To think Will & Kate calling their dog Orla is insensitive at best

To choose an Irish name for their dog... in light of Britain's history with Ireland.

YABU- get over it, it's a dog
YANBU- it is tone deaf

There really is nothing you can do these days without someone finding offence in it. It's all so tedious 🙄

Yep, it's one big yawn fest...

beechie12 · 02/05/2022 21:37

I'm Irish and I agree with OP. They could have called their daughter Orla and the dog Charlotte.

LondonQueen · 02/05/2022 22:11

FrancescaContini · 02/05/2022 22:13

Made me laugh out loud - thank you 😂

Fairislefandango · 02/05/2022 22:13

One of the most ridiculous OPs I've seen on here, and that's saying something.

ozymandiusking · 02/05/2022 22:28

You are being utterly ridiculous.
It's a dog!

EmeraldShamrock1 · 02/05/2022 22:28

SillySallySassySausage · 02/05/2022 22:30

LadyEloise10 · 02/05/2022 22:43

I don't know any Orlas who spell it with a fáda over the O.
Is urla not vomit in Irish ?

I was a bit surprised they called it an Irish name tbh.
Our dog has an Irish girl's name. We live in Ireland.

RoisinD · 02/05/2022 22:45

Intriguing how many agree that Orla is a suitable name. For those who are Irish do you all really think 'Vomit' is ok? This has been stated a few times but ignored something that happens too often when it comes to Gaeilge, spelling and pronunciation. Órla is the correct spelling. 'Is fearr Gaeilge bristle, ná Béarla clíste'

ThinWomansBrain · 02/05/2022 22:46

no voting option for who gives a toss
is OP from daily fail?

userxx · 02/05/2022 22:47

My parents dog is called Dave, he's Irish.

Rosebel · 02/05/2022 22:48

I'm half Irish and it doesn't bother me at all. They wouldn't be able to name the dog anything following your logic.

ThinWomansBrain · 02/05/2022 22:50

Maybe the breeder likes using 4 letter names for their litters?

could have been worse then😂

I'm Irish and have known umpteen Orlas, Orlaiths and an Orlagh or two over the years. I can think of maaaaybe one who used a fada. I'd never even heard Orla=vomit until a few months ago on here, and you can bet if I'd heard it as a kid my poor cousin would've been tortured.

Also, loving the typo in this post Grin
