To choose an Irish name for their dog... in light of Britain's history with Ireland.

YABU- get over it, it's a dog
YANBU- it is tone deaf

OP posts:

Ridiculous, how do you know they named it.If it's a pedigree dog it possibly has a lengthy title and God forbid they may not all be English names.

SalsaLove · 02/05/2022 23:18

I don’t like the name but how on Earth is it insensitive?

LampLighter414 · 02/05/2022 23:19

The taxpayer subsidising their ability to have a dog is unreasonable.

Get rid of the lot of them. Scroungers.

Squiff70 · 02/05/2022 23:21

It's a MN Finest 'light the blue touch paper and retire' thread and 162 people have bitten so far 😂

Surely we should really be up in arms because they chose an anagram of a sex act? They might as well have called it Bob Jowl.

Dirty fuckers.

🤣🤣🤣

Fishwishy · 02/05/2022 23:28

I see the permanently offended are looking for another reason to feel offended. Seriously get over it.

Themilkyway97 · 02/05/2022 23:30

OP, you are being ridiculous. It's just a name and it's a dog. One of the kids probably named it. It's a pretty name

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/05/2022 23:40

Let the next pup be called Frothmeister and it’ll save you posting.

I'm Irish and my name is Orla

I'm ok with it 😊

BDeyes · 02/05/2022 23:53

Oh ffs who cares, perhaps they just liked the name and never gave a thought to its origin. Perhaps the children chose the name. some people really do over think things and would've found criticism in whatever name they'd have chosen.

ladydimitrescu · 02/05/2022 23:56

They could have called it any name and someone would have something to say about it.
It's not like they've called it wanker ffs.

StillMedusa · 03/05/2022 00:00

My dog is called Orla... :D

Dimples13 · 03/05/2022 00:50

It's doesn't matter what they call it, you can guarantee someone will find fault.

We're living in a woke world..........

We really are not…

JetTail · 03/05/2022 00:55

Depends on how they spell it. 😏

I've met multiple Irish Orfhlaiths. It's like a competition to see who can fit the most silent letters in. Orthbhlaithdh will be next.

ManateeFair · 03/05/2022 15:56

Prince William is Baron of Carrickfergus. Pretty sure all the other royals hold a Northern Irish title too.

So if you don’t want the royals to mention anything related to Ireland, the name of his dog is the least of your worries.

zingally · 03/05/2022 16:43

Some people really do have waaaaay too much time on their hands, and not enough in their heads, if they are actually thinking about this!

ScreamingMeMe · 03/05/2022 16:45

Wtf! NO.

Tillycat35 · 03/05/2022 17:43

Is the dog an Irish Wolfhound ?🤣🤣

Katherine9 · 03/05/2022 17:44

Honestly, you need to find something else to worry about.

cuparfull · 03/05/2022 17:54

Do get a f....ing grip!

Longleggedgiraffe · 03/05/2022 17:57

Seriously? Yes,YABU. Given the current world problems, why are you trying to politicse a trivial thing like naming a dog?

Silverjellybean71 · 03/05/2022 18:01

Is the dog a boy dog? Seriously, OP I hope you’re doing this on works time 😂
