Yes I know she's interviewing Boris but for fuck's sake, let him get a word in edgeways, even worse when Adil Ray is on as well.

She's so rude

But Johnson knows what is it like to struggle. the price of chicken and chicken breasts!

That was a vey odd thing to say.

Loved how he had to clarify. Chicken wasn't enough......it had to specifically be chicken breast!! I can't figure out whether it was just his mind drifting, an opportunity to say breast (like a giggly schoolboy), a time filler, a distraction technique or something else.

I don’t think anyone is telling Elsie to move . And the comment about the bus pass was not him saying she should use the pass to travel around . He did not mean that.

Boris was listening about an elderly woman in a dreadful situation, not eating properly and travelling on buses all day to save heating. The fact he used that opportunity to tell us how great he was introducing the bus passes in the first place, really does show what sort of man he is.

And the fact that his supporters are on here going, 'oh well, she should just downsize' really does show what sort of party the Conservatives are.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 03/05/2022 14:16

The weirdest thing about this interview is all the people calling her rude, critising her interview technique, objecting to him not being allowed to answer how he liked etc while openly admitting they haven't watched it. Absolutely bizarre.

carefullycourageous · 03/05/2022 14:17

My most burning question is why does he wear his tie so long?

Imabouttoexplode · 03/05/2022 14:17

Blossomtoes · 03/05/2022 12:16

No, he made himself look out of touch and stupid.

Did he fuck. Not knowing who 'Lorraine' is is hardly an indication of not having your finger on the pulse.

ClaudineClare · 03/05/2022 14:18

Plus she is in a council flat, so she can't sell up and downsize anyway.

PeachesToday · 03/05/2022 14:19

She's got all the major headlines. IMO, not rude... just doing her job.

I know who Lorraine is and I haven't lived in the UK for 20 years.

He is very short

I disagree - that comment was a very bad look. BJ was being interviewed on ITV. Lorraine is one of the most famous people on the channel. It made him look out of touch. Currently he is being accused of being out of touch about serious economic issues. It made him look like a twat.

carefullycourageous · 03/05/2022 14:23

hamstersarse · 03/05/2022 14:21

He is very short

He could easily get a party donor to buy him some bespoke shorter ties. He must be really very short to wear it so noticeably long.

I want answers.

hamstersarse · 03/05/2022 14:24

No one intentionally watched Lorraine

I think it was a win not to know who Lorraine is - her programme is painful drivel

Imagine the outrage if he said he did watch Lorraine - "Shouldn't he be working at that time....bla bla"

Basically whatever he says is wrong for some people. That's it.

Exactly! An OAP who is eating only one meal a day and riding the bus to save money is being questioned for having the temerity to live in a band F property that's not even hers! People should be ashamed.

Roussette · 03/05/2022 13:02

What nonsense. The consensus of opinion is... she did a good interview. Like it or not.
And as for Starmer, he regularly shows up BJ for what he is... a provaricator and a blusterer who makes it up as he goes along

Own goal is how I'd describe this morning's BJ interview

Speak for yourself. That is absolutely NOT the consensus of opinion. There's plenty of people on here saying she didn't do well.

"Britain Trump" - right down to the dangling tie

He didn’t have to voluntarily show woeful ignorance of current culture. I’ve never watched Lorraine but I know who she is. He could - controversial, I know - just have kept his mouth shut.

Of course she's paid more than he is. She does a better job.

By that rule I would imagine 99.9% of the country should be earning more than Johnson

dottiedodah · 03/05/2022 14:34

I think the interview was one sided.Susanna was not letting the PM speak .She was after his throat! I am no fan of BJ but he needs to come back with an answer surely."Elsie" if she exists lives in a band f house yet cant afford her energy bills!

She lives in a council flat, not some rambli g country house.

AtwilightRebellion · 03/05/2022 14:36

Absolute rot. She wasn't rude. She did a good job at not allowing him to control the interview with his usual world beating vaccine rollout, fastest growing economy in G7 BS narrative.

Allowed, he would have blustered on saying nothing.

She handled the interview very well. Perhaps her legs should take the credit! 🙄

TooBigForMyBoots · 03/05/2022 14:41

It certainly does.

wow! the Tories are out in force! The man NEVER gives a straight answer anyway or just lies so it makes no difference if he replies or not.

GET THE TORIES OUT

I am no fan of BJ

Yet you constantly defend him and his corrupt government … 🤷‍♀️

PeekAtYou · 03/05/2022 14:45

I didn't watch the interview.

Too many interviews with politicians allow them to avoid answering questions and lie because of a lack of time.

BJ can not stay on topic. He needs prompting to stay with the question and needs correcting if he tells lies like cutting NI as someone mentioned above.

When Susanna worked with Piers, she was often seen as the awkward person listening to him do the interview. Did she have a similar interview style to him when he had days off? Now that he's gone, this is probably her chance to increase her earnings and name. Maybe this is a tactic that is good for her career? She doesn't have to be polite and docile just because she's a woman. Opinionated celebs are the ones who get offered the radio shows, newspaper columns and talk shows. Maybe that's where her career ambition lies? You can dislike that kind of presenter but some people like a more combative style which they continue on social media later.

Copying BBC Breakfast and allowing politicians to dictate the interview is as much a waste of time as listening to the interviewer argue with their subject. If Johnson had a point to make he could have easily used other means to broadcast his message.

Tbh I think that part of the reason that he agreed to this interview was because of the "hiding in the fridge" jokes. I can imagine in an immature workplace like the HoC, people take the piss out of that kind of thing and appearing on GMB means he's bought more time until he appears again. He can't claim to champion free speech and abhor cancel culture and avoid difficult interviews indefinitely.
