I very much suspect that for him, it was, his good name. His reputation. She painted him as a wife-beater and someone who raped her with a bottle of vodka? Never a fucking police report. Nothing. No evidence whatsoever of him being violent or abusive. Yes, there are recordings of him trying to defend himself under a barrage of fucking belittling insults about his career, his age, his being fat etc.
I know that it's hard to understand that women can abuse. But they fucking can. I'm a victim of my mother. Heinous abuse. Horrific, horrible, continuous violence and abuse.

She has set women back by decades. The recordings were unequivocal! His injuries! You'd want to be a twit to not see that she was lying? That she could destroy his reputation, his career, and very possibly, his relationship with his children, is horrible. And I strongly suspect that the latter is why he pursued this case. He never once asked his children to testify.

Heard only won one count of the 3 statements made by Depp’s previous lawyer, Waldman. In the two counts she lost Waldman referred to it being a hoax too. It is said the decision was made in her favour for Waldman’s second statement as he said Heard and her friends roughed up the penthouse after the first police left then called the police again. The police testified that no one rang them to go out again but for some reason a second set of police officers called a few hours later. They didn’t testify to seeing any damage in the penthouse either so no proof of this one incident.

Further to my comment above, attached are the 3 statements Waldman made. The jury found for Amber Heard statement 2, but not the other 2.

There was a second 911 call made. There is a recording of the call.

In statement 2 waldman includes her lawyer and publicist being involved in the staging / hoax - that really didn't have evidence - so defamation.
