Inspired by another thread but mainly by my own experiences today.
In February it was 20p to use the public loos at our favourite seaside town. Today it has doubled to 40p! There are now contactless points incase you don't have any cash. 40p to pee!
Mr Kipling cherry Bakewells have jumped to £1.90 in Asda and I'm sure they used to be £1.40 or sometimes even £1 and that was only a few weeks back. Cake isn't essential I know, but peeing is. Things have gone up generally but the odd pence here and there isn't always noticed but these are huge jumps.

Also shrinkflation - mushrooms used to be 400g punnets, now 350g, same with grapes and strawberries.

Tinned tomatoes, kidney beans, chick peas all gone from 39p to 45p.

Tomatoes from 59p for 6 to 70p.

Butter is a ridiculous price, so is yoghurt.

Peppapigforlife · 13/04/2022 22:27

I've just remembered I went into a fish and chip shop today and it was £11 for take away cod and chips. Both small. It was town centre and tourist spot but I realised I couldn't afford fish and chips. £5 for a battered sausage and chips in the places I've seen so far! I think I'm going to start learning a lot of new culinary skills!

@NeedleNoodle3 admittedly it is the luxury option but still a huge increase.

NeedleNoodle3 · 13/04/2022 22:29

It really is a huge increase.

portionplate · 13/04/2022 22:29

I went to buy a portion of chips at the beach today, £5!!!

Maverickess · 13/04/2022 22:31

@Belledan1

Some branded 6 bags of crisps are 1.80! Do get aldi ones but older teenager likes branded ones for school. Also bannanas have really gone up.
In my local co-op these are actually the cheapest ones available, 6 walkers for £1.80, their own brand are basically permanently out of stock and they're the cheapest but all plain, no flavours.

Apart from the obvious price increase on the gas and electric, weekly bus ticket so far only gone up 80p when I was expecting more to be honest.

Feel very lucky that my broadband is staying the same price for another year - £18 a month, and rent only up £16 a month.

Mostly noticed it on food, usual monthly shop about £15-20 more, and clothes, trying to find some work stuff and everything is either expensive (for my budget) or the cheapest stuff is out of stock and has been for a while.

Thisismynamenow · 13/04/2022 22:32

It used to cost me £70 to fill my tank of fuel up in my car. Today it cost £60 to fill half of it.

The lasagne I used to buy for like £3.50 in aldi has gone up over £4.50.

Pasta in Aldi is also over £1.50 when it was around a £1.

LondonQueen · 13/04/2022 22:34

My car is now £150 to fill up😳was a lot less when I bought it 2 years ago.

NoAprilFool · 13/04/2022 22:39

My car is now £55 to fill up when it was £40 not so long ago (a wee Honda Jazz)
I’m rubbish at remembering specific prices but our online shop used to hit £70 occasionally if we’d run out of loads of toiletries/cleaning products. It’s £100 on a regular basis now.

Furrybutts · 13/04/2022 22:39

A year ago £63 of diesel would fill my car, today it was £90!
Also my car takes AdBlue and that went from £12 for a container to £20 for the same IN A WEEK!
My big food shop is done in M&S with top ups and basics from Aldi. I haven't noticed an increase in M&S food but have done with Aldi.

storminabuttercup · 13/04/2022 22:44

We're at the coast at the min, yesterday we decided to just have chips for dinner as we were going out for tea, 3 portions of chips, 1 small curry sauce, 1 small mushy peas cost 12 pounds. I was expecting maybe 7 pounds.
Everything on the weekly shop seems to have gone up. Pasta 50p to 60p, eggs £1.09 to £1.15

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 13/04/2022 22:45

Car parking has shot up, all day special used to be 3.20 its now 4.70, Another carpark has gone from 2 to 4 pounds.

Meat, local butchers was 3 for £10 now its £11

Takeaway every dish has gone up 50p

Milk we get delivered has gone up 5p per pint. We get 6 pints a day.

Local veg box gone from 7 to 10

Gas and ele tri from 125 to 240

We are very lucky we can afford these increases but lots cant

Blueeyedgirl21 · 13/04/2022 22:45

I’ve just cancelled Disney plus and Spotify m. We will have to survive with Amazon prime and Netflix! The horror! Joking but it’s £18 a month that will cover the rise in little things like a sandwich or a coffee going up.

ToothGrinder · 13/04/2022 22:46

M&S basics, weirdly, haven't gone up at all. A PP mentioned honey : that's still the same price in m&s. Bread, butter, milk, basic cheddar, coffee, tea etc also. Even crisps are the same price. Their deals around ready meals etc are more expensive/less for your money but food without frills is pretty good there rn comparatively speaking. Eg a basic but fair quality loaf costs less than an own brand (but not basic, which is shit anyway) loaf in co op, Asda, Sainsbury's etc.

Destinyisall88 · 13/04/2022 22:47

Nescafé azera used to be 100g pots but is now 90g. In Sainsbury's it was about 6 quid! Luckily I stocked up a while back but I'll be switching to cheaper coffee that's for sure.

littlequestion · 13/04/2022 22:49

DS was very excited when our curry takeaway delivery came with a new menu, till I pointed out it was the same menu just with increased prices. Dishes have gone up from average £8 to £9.50.

justfiveminutes · 13/04/2022 22:49

I can understand why the cost of many goods are increasing but why is it so much more expensive for things like soft play or using a public loo. Is it just that their energy bills have gone up? Why are car park prices increasing so much? Feels like everyone is just thinking that customers are braced for big increases, so they can get away with doing it too.

My dog food was £3.75 in January but £4.50 now.

AprilAlready · 13/04/2022 22:50

My energy direct debit is to increase from £130 to £330.

Hillary17 · 13/04/2022 22:50

Transport. Used to be £3.50 for a day ticket where we live - now it’s £4.60! Train has also gone up £1.90 for the same journey.

justfiveminutes · 13/04/2022 22:51

@AprilAlready

My energy direct debit is to increase from £130 to £330.
I thought the cap was increasing 50%. Were you in debit before, or is that the price to fix? What a huge increase.
FairyLightPups · 13/04/2022 22:52

Our food shop for the two of us has jumped from £40pw to £60pw and if anything we're buying less.

Our gas and leccy has went up by £50. Wifi by £4.

duskyspringfield · 13/04/2022 22:58

earsup · 13/04/2022 23:06

caringcarer · 13/04/2022 23:08

Parking at local swimming pool used to be £1.50 for up to 2 hours. Now £2 for up to 2 hours. Food shopping not big amounts on one product but every item seems to have gone up between 5-15 pence. That all adds up on a weekly shop. Also Morrisons used to give you points on shopping and fuel. Every third week I used to have enough points to get £5 off. Now they don't do this they just offer on a random product I don't buy.
