Inspired by another thread but mainly by my own experiences today.
In February it was 20p to use the public loos at our favourite seaside town. Today it has doubled to 40p! There are now contactless points incase you don't have any cash. 40p to pee!
Mr Kipling cherry Bakewells have jumped to £1.90 in Asda and I'm sure they used to be £1.40 or sometimes even £1 and that was only a few weeks back. Cake isn't essential I know, but peeing is. Things have gone up generally but the odd pence here and there isn't always noticed but these are huge jumps.

@PaddleBoardingMomma
I’ve switched to Aldi’s baby formula since I stopped BF I find it great and agrees with my baby. How can parents afford the branded stuff now. It’s extortionate.

Iced coffee in coop (own brand) £1 to £1.15
It might not seem a lot but that’s a big jump if you ask me. Totally first world mind.

Lex345 · 13/04/2022 21:54

Aldi do part baked rolls, pack of 6 were 49p now they are 55p. The 2 pack baguettes have stayed at 49p so far. Milk has gone up a lot near us. It used to be £2.20 for 2x 4 pint in the co op now its £2.60.

Allinhistiming · 13/04/2022 21:57

Power NI electric monthly dd used to be £73 per month now it has increased to £106 per month. It used to be £55 back in 2014 when I was working full time and now am sahm with husband working full time and 3 days at home which is great in many ways but also doesn't help electric costs 🙃

tkwal · 13/04/2022 21:58

Multipack biscuits/cakes are getting smaller and the packs are also smaller. What used to be a pack of 12 is now a pack of 10 smaller items and price rises on some of the own brand products I use are often 50%.

Tigofigo · 13/04/2022 22:00

I've noticed supermarket prices have gone up - things like own brand tinned tomatoes 10p more and so on.

But what's really made a difference to us is the lack of discounting. We used to buy in bulk when items were on special offer. (There aren't own-brand alternatives of a few things we buy regularly).

Food brands feeling the squeeze of the raw ingredients going up seem to be offering fewer special offers, and the offers that ARE on aren't as good.

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/04/2022 22:01

A bag of ice has gone up from £1 to £1.25

Yes I know it’s just water but was my thing every week

Dolares · 13/04/2022 22:02

The local soft play now charges entry for adults to sit at a table.

SleeplessWB · 13/04/2022 22:03

Definitely petrol/diesel. My largish car was £106 last week and it wasn't even completely empty! I nearly fainted.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 13/04/2022 22:03

Box of 12 packets of wipes at Tesco were £6.00 and are now £7.20.

I’ve noticed a significant increase in my food shopping despite cutting back. Tesco are recording yet another record breaking profit. I think I’m going to change to Aldi.

BrioNotBiro · 13/04/2022 22:05

There's hidden price rises too - the cost may most have altered a lot but the contents are smaller. I'm sure my regular loaf has shrunk.

NeedleNoodle3 · 13/04/2022 22:05

The seafood platter at my favourite fish restaurant has increased from £30 to £50.

goodnightgrumble · 13/04/2022 22:07

Worst thing ever. Toffee Yum Yums have gone up from £1 to £1.50.

Bread has gone up. Only 20p a loaf but will add up over the year!

portionplate · 13/04/2022 22:07

There's a issue about eggs and potentially shortages. Saw it on the news but can't remember the reason.

Fayekrista · 13/04/2022 22:08

My baby's formula, was 11.49, now 12.50
Electric was averaging 1.20 a day, 3.40 yesterday 😱

goodnightgrumble · 13/04/2022 22:08

Apparently my local fish and chips shop said fish has gone up 40%

sweetkitty · 13/04/2022 22:10

Cat litter - used to be about £1.60 now bag is smaller and it’s £2

Of course gas & electricity jumped from £130 to £220 a month

StScholastica · 13/04/2022 22:11

Even Home Bargains have got in on the trend. I noticed most of their stock has gone up by 20-25%.
UK holiday prices are soaring as well. £2.6k for a week in a cottage in Cornwall. Shock

Riverlee · 13/04/2022 22:11

Goats milk - cost £1.95 in Tesco yesterday. Used to be £1.75. When first started buying it ten years ago, cost £1.40.

Pasta - used to be 50p. Now 70p.

portionplate · 13/04/2022 22:12

i was on holiday last week, 4 nights on a caravan site. Booked just before lockdown. The exact same van for same holiday next yr has gone from £600 to £1000

ToothGrinder · 13/04/2022 22:14

Definitely bus tickets. Was £14.50 now £18.00 a week. And that's just for one company - if I want to do the same journey with a different company I have to buy another one off ticket for £4.

They've cut the service too from theoretically one every ten minutes (it never happened) to one every twenty (again, rarely that "frequent"), one every half hour after six until nine when it stops altogether. And that just covers me going to work and back. It's so unreliable that I end up getting taxis to appointments which again have gone up - what used to be a £6.50/£7 journey is now £9 at least.

I know that car drivers have been hit by rising costs but believe me those of us who couldn't afford cars anyway are getting absolutely hammered by them.

Appin · 13/04/2022 22:15

Both luxuries, but just from reading my emails tonight. HP instant ink (50 sheets per month) has gone from 1.99 to 2.99. And my Netflix subscription has gone from 9.99 to 10.99.

Not sure my 1.12% payrise is going to cut it.

NeedleNoodle3 · 13/04/2022 22:17

portionplate 4 nights in a caravan for £1000 is a crazy price.

CheeryTreeBlossom · 13/04/2022 22:21

Doing online shopping really makes the increases visible. Ocado does it that you keep the price at the time you add it to your basket, not delivery. Sometimes I remove something and see it jump up.

In just the last 2 weeks:
Instant coffee refill pouch increased from £3.65 to £5.90.
Own brand 250g butter from 1.25 to 1.75
DD rice cake snacks from 1.20 to 1.70
It's similar across most of our shop.

Our personal food inflation is probably running at 50%. I've seen a lot of stuff which went up 5-10% at the start of the year, and then has repeated that each month. Crackers that were £1 were £1.05, then 10, 20 and now 1.25.

TweenTrauma · 13/04/2022 22:21

In the last year I’ve gone from shopping mostly at sainsburys, then Asda…and now I can’t even afford Asda so I’m doing pretty much all of my shopping at Lidl. Even Lidl, where I’m buying more stuff to make things from scratch because they don’t have as much choice of pre-made stuff, my shop still comes to at least £70. I used to think it was impossible to spend more than £50 in Lidl, you could get a massive trolley full and it was never more than £50.

ItsDinah · 13/04/2022 22:22

Supermarket's cheapest set honey has gone up in the 4 major chains I use in the last few months from £1 to £1.50. I know this is still cheap but what a jump. Definitely fewer special offer prices .
