To ask what you have at home

Was talking with a colleagues yesterday about safety devises at home and they made out that I was kind of over the top with things I have.
They got the house alarm and ring cameras for security outside and things like first aid kits and co2 thingy but started laughing when I told them I had fire extinguishers upstairs and downstairs, with fire blankets in kitchen.
Just wondered what people have in their homes. I'd assumed everyone would have everything they could Hmm

A Labrador and a baseball bat next to my bed. I have a bat in the boot of my car too.

Smoke alarm and CO2 detector on the landing, plenty of plasters and dressings, paracetamol plus prescribed stronger painkillers (I have arthritis). Cough mixture, flu and cold capsules, thermometer, antiseptics. Fire blanket in kitchen.

Smoke alarms which are on the mains
CO monitor

Burglar alarm - we put this on every time we got out and every night it's in partial coverage when we go to bed. Have been broken in to whilst in bed and the alarm meant they ran as soon as it went off. Would never not have one ever again. New alarm has an app on my phone so can see when and where it's ever set or triggered.

Both cars have alarms but not trackers.

All external doors have anti snap locks. Basic locks are useless and can be opened by a burglar within seconds. We discovered this the hard way.

All internal doors are fire doors as we are three floors, were standard on the house.

Windows have locks but we only lock the downstairs ones. We don't have young children so upstairs ones not an issue.

Have basic first aid kit plus medicines, cough sweets, etc. plus lots of my own medication I need inc sharps box. Re health stuff we all have out medical information set on our phones so can be accessed without unlocking, along with emergency contacts.

No fire blankets or fire extinguishers though.

Or fire alarms are a mix of heat and smoke.
@LatteToday Haven't seen anyone beat my AED yet Grin
I have the blood pressure monitor, heart monitor, oxygen monitor etc but definitely don't have an AED at home.

You’re right to have fire extinguisher and blanket in your home. I set my kitchen on fire by mistake (flambéing meat) and things could have been a whole lot worse had it not been for my fast thinking DH who ran down to the garage and grabbed the fire extinguisher from the car (recent trip through France). You can bet your life we have all the gear now!!

You are very sensible, ignore others - I live in a flat with no separate fire exits, so after Grenfell I installed a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in my kitchen plus Co and smoke alarms in every room - none of this costs very much after all, and I like to sleep soundly - the only drawback is I have to open all the windows before I make toast 😊😊😊
