Inspired by another thread but mainly by my own experiences today.
In February it was 20p to use the public loos at our favourite seaside town. Today it has doubled to 40p! There are now contactless points incase you don't have any cash. 40p to pee!
Mr Kipling cherry Bakewells have jumped to £1.90 in Asda and I'm sure they used to be £1.40 or sometimes even £1 and that was only a few weeks back. Cake isn't essential I know, but peeing is. Things have gone up generally but the odd pence here and there isn't always noticed but these are huge jumps.

Pringles at £3 a tube - I might never have a Pringles again Sad
This. Whereas Pringles and many of the things I buy are complete 1st world luxuries, and I know that !! they have all gone up massively, Hi Juice squash and soft drinks are a massive one, and not just because of the sugar tax - almost 100% increase. House fuel, yes, doubled if not more, car fuel, at least 50%. What has come down this week is veg, every supermarket is offering 20p veg. I suspect it will be short term, and people can (if they are able, willing and have the time) make something of it, but it takes some skill to do. XX

Dh went to fill our car tonight for a long drive and it wouldn’t let him go over £99 but that didn’t fill the car! It’s a 7 seater but never gone over £75 before.

Is that pay at the pump, where it pre-authorises it? I remember, not all that long ago, when they set the pre-auth amount at £99 - obviously thinking that would be way more than any car or van would need to fill up. How quickly that has gone out of date.

Yes, thank you, @NeedAHoliday2021 - I couldn't remember what it was. I knew it was a new outbreak of something we'd heard before!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 14/04/2022 00:58

I notice that Asda hasn't been quite as forthcoming in trumpeting their new 'roll forward' prices as they normally do with the (now fewer in number) roll backs....

Babyroobs · 14/04/2022 01:02

We go walking in some local woods at the weekends. A couple of years ago it used to be free, then went up to £1 which was fine. A few months ago it went up to £2 and then last week dh turned up with the dogs and could not park as it had gone up to £3.

angelsandinsects · 14/04/2022 01:31

We've had a weekly grocery delivery from Sainsburys for years. About 6 or 7 weeks ago, I started asking the delivery person for the final tray as

Patchbatch · 14/04/2022 01:39

Baby formula! I was paying £8.50 a tub it's now £9.75. That's cow and gate... for the first 8 weeks she was on aptamil profutura which was £14 a tub and is now £16!

This makes me really sad, there should be caps or something on rises of formula.

Nat6999 · 14/04/2022 02:24

My fortnightly food shop has gone up £35. My dual fuel gas & electric is going up £717 a year, my mobile phone contracts (mine & ds) are going up 4%. I'm disabled, on benefits & an occupational pension, I don't know how I will manage.

OffRoadFozzyBear · 14/04/2022 02:40

I’m in the US so our prices are different to start with.

Milk - half gallon was $3.89, now $4.59
Bread - $4.99 to $5.99
Petrol - $3.29 to $4.89 a gallon
1lb minced beef - $6.99 to $8.99
Starbucks coffee - $4.75 to $5.75
Jar of instant coffee - $8.99 to $11.99
Jam - $4.99 to $5.99
Meal at a local steakhouse - $40 to $60
Bins (quarterly) - $120 to $215
Gym (monthly) - $65 to $99

Expecting to hear about utility increases soon. Local school district is also attempting to raise tax later in the year, if it passes it’ll increase our annual property tax by around $500.

MeanderingGently · 14/04/2022 03:13

Local Tesco. Used to use Fairy Liquid washing up stuff, small bottle went up to a £1. Trying to cut down on my regular bills so switched to Tesco's own, after Christmas it was 35p for the same size. It then changed in price every week, going up to 38p, 40p, 42p....I think it might be 45p now.

I've managed to go to a bulk-buy place and get 5 litres of the stuff for a couple of quid instead, I shall just refill my old bottles. 5 litres should last me for years!!

CatWoman12345 · 14/04/2022 03:31

I use to drive fancy cars that cost loads in petrol/diesel. Now my fiesta is costing me almost as much to run, but nowhere near as fun.

Electric costs are the same but now I’m without my hottub is off and empty.

Sad times.

denbigh · 14/04/2022 05:05

We just had our vote on the school bond and levy. It would have put our property taxes up by around $800 a year. Fortunately it didn’t pass, thanks to a few very good Facebook posts that presented excellent arguments against it.
ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 14/04/2022 06:32

We went to a BrewDog for lunch and a cheese burger and chips is now £18! Michelin prices!

ffscovid · 14/04/2022 06:41

Cat food in Sainsburys ((their own brand). It was £2.60 in Jan / Feb, it's now £4.
I've told the cats that 3 nights a week, they'll have to catch a mouse for supper.

@Blueeyedgirl21

I’ve just cancelled Disney plus and Spotify m. We will have to survive with Amazon prime and Netflix! The horror! Joking but it’s £18 a month that will cover the rise in little things like a sandwich or a coffee going up.
If you happen to have Tesco Clubcard points there is a special offer on Disney+ until 29th April of £8 in points for 6 months, usually it's 3 months.
User7493268965 · 14/04/2022 06:51

My Tesco online shop was about £60, it now seems to be nearer £80

BobbinThreadbare123 · 14/04/2022 06:52

We've noticed it mostly in filling the cars - used to be worth having a big diesel cruiser but not now. Our energy bill has gone from about £80 up to £180. DH and I are very lucky to be able to rejig and afford it but I worry about some of my family members. There's a few supermarket things I won't buy now as well; eg yoghurt for which I used to pay a quid for six portions is now more than double.

Eviebeans · 14/04/2022 06:55

I did a shop in lidl on Saturday. I shop there regularly. When all the items had gone through and the cashier saw the total she said "no surely that can't be right - let's go through the receipt and check through the shopping to see if something has gone through twice or something". It hadn't-but several things had jumped up in price.

GalactatingGoddess · 14/04/2022 06:57

Nursery fees were an extra £50 this month.
Shopping has increased we now spend about £60 at Aldi compared to £45 as we eat mostly veggie

Costs £45/55 to fill our normal family car. Used to be £35/40 and petrol is going faster somehow

DinosaursAreCool · 14/04/2022 06:59

Goats milk (which I only buy for the dog to have with her breakfast 😂) has gone up from £1.80 to £1.95.

Our local takeaway has put up all prices by 10%, they put a sign up in the window informing everyone of the increase.

TenoringBehind · 14/04/2022 07:01

Dog food. 14 kg sack has gone up from £48 to £58. Doesn’t contain grain, just fish and sweet potato.

TerraNovaTwo · 14/04/2022 07:15

@EmeraldShamrock1

The increases will impact on employment.

We usually have a takeaway on a Friday evening but it won't be happening now likewise with other guilty pleasures I won't be having my nails done either.

Just by the ridiculously high covid and non covid absentee rate at my workplace, the impact of the cost of living crisis on employment won't make a jot of difference.
ItsDisneyBitch · 14/04/2022 07:19

Normal semi skimmed was £1.09 for four pints is now £1.25.

The pasta bake sauce I like was £1.50 now £1.80.

I’m alternating my shopping between Asda and Lidl now. Rarely go to Tesco.

SafelySoftly · 14/04/2022 07:22

Amazing how many people who say they are struggling have pets. I see them as a luxury that I’d only have if I wasn’t struggling with money. I couldn’t imagine my kids missing out because of animal costs.
