What is happening in the world for this to be even vaguely ok? NHS lying to women about their rapists?
@succulentchalice I was interested by what you said about the House of Lords and the Scottish Government so had a wee read. Found this which is interesting - the SNP and Greens not keen!

"Rage at plans to give House of Lords greater powers over devolved bills | The National" www.thenational.scot/news/19860333.rage-plans-give-house-lords-greater-powers-devolved-bills/

I wonder what they would think of a second chamber based in Scotland.
It tends to be something they overlook, along with the question of an independent Scotland signing up to the European Convention on Human Rights - theres very little discussion, much less commitment to that.

Quite a lot of Scottish legislation has been felled for being in contravention of the Fundamental Charter of Human Rights, but now that we are no longer in the EU, that particular protection has been removed.

Still not convinced that the Hate Crime legislation wouldn't be in breach of the ECHR right to privacy and respect Article 8.

LittleWhingingWoman · 26/03/2022 21:58
Sad to say that the government's supposed "independent review" into single sex wards has already been captured by trans activists and a male LGBT adviser on the group has already written to trans groups telling them that nothing will change.
In addition, some hospital trusts even have policies allowing known male born sex offenders to be placed on wards with women and girls. That's how far the NHS has been captured - predators demands matter more than women's safety.

www.pressreader.com/uk/the-daily-telegraph/20210803/281505049263880
Locking vulnerable mentally ill patients in with sex offenders - and staff too afraid to say anything.

This is a nightmare.

It should be the front page of every newspaper. Especially the fucking Guardian.

Sex offenders on hospital wards?! What the actual FUCK?

How do I find out if this INSANE ruling affects my local hospital? And anywhere my loved ones live? (They’re not Nottingham Oxford Devon) Is there a list?

Getting reported for transphobia?!

I take it we are waiting a few years to let the complaints and cases stack up - before anything is done? Shock

MrsOvertonsWindow · 27/03/2022 09:15

Costumenonsense
The government have an allegedly independent review going on into single sex wars although as I posted earlier, a male doctor on the review has "reassured" trans lobby groups that "nothing will change" .
I've written to my MP to complain about the review being already biased against women's safety and I know Baroness Nicholson in the House of Lords (who's mentioned earlier in the thread) is making challenges.
I'd have hoped it was just a few extremists in NHS trusts pushing the idea of male born sex offenders on women's wards but after these revelations about rape denials to the police, I'm not sure any more.

It's just unthinkable to lie in order to conceal a rape in a hospital ward. To know that this is "policy" defies belief. Sad

mistyoak · 27/03/2022 09:27

Rape concealment policies on NHS wards. It’s like a nightmare.

Good for the Torygraph and Times for highlighting these stories. I know the Telegraph are taking / have taken Russian money. At least they’re doing something good now. Someone has to stick up for women’s rights.

Mistygreyeyes · 27/03/2022 09:35

Tories definitely need voting out at the next election. All these horrendous things done on their watch. Surely as the government they have some say in how the NHS is managed.

Sure and replaced with the biggest misogynists going….Labour. Only the SNP beat Labour in their record for being women hating misogynists.
Mistygreyeyes · 27/03/2022 09:50

Lol tory policies don't affect women ? Austerity ?

ScreamingMeMe · 27/03/2022 09:51

Labour are fully on board with self ID.

Mistygreyeyes · 27/03/2022 09:51

Remind me who is in power enabling it all ?

Mistygreyeyes · 27/03/2022 09:54

Who is in power now ? Disabled women, poor working class women affected by austerity and their current policies enabling this..but labour worse Confused

mistyoak · 27/03/2022 09:54

This happened under the Tories watch!

Mistygreyeyes · 27/03/2022 10:01

@ScreamMeMe you think the tories give a shiny shit about women. Believe me - if the tories discovered that most people did not care about self ID they'd sell women down the river anyway.

Waitwhat23 · 27/03/2022 10:03

Here, our 'feminist to her fingertips' First Minister, the head of a 'progressive' Government, has told women who have concerns about GRA reform and the introduction of self id that their concerns 'aren't valid'.

