Gove for PM

With Boris the lamest of lame ducks with not much longer until he is toast and Rishi "don't tax me" Sunak seemingly out of the running AIBU to think that the path is clear for Michael Gove to become the countries saviour and best ever Prime Minister?

With a background in education I see the damage Gove has done to the system and to the quality of children's learning.

I've always said I would emigrate if Gove became PM. (Except Brexit has made that so much harder).

jgw1 · 12/04/2022 18:41

You’re clearly insane. Sorry.*

@dollymuchymuchness very kind of you to say so.

Hope not. He’s a prize twat.

@rubbishatballet

My old CEO at an environmental ALB really rated him when he was at Defra. Most definitely not a Tory voter but found him incredibly bright and also straightforward to work with, compared to pretty much any other SoS he'd known
He is at least interested in the departments he has worked in and tried to get things done.

Unfortunately that is not a good thing.

God help us all. He is an awful man! 😣

Rachie1973 · 12/04/2022 18:44

Spot the difference.

Waiting for unsavoury information about Gove to be leaked from no. 10 any moment now ...

Fulmine · 12/04/2022 18:46

I totally despised Gove as Education Minister, but was pleasantly surprised when he was in the Ministry of Justice. At least he has a brain, which is more than you can say of the rest of the current cabinet.

SenoraMiasma · 12/04/2022 18:47

Hasn’t Gove protected the cladding affected tenants who were told they had to pay for removal?

sorryforswearing · 12/04/2022 18:48

Odious man. He united the teachers as Education Secretary though. We all detested him.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/04/2022 18:50

Mrs Gove! Is that you?

BitOutOfPractice · 12/04/2022 18:50

I vote that this is a reverse, surely.

NO HE HAS NOT! He has spoken a lot of hone words but as it currently stands, leaseholders (myself included) are still forking out thousands while developers count their profits. I refuse to see him as the saviour of leaseholders because he has achieved nothing so far but me fine words.
BitOutOfPractice · 12/04/2022 18:54

If ever I’m having a bad day I watch this to cheer myself up.

PhoebeFriends · 12/04/2022 18:55

No, no, no, NO - anyone else- absolutely anyone but not him - NO

saggyhairyass · 12/04/2022 19:00

He's wasted quite often.

No.

DowningStreetParty · 12/04/2022 19:01

Nice try Michael. You’d be an absolute disaster of a PM.

(Though there’s nothing wrong with getting pissed and going out clubbing once in a while and more MPs should do that. Smile)

LeftFootForward · 12/04/2022 19:03

Ahh, so that's where all this anti Rishi stuff has been leaked from, of course its the House of Gove !!
I really, really don't like him. I'm on the brink of voting Tory over all the trans what is a woman nonsense. My stomach is not strong enough to vote for a party headed by Gove though 🤢

chisanunian · 12/04/2022 19:04

Christ no. Two-faced slimeball.

Achtung · 12/04/2022 19:05

I think they should beg Michael Portillo to come back.

Iggly · 12/04/2022 19:07

Bwahahahha thanks OP, I needed a laugh.

It goes to show exactly why the Tories aren’t kicking Boris Johnson out. It’s because they literally have no credible alternative.

I’m guessing they’ll start grooming someone soon to have a new leader in time for the next general election.

Now I wish Labour would do the fucking same. Start getting a new leader sorted now.

sst1234 · 12/04/2022 19:14

@eddiemairswife

I think Jeremy Hunt might be the best of a bad lot.
Maybe he can trance the country into progress with his weird wide grin and direct stare when talking.
bumblebeach · 12/04/2022 19:15

Just NO

Westfacing · 12/04/2022 19:19

@Achtung

I think they should beg Michael Portillo to come back.
You must be too young to remember what a right-wing git he was in his heyday.

He wasn't always smiley Michael in pink trousers and a copy of Bradshaw's under his arm.

the80sweregreat · 12/04/2022 19:19

I hope not ! I Can't stand Michael Gove
I hope Labour get a new leader soon as well
It all needs a shake up everywhere
