What is happening in the world for this to be even vaguely ok? NHS lying to women about their rapists?

Something you may be not aware of is that the Guardian refuses to report on anything that it's going writers regard as "transphobic" - which is ANYTHING that questions safeguarding around predatory men who say they are trans. The Guardian will remove any and all comments that question its transactivist agenda. The Observer however will report on news of concern.

The fact that the Guardian hasn't bothered to do any kind of article or opinion piece speaks volumes. None of it good.

An issue taken up by Bariness Nicholson, who has rpvided information, support and pushed for investigation.

An issue reported by various media outlets, quotes from police and NHS officals alike - all part of the investigation now ongoing
