I recently went to see a show at the theatre, predominantly to see a particular person. Although it was a production I wanted to see too.
I dont want to say what, as it's a bit outing.
Anyway I went with a friend and we loved it.
However, I cant stop thinking about this celeb since.
The show was wonderful and I want to go back.
I could go this weekend as i am off work.D Do I sound like a stalker??
And who can I go with? I cant ask same friend! I dont really have another person to ask.
I could go by myself but would that be strange?
I feel like I need to get it out if my system.
Sorry if I sound nutsBlush

@Sidisawetlettuce

Who is it you have a crush on? Just tell us! I had a major thing for Darius after he wason Pop Idol and travelled all over the place to lust over him. I met him a few times at the stage door. Recently I have had a huge thing for Johannes from Strictly and went to a Meet and Greet. He was utterly gorgeous! I was on my own and no doubt looked like a middle aged desperado but seriously, who gives a shit? Just go and have a perve.

"Middle-aged desperado" GrinGrin

It could be a trap. You could be a serial killer who uses Mumsnet to trap unsuspecting middle aged desperados Shock

mumofEandE · 14/04/2022 14:13

When I took DD to see Harry Potter the woman in the queue in front of us greeted the security bag searchers like old friends - turned out she had been to see the show 120 times!

How do I know if its allowed???!!!!(stage door) I wish I'd just given more thought to my original visit. Done stage door then and wrapped it all up!!
I'm not sure, the shows social media or website might say? Or just go to the show and chance that they're doing the stage door.

I hope you do go and get to meet them!

downtonupton · 14/04/2022 14:35

last time I went to the theatre, Jason Donovan Wink was in the audience. He was really friendly, nice and normal and if it is him in Joseph, I am sure you will not be the only one in the audience who has gone to see him. Nor would it be weird to go to stage door and again, you wont be the only one. go for it... have fun... and even if it isn't Jason you're talking about - why are you worried what others think if it will make you happy and wont hurt anyone?

watcherintherye · 14/04/2022 14:38

No harm in wandering round to the stage door (keep it nonchalant) and if there’s no-one else there, keep on walking. If there’s a group of others, you can hang around, as if to see what all the fuss is about. If your celeb comes out, whatever you do, don’t throw yourself at him!

7eleven · 14/04/2022 14:39

If you do go the the stage door, act cool. Whatever you do, don’t try and touch his bum Grin

CatatonicLadybug · 14/04/2022 14:43

Re: whether that theatre allows people at the stage door - you can ask front of house staff or you can go to the stage door and see if there is security there to tell people to go away. Many west end theatres aren’t allowing it right now since covering a covid absence is a right pain in the neck, even though they are more prepared for it now than when theatres first reopened.

Different actors have different opinions on whether stage door meets are fun/normal/weird/terrifying. Like how some actors don’t do improv and some don’t do live audiences and only appear in film etc - takes all personality types plus everybody has their own history of whether they’ve had someone do something creepy! Those who hate meeting someone at the stage door either leg it before the theatre is empty or wait a really long time, so just don’t hang about waiting for an hour or anything. (I had to pick up my son at the stage door on a night last week where three ladies said they would wait two hours and yeah nope, that’s too much.)

But for real no biggie to see a show twice. For any long running show or show with a big name, there will be a crowd of regulars who have been dozens of times. You’re all good there.

cloudylemonade13 · 14/04/2022 14:51

Just go and see it again and enjoy it, you'll regret it otherwise. Nothing too weird about being a stage-door Johnny, it's what fans do - say you enjoyed the show and get an autograph/photo, just don't fling yourself at him or follow him home after!!

Wtaf? Jason was in the audience. What did you go to see? I'd be too distracted to watch the show!

Better keep the alcohol to a minimum then.Blush I dont actually know where the stage door is. So might make me unable to casually stroll round!!!

Ok I'm geared up to do it. Just wish I didn't have to go alone as i like the theatre to be a proper night out. Dressed up pre drinks etc.not the same on my own. And dressing up too much makes me look like I'm out on the pull .

What's a reasonable time to wait? I havent done this shit for years And what if the rest of the cast come out (once I've found the stage door)and not the person in want to see!! Risk I guess!!

Definitely go on your own, I love going to shows on my own especially if I have a crush on who I'm going to see.

CircusBaby · 14/04/2022 15:05

Oh and I ALWAYS wait at the stage door. It's a tradition when I've been to a show. I met one of my crushes in February at the stage door and he was just as gorgeous and lovely as I imagined
