20 fines issued to members of staff at Downing Street and thus was not one of the leading topics on ten o'clock news.

BJ has got away with it hasn't he?

@Unphased

TooBigForMyBoots As I asked before, Have we left the EU, Yes, In that term Brexit is done,( Brexit, leaving the EU )
I think this is right. It's a catastrophic mess, especially in NI, but I would guess that brexit voters don't mind, or don't notice. It's irreversible and it that sense it's done.

All the work has still to be done and massive bill to be paid. You'd have to possess very simplistic thinking to believe that Brexit is done. Or even close to being done.
kickupafuss · 31/03/2022 16:17

They will keep him on until the next election then appoint another leader who will distance themselves from all that Johnson has done. Who would want to take over now?

Zotter · 31/03/2022 16:18

There’s talk of a possible election before 2024, as there are no longer any fixed term parliaments.

I wonder if he’ll go for one next year, to avoid any fallout from the covid investigation but before sue gray finally reports 😂

Ha @Iggly, he’s on a sticky wicket there! Good!!

MsJinks · 31/03/2022 16:19

I hear all the folk saying it’s just a bit of cake and well that’s an opinion, even if I don’t share it. I hear he’s done brexit and is managing Ukraine - again an opinion.
My biggest concern and wonder is that it’s accepted along with his partying that he lied to everyone- including at the despatch box which is some breach of conduct anyway - but how on earth can this not matter? How is it unimportant? I hear let him get on with the job but I haven’t a clue if he is or not, or what he’s doing, as he lies - but apparently that’s ok. I do care about policies but I care a lot more about the prime ministers telling the truth.

CallmeHendricks · 31/03/2022 16:20

"You'd have to possess very simplistic thinking to believe that Brexit is done. Or even close to being done."

And that's not even starting on whether it was a good idea in the first place. There is a special place in hell reserved for those who put us in this mess, and Boris is at the front of the queue.

LardyDee · 31/03/2022 16:24

I am curious as to what your definition of brexit is?

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 31/03/2022 16:24

@Unphased

daimbarsatemydogsbone What do you want a sliding scale of lies and actions
I want a Prime Minister who, if he stands in front of the nation and tells us his government has come up with some laws to try to mitigate the spread of a virus and he needs to tell us, as our leader, to follow the rules, doesn't then immediately fuck off to a load of parties in direct and obvious contravention of those laws.

I want a Prime Minister who doesn't tell repeated and obvious lies to Parliament and the country.

We should want that in my opinion because the alternative is corruption and chaos.

It makes no difference how good or bad previous incumbents were - the "they are all as bad" bollocks.

We need a proper government now, not one led by an amoral faux-buffoon.

Usingit · 31/03/2022 16:25

They have only fined the first lot so far, probably the ones where there was no disputing it, one of the photos clearly showed a party with a table with food and quite a few people in a group party pose, drink in hand and thumbs up type of thing, iirc someone resigned out of that group.

No other Pm or politicians has been held to that high level, why BJ?

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/03/2022 16:32

I can tell you my definition of done in this context @LardyDee. It means finished and Brexit is not finished. Not by a long shot.

Unphased · 31/03/2022 16:32

TooBigForMyBoots
Not a simplistic view, A view I imagine BJ and many other hold, They never said everything will be done , but they will get Brexit done, they have, it’s the Truth.

Unphased · 31/03/2022 16:36

TooBigForMyBoots
The definition of Brexit, is the act of leaving the European Union, which we have, ie Brexit is done, I don’t know what you call the bit where you try and negotiate other bits

@Unphased of course they all are, it's called the ministerial code www.gov.uk/government/publications/ministerial-code

Mr Johnson was asked whether he would abide by the ministerial code, which says ministers must resign if they knowingly mislead Parliament. Mr Johnson said "of course".

Or did he lie about that too?

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 31/03/2022 16:49

@DdraigGoch

No there isn’t, holding those in power to account is so important, maybe if Putin was held accountable this war wouldn’t be going on

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/03/2022 16:52

I'd call it Doing Brexit, which it is. Once the agreements are all in place and being adhered to, then Brexit will be done. It's not done yet.

Not our circus, not our monkeys. Let’s get our shit dealt with before we start criticising other countries.

UnconditionalSurrender · 31/03/2022 16:56

Police still working on it so there's more to come. As Johnson is now refusing to accept that the law was broken despite the fact the police have issued fines indicating the law was actually broken, I am expecting when its his turn he will deny all culpability despite being found guilty. Because Boris Johnson has no shame and never tells the truth about anything if he can help it. He has degraded the role of Prime Minister so far that a monkey in a suit would show more moral integrity and decency. But there's a war on donchya know.

clarrylove · 31/03/2022 16:57

Who cares really? I don't know any person who 100% stuck to the rules 100% of the time.

How many people do you know who made the rules? I don’t know anyone who 100% didn’t.

"that high level"

It's not a "high level" - it's a basic level of common decency.

Why do you keep going on about other Prime Ministers and politicians?

Do you think it's fine for Prime Ministers to tell lies and break the laws they have just made?
