What is yours? And yes I know it's not an AIBU but posting for traffic is a crime I like committing.
Personally, I can't decide. Happy Valley was bloody brilliant and I loved Broadchurch, Shetland. I also love the more lighthearted Father Brown, Grantchester and Jonathan Creek. Scott and Bailey was binge watched with great joy.

Can you pick a favourite? Just one?

Line of Duty
Unforgotten
Happy Valley S1
Broadchurch
Vera and Shetland for cosiness
Waking the Dead
Silent Witness

Older ones
Prime Suspect
Cracker
Trial and Retribution (my fave but also the darkest!)
Wire in the Blood

Chouradanilova · 23/04/2022 20:22

Taggart

AnneShirleysNewDress · 23/04/2022 20:25

Unforgotten. Nicola Walker is amazing.

PAFMO · 23/04/2022 20:29

Mother of God!

LoD, Happy Valley, Broadchurch, Morse, Early Prime Suspect, Cracker, so so many really.

Oddly, my stand out episode is a Silent Witness with a school shooting. The tension was exhausting.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 23/04/2022 20:31

I liked Cracker at the time but suspect I might find it too dark now.

mothertrucking · 23/04/2022 20:32

Happy Valley was so good. But I think line of duty is my absolute favourite

idontknowdoi · 23/04/2022 20:34

I like most of the ones mentioned, and I really enjoyed Unforgotten and LoD during lockdown, but I also really like the more simple ones that I at least have a snowballs chance of guessing whodunnit

newnamethanks · 23/04/2022 20:38

Nothing to argue with here. Apparently Series 3 of Happy Valley is being made. Hurrah. Can't pick a favourite. Although I whinge at a disappointing drama we've had some excellent productions over the last few years. Hurrah for Nicola Walker, although, now she's been allowed to be glammed up and have some nice clothes in the lawyer thing (don't like it. She looks great though) she may want to give up the jeans and scowls. Hope not.

SecretSurferGal · 23/04/2022 20:39

I loved Broadchurch.

Have you seen White House Farm?

Longdistance · 23/04/2022 20:39

In this house we will sit and watch:
Vera
Endeavour
Death in Paradises

idontknowdoi · 23/04/2022 20:40

I'm sure I read that it's already been decided there won't be another series of Unforgotten.

Has there really only been two series of Happy Valley? I thought there had been a few and I'd just not seen them all. Jeez.

AlternativelyWired · 23/04/2022 20:42

I realised I forgot Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour! Those always go without saying for me though. I'm going to go back and read all the replies now if ds goes to sleep and gives me some peace.

I love Taggart. The old ones are my guilty pleasure

devildeepbluesea · 23/04/2022 20:45

Love most of these. Currently rewatching Prime Suspect. Made in the 90s, by Christ it has dated!

LoD is my contemporary favourite, the BBC 1980s adaptations of Miss Marple (withJoan Hickson) is my vintage fave.

AlternativelyWired · 23/04/2022 20:46

And Vera. I wasn't keen when I watched the first episode but it became like crack. Not that I'd know.

Derrymum123 · 23/04/2022 20:48

Taggart for me. Loved them all and would love it to come back.
Endeavour, Lewis & Morse.
Vera
Rebus
Cracker

SecretSurferGal · 23/04/2022 20:39

I loved Broadchurch.

Have you seen White House Farm?

I really liked White House Farm even though I don't usually enjoy dramas based on true crimes. Freddie Fox was great as Jeremy Bamber.

FuzzyPuffling · 23/04/2022 20:50

Shakespeare and Hathaway.

Pennina · 23/04/2022 20:51

Spiral! Very gritty French series - a binge worthy 8 seasons. On BBC iplayer.

Also The Fall.

Doh sorry just seen you said "British" (it's still good though!)

AlternativelyWired · 23/04/2022 20:52

George Gently too. I was so upset at the end of the last series.
Happy Valley had me very conscious of what amazing actors we have here.
I stopped watched Deadwater Fell as it was a bit too close to home in some ways.
I enjoyed The Loch.

Morse but also...I know this is dumb but the one with the two male detectives 😂😂😂

Early 2000s maybe? The title was their names but I can't for the life of me think of it... one slightly Older than the other? I need to go google

AlternativelyWired · 23/04/2022 20:55

I don't think I've really watched Miss Marple since I was little and it was weekend evening viewing in the summer. I might watch them all again. Fond memories of watching with my mum and dad in the 80s.

OP posts:
DuesToTheDirt · 23/04/2022 20:55

Unforgotten
Happy Valley
River

Candleabra · 23/04/2022 20:57

Life on Mars
Unforgotten

i like Lewis as I love Kevin Whately but cannot watch it now because of the monumental arse Lawrence Fox
i also loved Morse back in the day but watched it again recently and I don’t think it’s aged well. Morse is quite unpleasant and appallingly sexist. The way he assumes every woman is desperate to go out with him.
