To be disgusted by brooklyn Beckham wedding

I know alot of it is probably exajerated by media but to splosh out that much on a completely ott wedding seems quite revolting to me when millions all over the world are dying and how that money could have been spent on helping starving dying children, housing homeless people and helping refugees fleeing from war torture disaster and god knows what. And while I'm having a moan flogging just 1 painting of the royal family could probably solve alot of problems and it makes me sick how they preach to everyone about everything whilst sitting on fortunes t they don't need want and probably don't even like or notice anymore. Anyway that's what I think.

What a shame, he spoke very highly of yours

GirlsTalk250 · 11/04/2022 21:28

The Royal Collection does not belong to the royal family personally; it belongs to the nation.

Are you seriously suggesting that all museums flog their collections, or are you just being spiteful about the royals?

On the other hand I agree the Beckham wedding was a grotesque waste of money and tone deaf in its timing.

Oh lovely. There are a few pieces I have my eye on, when's my turn?

tearinghairout · 11/04/2022 21:35

Yanbu. Very tone deaf and needlessly extravagant. Held at her home, so didn't even need to hire the venue. £3million for one day? They didn't feel the need to rein it in at all, did they? But regardless of their wealth, the Beckhams will never be classy.

Cherryblossoms85 · 11/04/2022 21:36

Why does everything have to be dragged down to the lowest level of what the poorest person could afford?

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 11/04/2022 21:40

YANBU. I find it completely disgusting that people like this can live life so extravagantly when I see posts on here about people seeing families at the till in Aldi having to go and put items back on the shelf because they can’t afford them. It’s grosteque.

Tbh I'm just annoyed that they didn't have 2 Become 1 by the Spice Girls as their first dance. Show some respect to your mother Brooklyn!!

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 11/04/2022 21:47

@OakPine

They are quite ordinary people who through hard work, some talent, and luck have become very rich. Good luck to them! I don't envy them having to live their lives and bring up their children in such a spotlight.

The Royal Family on the other hand. Wealth "inherited" from the nation, spend as little of their own money as possible, whilst amassing vast fortunes. How fucking dare they sit in their palaces pretending to have a one bar fire on, when people in this country, their so called "subjects" are literally starving and freezing. How fucking dare they!

Hard work? He got lucky because of who his parents are.

The money they spent went into the pockets of florists, caterers, waiters, dress shops, dress designers, make up artists, hair dressers, taxi companies, wine merchants, stationary companies, Cake makers, DJs, roadies, electricians, marquee hire companies, local hotels, local restaurants, … and all the people down the chain that work for these companies or the companies that supply or service them.

Putting money into the economy is a good thing not a bad thing.

blubberyboo · 11/04/2022 21:53

It’s their money not ours, not like taxpayers money thrown down the tubes for useless projects.
Plus if they are spending money then some business are making money from it. Caterers, florists etc etc

Horological · 11/04/2022 21:54

@OakPine

They got rich by hard work? Why do people always trot this out about the Beckhams? They are not unpleasant people and they don't appear to be lazy but they don't work harder than the average nurse or teacher.

San141 · 11/04/2022 21:54

Their money, their choice!! Agree with @louderthan!! Some people need to realise that it was the wedding they chose with the budget THEY had! Yes some of us are skint..but that's NOT their fault!!!

BourbonVanilla · 11/04/2022 22:01

Yeah, I think it's tone deaf to spend 3 million on a wedding when the world is in the state it is now.

Agree with this. Ive just seen a video on my FB news feed of a 67 year old disabled woman who had no money to buy gas till her pension went in. She was the sole carer for 2 of her grandchildren whose mother had died. She said it was the first time in her life she couldn't afford to buy gas. She was scared for the future, not for herself, but her grandkids.

The royal family will never have that worry.

dropoutdoreen · 11/04/2022 22:03

She has her own money so must have married Brooklyn for his dazzling looks and personality

Loverofoldfilms · 11/04/2022 22:05

I had a look now after reading this. They asked for donations for Ukraine instead of wedding presents. They didn't have to do that.

I am more worried about Mr Sunak's wife's non dominciled status and tax avoidance tbh.

lovescaca · 11/04/2022 22:07

Someone snds jealous 🤷🏼‍♀️

And surely his cooking
EllaVaNight · 11/04/2022 22:15

I don't take an interest in celebrity life like many do unless I know them personally so I'm totally indifferent about the Beckham's tbh.

However, I'm sick of the attitude that we mustn't enjoy anything ever because of "what's happening in the world".

I don't know why some people have only just woken up and realised that the world has been awful, with terrible atrocities and cruel people. It's been like that since day dot.

Personally if I couldn't take enjoyment in the very few people I have in my life then if have killed myself long ago.

Yeah, I doubt they paid for the wedding when Father of the Bride is a Billionaire who has in fact worked for his money

blacksax · 11/04/2022 22:19

What percentage of your income did you donate to charity in the last year OP?

lightisnotwhite · 11/04/2022 22:20

To be fair no one needs billions of pounds. You can’t spend that much in a lifetime
I have no idea why the ultra rich don’t use it to make poorer peoples lives better ( and not tens of thousands but actual billions).

The Querns job is look after stuff that is history and therefore worth alot.

The Beckham kids don’t deserve the money. Most people worry that too many eggs at Easter will make their kid spoilt and entitled. The million dollar weddings don’t actually help the poor. The money goes to the few in charge. Most of those working their arse off at these sorts of weddings will be minimum wage short term employees .

MsFogi · 11/04/2022 22:22

I find this constant pull to the lowest common denominator ridiculous - who will be the arbiter of what a 'reasonable' wedding is and what constitutes 'splashing out'. I suspect that we would have to all go for a registry office wedding with just a couple of witnesses and feed them some sausage rolls at home afterwards if we follow your logic OP - any money spent could be given to starving children etc.
