert witness though. Out of all of them, they're the ones in the actual contract with AH and they categorically said the opposite to AH under oath.

They are calling the same witnesses who testified earlier - it isn't that they went out to find men to have a certain look in rebuttal. They are speaking to the male doctor expert witness, the male data technician expert witness and the female entertainment expert so far. Most of Amber's witnesses were also older white men. I think that is the pool that they are both pulling from.

Elon Musk was paying for her lawyers back in the day, not sure if or when he ended that support.

Money matters but she got $7 million in the divorce settlement, plus we heard she made millions from her own career, and part of the Depp settlement was also paying off her $7.2 million share of debts. And Musk paid for her lawyers for the first couple years at least / UK trial. So she shouldn't be bankrupt or bottom of the barrel. Johnny has more money but she should have enough to call good experts - they are $600-$800 an hour. In the grand scheme of the costs of the case, the experts are a tiny fraction. Some of Johnny's experts haven't been exceptional either. I think some of it is a bit hit and miss.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 24/05/2022 17:43

Fabulous, thank you!

Midlifemusings · 24/05/2022 17:45

I read somewhere and don't know if it is true but that when Amber hired this team, it was for Elaine's expertise in out of court settlements. Apparently she has settled many big cases without going to court but isn't all that experienced in large trials themselves. If that is true, it may explain why this team was hired and why they have struggled a bit in a case of this magnitute.

They also just repeated almost the exact same details in direct and in cross. Few have done this. There was no bias, just basic details and they stuck to the facts.

I have to say, I really respect this judge. She stays very calm and patient and neutral. She is very professional and runs the courtroom especially given the circus of the case without any signs of caring that these are celebrities.

I love this sort of information. I have a maths background and statistics and data are my thing.

I'm loving it

I feel me and this expert witness should be friends.

He was also really good at explaining things in a digestible manner, both verbally and with his diagrams. Everything we do online is being tracked probably by someone!

ENoeuf · 24/05/2022 17:50

I get that they are the same it's just if I was on the jury by now I'd be also taking in the landscape and cast not just what was said. It just jarred. Equally I think they've made A look really aloof and unlikeable tbh. I didn't like J sniggering but that's been toned down and they've made him look not like a wife beater - always having a young woman next to him etc.

Interesting if Elaine is good for settling. Although the global humiliation text that has come to light would have been useful in advance.

Yes! Someone was evicted yesterday for shouting that her child was Jonnys baby and they were soul mates 😲😂

Someone yelled that in the courtroom? How embarrassing. Some of these people though that hang out at the courtroom for weeks are not your average people.

Yes, not sure I could explain it that well 😁

I'm just wondering if a lot of celebs, or even film makers now use twitter and other social media to evaluate reviews of thier work.
In the dark ages, the reviews in newspapers from film critics was the be all and end all of if a celeb or film was good (or bad)
But now, I suppose, all they need to do it use twitter to see directly what people think.
