What is yours? And yes I know it's not an AIBU but posting for traffic is a crime I like committing.
Personally, I can't decide. Happy Valley was bloody brilliant and I loved Broadchurch, Shetland. I also love the more lighthearted Father Brown, Grantchester and Jonathan Creek. Scott and Bailey was binge watched with great joy.

Can you pick a favourite? Just one?

Morse but also...I know this is dumb but the one with the two male detectives 😂😂😂

Early 2000s maybe? The title was their names but I can't for the life of me think of it... one slightly Older than the other? I need to go google

Dalziel and Pascoe?

LunaMay · 23/04/2022 20:59

Yes! Thank you, that was annoying me Grin

I have a very soft spot for The Sweeney. Watched a lot of those early in lockdown.

Taggart for me. Loved them all and would love it to come back.
Endeavour, Lewis & Morse.
Vera
Rebus
Cracker

Taggart is often on cable, I can't believe how old it is! Rebus was brilliant once Ken Stott took on the role.
Dalziel and Pascoe
The Bridge, and most of the Scandi noir programmes.

Life on Mars
Unforgotten

i like Lewis as I love Kevin Whately but cannot watch it now because of the monumental arse Lawrence Fox
i also loved Morse back in the day but watched it again recently and I don’t think it’s aged well. Morse is quite unpleasant and appallingly sexist. The way he assumes every woman is desperate to go out with him.

I think a lot of the 80s and 90s TV programmes wouldn't come out of a forensic examination regarding attitudes these days but they're still very enjoyable to watch.

PD James, Adam Dalgleish programmes, I loved Roy Marsden's portrayal.

TheKeatingFive · 23/04/2022 21:23

Line of Duty, series 2&3 (Lindsay Denton forever)

Unforgotten was also wonderful, until the brutal end of the last series. Great premise and the central pairing were perfection.

TheKeatingFive · 23/04/2022 21:24

I enjoyed Marcella, despite it stretching the boundaries of credibility

I always thought Lewis was silly nut watchable. The body count was ridic.

But like you can't watch any of it since Fox decided to come out as Mr Ukip.

Grin at Morse assuming every attractive middle aged, middle class woman would be putty in his hands.

PAFMO · 23/04/2022 21:29

Loved Dalziel and Pascoe- the books are excellent. Much more detailed and involved than the series.

I rewatched Cracker a while back and, tbh, wished I hadn't. They actually seemed fairly run of the mill psycho-nutter-profiling-drunk-loser-genius-crimesolver etc. So many followed it I think. And the Cracker character really was an abusive twat to his wife and son. Brilliant acting and writing obviously.

I'm rewatching Spooks. Does that count?

Joystir59 · 23/04/2022 21:30

No Offence was fantastic

Afrodizzyak · 23/04/2022 21:31

Cracker

Wallander

The Bridge

PAFMO · 23/04/2022 21:32

I'm chuckling now remembering a phase (probably late 90s) when Kevin Whately was in everything but always had sex at some point. Me and my Mum would be going "nooooo, not Lewis's bottom again". Started to believe he was insisting on having it written into his contracts that he took his pants off. And it seemed so wrong with that dopey comfy face of his .

Cleaning up.
It's about two cleaners who work for an agency where they do the cleaning for a firm of investment bankers.

They bug the office and use the information to invest in shares. Things turn out to be more dangerous than they had thought.

Iamthewombat · 23/04/2022 21:34

Stuff like that is always better with female leads. It just is.

Scott and Bailey is my favourite too. Never bettered.

I also love No Offence, Lindsay Denton era Line of Duty and Prime Suspect before it went crap. I can’t be bothered with Vera. It’s just Midsomer Murders in the north east. You need a bit of grit.

Notdoingthis · 23/04/2022 21:34

There is a new series of Unforgotten with a new female lead coming.

QuebecBagnet · 23/04/2022 21:34

She’ll have to be bloody amazing. Nicola Walker is a very hard act to follow.
