To think my friend's son is a prat?

He's 27 and unvaccinated. He's never had covid.

He thinks he can travel to Tenerife this weekend when the rules clearly stipulate that unvaccinated people need to show they've had covid in the last 6 months - he can't prove that.

His mum and I think he should rearrange the trip.

What will happen at the airport? Will he get refused entry to the gate? Or will he get to Tenerife and then get turned back?

I haven't flown abroad since the pandemic so not sure when they check the vaccination / medical status.

He is a real prat - he always thinks he knows better than anyone else and rules don't apply to him. I am half hoping that he does get his comeuppance with this

We've recently flown to another European country and didn't have to show proof of vaccination until we landed. From what I understand you'll be taken to have a pcr test at your cost on arrival at your destination

@Useranon1, lad

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 23/03/2022 21:34

Adults cannot use a negative pcr to travel to Spain!! It's vaccinated or proof of recovery in the last 6 months. Also if you've only had two jabs you need to have had the second one within the last 270 days otherwise need a booster.

Okbutnotgreat · 23/03/2022 21:40

I thought I heard on the news earlier that all covid restrictions are being dropped in the Canaries from Thursday. Maybe this will include unvaccinated traveling?

winterchills · 23/03/2022 21:41

He's definitely a pray!! You can say a big told you so

winterchills · 23/03/2022 21:41

Prat**

Pipsquiggle · 23/03/2022 21:47

Hi thanks for the info. Sounds like he won't be going.

Just to answer a few queries.

I met my (older) friend today, she was all of a dither and distracted. I asked what was up and then she told me about her son and this trip to Tenerife and not being vaccinated.

My friend is lovely but really not tech savvy - she doesn't have email and really struggles on the internet.

In less than 2 mins I found this link
www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements
and told her it was unlikely her son would be going.

She then rang her son up and told him to look up the regulations. He was really dismissive, said he knew best etc. This is typical of his behaviour, I won't go into it, that would be another thread. We have both said he's a bloody stubborn man

I am really not invested in this. My friend wanted to know where he could be turned back - either in the UK or Tenerife.

I love the suggestion of making sure we are drinking when he is getting to the airport so we can't bail him out.

I am afraid I won't be able to update you on this until Monday

We travelled to Spain at half term with Jet2.

We were verbally asked about our vaccination status and that of or teens aphelion we did our bag drop, after passport control in Malaga we had to queue to show our Spanish passenger locator forms. Everyone’s temperature was taken and a random selection were asked to show their NHS covid vaccination pass.

Then we were allowed to collect our luggage!

Please let us know how he gets on @Pipsquiggle

Mackinawry · 23/03/2022 21:48

That’s a bit silly

caoraich · 23/03/2022 21:51

We're just back from Lanzarote, flew from Scotland. A couple ahead of us had all sorts of problems with their covid passes at check in - they were trying to show photos of paper passes and got sent away to download the app properly.

I had a disaster and lost my phone at the boarding gate. When we arrived in Spain of course I didn't have my Spanish form as I hadn't printed it out, they let my partner and daughter through as his was on his phone. They did let me sit to one side and download it again on his phone (thank god I remembered my login for the covid passport!) As it was pretty clear I was having a disaster and they knew I wouldn't have been allowed to board without it they were nice to me, but they sat me there til I had the right code to be scanned and were very clear I wasn't getting into Spain without it.

Watapalava · 23/03/2022 21:56

He has fake covid pass

es just not advertising it

He'll make out he got in without check but reality is its £250 on insta for someone to load double vax status on your app (people recruit vax centre workers for it). Its easy to get, he's sorted

SouthernFashionista · 23/03/2022 22:01

He’ll be fine. All Covid restrictions being scrapped there from Thursday so you will now have to eat your words.

SouthernFashionista · 23/03/2022 22:03

Ooops, I take it back. I see he will still need to be vaxed. Hmm

My nephews friend was the exact same, went to one of the euro matches last year at Wembley, caught covid, spent two weeks on a ventilator. Perfectly healthy 22 year old lad, fit as a fiddle but covid liked his lungs unfortunately.
Summerfun54321 · 23/03/2022 22:07

If you can’t come to an online forum to slag off a random prat then what is the internet for?

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 23/03/2022 22:35
@sparepantsandtoothbrush I'm pro choice, not anti-vaxx, my vaccinations are up to date. Please educate yourself.
What am I supposed to be educating myself about? A random stranger's stance on vaccines? Hilarious!

You brought that up when it was quite obvious the OP was talking about whether he could go to Tenerife rather than whether he should have had his jabs

Kanaloa · 23/03/2022 22:46

Educate yourself babes x I personally know the vaccination status and opinions of every single person who has ever posted on mumsnet. Just educate yourself.

Holskey · 23/03/2022 22:52

Following to find out what happens. Don't let us down with the update OP! Grin

Where do you get this news from? I live in Spain and haven't heard that? Good if you're right!

Pretty sure people still need to be fully vaccinated.

Don't know why, but I'm shocked you can buy your covid pass Angry