ScreamingMeMe · 27/03/2022 10:06

No I don't, but voting out the tories and voting in Labour won't fix this problem - if anything it will get worse. Labour are fully, enthusiastically on board with self ID, and shout down anyone who tries to point out the problems.

Mistygreyeyes · 27/03/2022 10:12

@ScreamingMeMe so no opinions about tory management of trans issues, their horrendous treatment of disabled people and austerity which affects millions. Wow.

Towelseverywhere · 27/03/2022 10:20

It’s something that I think about a lot, also the issues around lia Thomas. But still, sometimes when I do, I can hardly believe this is the situation we are in, it sometimes catches me unaware even though I am well versed in the issues, simply because the whole thing is totally and completely Unbelievable. If someone had told me 20 years ago we would be in this situation I just wouldn’t have believed them because it’s so complete ridiculous. And also dangerous.

mistyoak · 27/03/2022 10:36

How to feel safe going into hospital now, though? Even with a change of government, rape denying policies could put many sick and vulnerable women and girls at risk of sexual abuse.

This policy is a direct route to exploitation ffs!

Of all the issues that might crop up - I’d never think this could be one of them.

Lemonyfuckit · 27/03/2022 11:29

I am just raging and raging at the utter gross wrongness of all of this, and the fact that this is happening before our very eyes and STILL we're the ones in the wrong, for our 'hateful bigoted' views.
This is just plain wrong.

EndaDay · 27/03/2022 11:43

It could be a Conservative goverment, a Labour goverment, a Liberal goverment or an SDP goverment.

Every single one of these fuckers believe in all this shite. The Tories are the best of a bad bunch in this regard but the bunch is a shit one and they are shit too.

I think there is no coming back from this now. This thinking is here to stay. Many women-especially younger ones- call themselves allies and that will only grow as today's primary aged children are brought up to believe that a man can be a woman simply if he feels he is.

LittleWhingingWoman · 28/03/2022 09:14

More news on this today

"Eleanor Melvin, whose LinkedIn describes her as a Mental Health Specialist Practitioner with the Coventry and Werwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, deleted her Twitter after sparking massive outrage with her comment.

Replying to Twitter user Ermine Amiess_ and Baroness Nicholson, Melvin wrote: "It's horrendous that she was raped. Though, your transphobic views are wrong. The NHS were not lying, there was no male on the ward. She was raped by a woman."

So Melvin thinks we are all transphobic for understanding that a man has raped a woman. Instead she wishes to redefine rape as something women do. This is outrageous.

Yes - what a grim reality - male sexual predators enabled and fawned over by narrow minded and naive young women who proudly wear their badges and wave their flags - transactivists. Hardcore gender believers.

They will learn the hard way.

By dismantling the safeguarding that women have sweated blood and tears over to protect our children - these hardcore gender activists have simply served themselves and our children up on platters.

However it won't protect them from what is coming next. Overlooked for promotions, still earning less, avoided at work because of the drama - their bodies still used and discarded by the woke bros they cling to for approval. The TW they champion hold them in contempt, irritated by their obsession with them. They think it's a non stop episode of drag race with safe gay guys fabulously dressed.

If only. If only it was all an episode of POSE. Beautiful effeminate gay men with chiffon and glitter. Sanitised.

The tawdry reality is that predatory men will use any tool, any excuse, any door.

I suppose there is some hope that the trans community themselves will stand up against male sexual predators. Maybe the only voices that will be heard and listened to on this will end up being Transwomen.

In other words, the voices of biological males.

But its NOT a LD, Lab or SNP Govt is it? there is no parallel universe, so we can only judge the Tories after 12 years in Government.

This really is as bad as it gets when the Govt allows the NHS to behave in such ways and has not introduced any legislation to prevent it happening in the first place.

We also have the scandal of womens maternity services, affecting far more and widely than trans, so according to Jeremy Hunt, 3000, yes 3000 additional baby deaths caused by poor treatments plus their record on rape investigations and bringing to trial... takes 3 years :(

My view is we have to wait and see what each parties record is on this and look at their manifesto's before saying any opposition is better or worse.
