To be disgusted by brooklyn Beckham wedding

I know alot of it is probably exajerated by media but to splosh out that much on a completely ott wedding seems quite revolting to me when millions all over the world are dying and how that money could have been spent on helping starving dying children, housing homeless people and helping refugees fleeing from war torture disaster and god knows what. And while I'm having a moan flogging just 1 painting of the royal family could probably solve alot of problems and it makes me sick how they preach to everyone about everything whilst sitting on fortunes t they don't need want and probably don't even like or notice anymore. Anyway that's what I think.

OP posts:

Rich people tend to have very lavish weddings. Not my cup of tea (not that I could afford it anyway lol) but each to their own.

I believe they give a lot of money to charity. It's up to them how they choose to spend their money.

EastYorksLass · 11/04/2022 22:27

I agree OP.... tone deaf, vacuous and very poor taste As for ' oh they give to charity' they will get tax advantages for that and it does not absolve them of this vulgar display of consumerism - IMO

GatoradeMeBitch · 11/04/2022 22:27

The money went to security firms, car hire, hotels, florists, cake companies, caterers, decorators among other companies.

I will never understand outrage over rich people spending their money. But if they sit on it and gift each other an odd sock for Christmas it's oh-so-elegant. The world needs rich people to spend money.

Tiredalwaystired · 11/04/2022 22:30

Or maybe the person who can afford to buy the mythical painting from the royal family just donate that money to charity instead?

Everyone is allowed to spend their personal wealth, however large or small, on whatever they want. As long as they pay their taxes then, just as for you and I, the remainder is theirs to do with as they choose. They are likely to give a percentage of their money to charity, but it’s really no one’s business but theirs how it is spent.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/04/2022 23:16

The Beckham kids don’t deserve the money I assume you tell anyone who inherits money that they don't deserve it and should give it all away, and anyone who benefits from their parents financial situation past 18 years of age that they should stand on their own two feet and never accept so much as a snow globe at Christmas from them.

ArtVandalay · 11/04/2022 23:26

I just looked at photos online. The bride had very strange shoes. They looked like hooves.

Also, Victoria may have had a teensy bit too much lip filler.

Does that apply to all weddings or just theirs?
Blossomtoes · 12/04/2022 00:29

Does that apply to all weddings or just theirs?

All weddings don’t cost millions of £££££.

As a percentage of their money it's peanuts.

And if they gave a good sum to Ukraine to offset?

It's their money, they provided a lot of employment and it's entirely up to them. They were hardly going to pop off to Vegas, were they?

Motherdare · 12/04/2022 00:39

It is far better for rich people to spend their money in this way than hoard it in the bank/property or buy stuff that makes other rich people richer. Let them fritter it away on caterers, cleaners, drivers, seamstresses, florists, marquee companies etc etc

LBFseBrom · 12/04/2022 01:49

I agree, Motherdare. The wedding generated a lot of employment. It's not my sort of thing but I don't grudge them at all. I hope everyone had fun. The bride's parents are unbelievably wealthy so why should they not spend some of their dosh on their daughter's big day. I just wish them well and hope it lasts.

BritWifeInUSA · 12/04/2022 03:01

So, tell us about your wedding day, OP. How much did you spend as a proportion of your annual salary? How much did you donate to starving children on your wedding day? How many homeless have you invited into hood home?

SquirrelG · 12/04/2022 03:07

The Beckham are disgusting human beings, both talentless and thick, I wouldn't swap with them for 100 times all the money they have, she never eats, has a fake body, he has severe OCD, he plays away, their children are talentless grasping brats who plainly know the price if everything and the value of nothing - dreadful people, who spend their time with other dreadful people, don't envy them for one second

You on the other hand sound a right charmer! I doubt the Beckhams talk about other people the way you do. Your insane jealously is showing here, not to mention your ignorance. If someone told me I could spend a day with either the Beckhams or you I know who I would choose (hint - it wouldn't be you)

LBFseBrom · 12/04/2022 03:30

I agree with Squirrel G, what she quoted was appalling.

This is disgusting. Personally comments about health conditions they may or may not have are out of order.

I bet they spent less of a % of their annual income on this wedding than most posters here.
SquirrelG · 12/04/2022 04:38

OP, surely you realise that however much the wedding cost, if that money had been used to ease suffering it would have only made a tiny dent in the world's problems, and would do nothing to ease them going forward. It's just not as simple as you think. Also, people are entited to do whatever they want with THEIR money. You seem to be easily "disgusted".

GrimDamnFanjo · 12/04/2022 04:41

It's their choice. Personally I find the media obsession with celebrity offspring odd.

Hairbrush123 · 12/04/2022 06:01

Did you feel that way about the royal wedding?

Blossomtoes · 12/04/2022 10:23

Anyone with the most tenuous grasp of basic economics would work that out. And your point is?

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 12/04/2022 10:27

I’ll never get angry about money coming from private (taxed) wealth & being circulated back into the economy. Think how many businesses and individuals are going to benefit from the wedding (…and pay tax!). Brilliant.

ssd · 12/04/2022 10:54

I do think the Beckhams are a vlose family, they seem ok, david is probably the worst of the lot. I dont know why Victoria puts up with him.

ODFOx · 12/04/2022 11:53

Young people in love choose to get married in a manner appropriate to their family circumstances shocker.

But why did his mother choose to wear a silky nightgown to the wedding?

Snoopsnoggysnog · 12/04/2022 12:15

Yeah what on earth was that nightgown about

CMZ2018 · 12/04/2022 12:17

Mind your own business, jealousy is all it is.
