Just when you think this government can't get any worse - now they are going to send asylum seekers to Rwanda

I didn't vote for this shower. The problem with people arriving (if they make it) in small boats needs addressing but AIBU that sending them on a one way trip to Rwanda isn't the answer?

How bizarre then, that everyone wants to come here......

Lol. How bizarre you believe everyone wants to go to the UK.

Its a shithole full of shithole racists who are proud to be racist.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/04/2022 10:09

It'll only last until the next tranche of fines are issued ...

Exactly - and as for waiting for the full plan to be released, forget it

IMO it's a distraction headline and nothing more

AmbushedByCake · 14/04/2022 10:10

I read the article three times to see if it was for real. I'm impressed by how the government manages to leave me speechless with disgust so often, you'd think at some point I'd become immune to their awfulness but they keep on lowering the bar.

Haffiana · 14/04/2022 10:11

Racist Brexit voters will be creaming themselves with joy about this.

How To Be A Racist in plain sight and get away with it. Vote Tory.

Adhdparent123 · 14/04/2022 10:12

They do not come back if they are genuine. According to Radio 4 this morning if the asylum application is accepted they are given leave to live in Rwanda. This is a one way ticket to a country with human rights issues.
75% of those claiming asylum at the moment have their claims accepted, so 3 out of every 4 are genuine refugees fleeing persecution or war/terrorism. Of the other 25% the vast majority will be economic migrants NOT criminals.
The plan is disgraceful.

longwayoff · 14/04/2022 10:15

The only thing missing from this policy stolen from 1930s Germany is somebody sporting a small mustache.

kikisparks · 14/04/2022 10:16

It’s disgusting, when you think this government can’t sink any lower. How are the individuals sent to Rwanda going to access their lawyers? Asylum seekers are often very vulnerable, can be victims of torture, rape, and have serious trauma. This sounds hideously expensive and likely to lead to huge human rights abuses. I’m certain it will be legally challenged.

Unphased · 14/04/2022 10:17

What a good idea, nobody condemns the French for refusing to have them back, it’s a step up from have snipers taking out the boats in French water, we haven’t enough houses for U.K. citizens and it’s costing over 3 million a day for hotels etc, if the people are real refugees, they will have somewhere warm and safe while their applications are being processed, rising prices people starting to struggle in this country now,

If you're going to troll at least make it a bit subtle.
daimbarsatemydogsbone · 14/04/2022 10:21

The vulnerable would hopefully come back within a week or two safe with visas, places to live and benefits so they can start a new life here!

🤣🤣🤣🤣

If you believe that, send me your details, I have a Nigerian prince who is trying to release his late father's funds who needs to talk to you.

What's the point in sending the boats back to France? They will only keep trying.

Where is your £3 million a day figure from?

@lemongreentea

Tory votes will be delighted.

The UK is a cesspit of racist arseholes.

And sadly, the (at the time of writing!) Home Scretary appears to be one of them. Awful, awful person
CloudPop · 14/04/2022 10:27

@SleeplessInEngland

Tenner says the tories will get so desperate they'll try introducting the death penalty before the next election. Patel did have a consultation on it.
Agreed. Will probably hold a referendum.

Posted this on the thread in chat:

I'm not sure. It sounds heartless and nasty.

But what is in place at the moment doesn't deserve to be called an asylum system, it's a survival of the fittest scramble to make it to the UK that favours the young, fit and those with enough money to pay the people smugglers. IMO a system should be set up to identify the most vulnerable in countries close to the country they are fleeing from and bring them to the UK. I don't think the Tories will do that though.

I completely understand people wanting to help asylum seekers, I do too. But how can anyone look at the system we currently have and say "yeah these people are the most needy."

Crispynoodle · 14/04/2022 10:36

@GhostofMaudFlanders

But 'Boris' said something good about women, once, despite treating wonen like shit all his life, so Mumsnet will be voting Tory no matter what over atrocities they commit..
This 🤦🏼‍♀️

'Not trolling, seriously what right do these people think they can just invade our country and we have to house them, feed them etc, this country has enough people struggling'

And Lord knows government is doing so much to help those people Hmm

Tell me, how is sticking asylum seekers into what is essentially a concentration camp based in a country with one of the worst records on human rights abuses going to help people in Britain who are struggling? Be as specific as possible.

longwayoff · 14/04/2022 10:47

Afghan refugees eh? Someone remind me how they came to be in that situation. If only every one of them had a dog, Bozo might have arranged a special flight out of their country straight to Brize Norton like the one arranged for Pen Farthing and his menagerie.

Unphased · 14/04/2022 10:48

Hospedia
Just for a start, use all of the yearly payments on so called Asylum seekers, to help,
You could always give your house, money etc to them to help out, No I thought not

Hospedia · 14/04/2022 10:49

Hitler and the Nazi's original plan for "the Jewish problem" was to create a hostile environment to encourage them to emigrate out of Germany. When that didn't work as well as they hoped, they drew up plans to relocate the Jewish people to encampment sites on Africa. No, really. And when that proved to be unpopular and expensive, they decided on more localised camps.

Nice to see that in Tory Britain 2022 they're borrowing policy directly from 1930s and 40s Germany

"invade"
Dweetfidilove · 14/04/2022 10:51

I wonder how/where these immigrants will be 'housed' in Rwanda while their applications are processed?

Of course it won't be as bad as the Australian system though. Britain is not as bad as...

I despair at the repeated cruelty of this government.

Hospedia · 14/04/2022 10:53

Just for a start, use all of the yearly payments on so called Asylum seekers, to help,

You really think the government would spend that money on British people? Mate, Boris Johnson used to burn money in front of homeless people for fun. He wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire but he would find a way to fucking charge you a levy for the heat generated.

You could always give your house, money etc to them to help out, No I thought not

I donate to various charities, I give my time and skills to refugee projects as well as domestic charity projects, I do volunteer work. Not sure how giving up my house would help, last I checked it wasn't a requirement for people to give up their homes in order to allow asylum seekers to have it?

Unphased · 14/04/2022 10:55

Why don’t all you people that want these economic migrants, house them, feed and dress them, give them spending money etc out of your own incomes, not the tax payers?
