What is happening in the world for this to be even vaguely ok? NHS lying to women about their rapists?

@Abaababa

I know we collectively cancelled JK Rowling but can we just admit she had a point about female spaces?!!!
JK Rowling has said absolutely nothing offensive if you accept reality.
2Gen · 26/03/2022 17:29

@Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious

They aren't up in arms because they want to be part of the cool woke parade and shout 'you're transphobic' at anyone who dares to question things
You've hit the nail on th head there! It's also because we women can tend to be too agreeable and worry too much about hurting feelings to always stand up and speak up for the truth. We HAVE to get over that now because we are all in danger from this disingenuous ideology, especially elderly, disabled women and girl children. We have to start fighting back and not give a shiny shite what we're called. I don't care about being called a "transphobe" anymore, but maybe it's because I'm post menopausal, and the old oestrogen is low, lol. I don't care if people like me, nor if I'm pleasing them that much anymore. But we all have to stop caring so much and defend our right to be safe as women and girls! Come on ladies, time to fight our corner!
AlexaShutUp · 26/03/2022 17:29

That poor woman.

As if it wasn't already traumatic enough to be raped, but then to be gaslighted by the very people who are supposed to be caring for you.

It beggars belief tbh.

2Gen · 26/03/2022 17:31

P.S I should have just said CHILDREN. Paedophiles are going to jump on this bandwagon as well, as it will give them easier access to children. They already have in fact. God help children!

radsreds · 26/03/2022 17:32

YANBU, disgusting that women should have to put up with this bullshit.

The wrong people are in charge.

Whoever made this crazy and unsafe decision should be sacked.

JKR's essay - "J.K. Rowling Writes about Her Reasons for Speaking out on Sex and Gender Issues - J.K. Rowling" www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

She didn't say anything transphobic. In fact she expressed her support for transpeople. But also, as a domestic abuse survivor, expressed her belief that women should have single sex spaces. Spaces which are allowed to women under the Equality Act 2010.

radsreds · 26/03/2022 17:35

@Abaababa

Yeah we didn’t all cancel JKR….

Waitwhat23 · 26/03/2022 17:40

@DoYouSeaWhatISea

Baroness Emma Nicholson is an absolute star, in her dealings with this situation and others. I feel we are very fortunate to have her in our corner.
Baroness Nicolson has almost single handedly changed my opinion regarding the House of Lords. The situation here in Scotland is not helped by the fact we have no second chamber to hold the elected representatives (some of whom, let's be honest, want to be re-elected so will go along with the mob) to account.
2Gen · 26/03/2022 17:49

@Hashbr0wn

Horrific. I'm sure it had of been a member of staff assaulted they wouldn't have been fobbed off for a year. That poor women, I really hope she gets the correct support and justice.
Don't be so sure. I was assaulted a couple of times when I was a nurse, albeit not sexually, but I was fobbed off, and worse still, some people tried to make me feel it was my fault!
2Gen · 26/03/2022 17:57

@Raddiebubs

That article is really confusing and all articles I've read about the matter are pretty confusing. Until actual facts come out about the case I am reserving judgement to what actually happened and where the failings were. At the end of the day people are shit, there are people of every gender/race/identity/sexuality/etc capable of committing horrific crimes against other human beings and there has never been any such thing as "women's safe spaces" 🙄
What a crock! There have long been women's safe spaces, going back even to ancient Rome with the Vestal Virgins, and there is nothing to be confused about on the matter., There is nothing to be confused about men pretending to be women so they can sexually pray on them now that the boundaries of women's safe spaces have been blurred and your attitude is the sort of attitude that is enabling it. It's appallingly disingenuous! For shame!
radsreds · 26/03/2022 17:59

@Raddiebubs

What are you confused about??

TheWeeDonkey · 26/03/2022 18:11

YANBU

Its bad enough this happened without the additional abuse the poor woman as had to endure at the hands or hospital officials.

This could happen to any one of us, my heart breaks for what she has had to live through

LittleWhingingWoman · 26/03/2022 18:42

@Abaababa

We didn't collectively cancel her. Some morons on Twitter abused and harassed, threatened to rape her and threatened to kill her. The Sun put an interview with her abusive ex on the front page. Transactivists exposed her family home address publicly. Celebrities who she made famous denounced her on social media for woke points. Writers like Phillip Pullman, Neil Gaiman and Stephen King stuck their knives in.

Most sane and rational people agree with her. She cannot be cancelled. She's telling the truth.

LittleWhingingWoman · 26/03/2022 18:44

If this post gets moved we have a collective responsibility to keep talking about it.

This affects all women. And women are the gatekeepers to children.

We cannot allow predatory men to get away with this anymore. It's immoral.

The House of Lords has the power to call in and comment on Scottish legislation that it believes is concerning. It has done that already last year over 2 pieces of legislation which is said were so unclear that only the courts could interpret it.

The basic criteria of legislation is that the population in general should understand what is legal and what is not.

With the new Hate Crime legislation coming into force in Scotland, which remarkably has excluded sex from all the other categories of discrimination it includes, its not clear whether we may even include issues such as this in our homes or online without expecting a knock at our doors.

FlowerArranger · 26/03/2022 18:52

As I was never a HP fan, I never really took notice of JKR - until she stood up to be counted and wrote that essay. I now think she is one of the bravest people on the planet. She is articulate and fearless, and we should all support her - and others who object to women' s safe spaces being obliterated by the TWAW brigade.

felulageller · 26/03/2022 18:57

Rape culture alive and well.

I'd never feel safe in hospital.

Waitwhat23 · 26/03/2022 19:00

@SucculentChalice as there is no 'dwelling defence', it certainly looks like conversations around your own dinner table could be investigated as a hate crime -

"MSPs back criminalising hate speech at the dinner table | HeraldScotland" www.heraldscotland.com/news/19077579.msps-back-criminalising-hate-speech-dinner-table/

There's some disturbing historical parallels.

Speak for yourself, i never cancelled her, I agree with everything she says
WifeMotherWorkRepeat · 26/03/2022 19:06

This is truly scandalous! That poor woman. The NHS needs a serious overhaul and I sincerely hope those that have been proven to have LIED about a woman being raped by a male are fired.
I worry for my daughters future! Why are the safety and rights of women perpetually compromised and why do men/trans have more rights than women even though the majority of crimes associated with sexual assault or abuse are male to female?!?!
This whole trans topic is so screwed… women are losing their rights to safe places (hospitals, toilets, changing rooms, refuges, hospitals and prisons), women are loosing their rights to compete fairly in sport (Lia Thomas) and women are losing their identities (menstruation and pregnancy no longer belong exclusively to females).
This trans movement is misogynistic and scares the shit out of me!

Waitwhat23 · 26/03/2022 19:17

@succulentchalice I was interested by what you said about the House of Lords and the Scottish Government so had a wee read. Found this which is interesting - the SNP and Greens not keen!

"Rage at plans to give House of Lords greater powers over devolved bills | The National" www.thenational.scot/news/19860333.rage-plans-give-house-lords-greater-powers-devolved-bills/

I wonder what they would think of a second chamber based in Scotland.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/03/2022 19:42

Sad to say that the government's supposed "independent review" into single sex wards has already been captured by trans activists and a male LGBT adviser on the group has already written to trans groups telling them that nothing will change.
In addition, some hospital trusts even have policies allowing known male born sex offenders to be placed on wards with women and girls. That's how far the NHS has been captured - predators demands matter more than women's safety.

Wow that’s shocking. These oppressors seem to be well organised?

I honestly cannot believe what I have just read 😔
Thank you for sharing this article!

Tiphaine · 26/03/2022 21:30

You're not being remotely unreasonable OP. When the NHS is enabling rapists' access to vulnerable women and then denying it happened something is very wrong in our public institutions.
