To think my friend's son is a prat?

He's 27 and unvaccinated. He's never had covid.

He thinks he can travel to Tenerife this weekend when the rules clearly stipulate that unvaccinated people need to show they've had covid in the last 6 months - he can't prove that.

His mum and I think he should rearrange the trip.

What will happen at the airport? Will he get refused entry to the gate? Or will he get to Tenerife and then get turned back?

I haven't flown abroad since the pandemic so not sure when they check the vaccination / medical status.

He is a real prat - he always thinks he knows better than anyone else and rules don't apply to him. I am half hoping that he does get his comeuppance with this

He is a prat but I'm just back from Lanzarote and neither my husband or I had to show our vaccine passports once so he could technically manage to get in!

Do you not need to take a test if not vaccinated ?although I admit I don’t know country to country . Leave him to it op he’s a adult and if he’s not going to find out if you need to take a test or proof of vaccine then it’s lesson learnt for him . Any idiot knows you check the rules before you fly .

Jet2 wouldn’t let us check in without checking our vaccination status (including teen DS). We were checked on entry to the canaries and a few bars etc wanted to see our certificates once there.
This was about a month ago.

He's an adult and quite able to Google the requirements of travel either on the UK government, Tenerife travel, or airline websites.
Leave him to his adventures and see where his naivety gets him, don't waste your head space on it!

He’s older than I am and I have four kids, a mortgage and a job and am studying at uni. If he can’t organise a holiday and find the very readily available information online I don’t know why you or his mum is bothering to give it a second’s headspace. Let him go and get turned back.

Can you clarify, do you think he's a pratt because he actually acts like one or because he's unvaccinated? If it's because he's unvaccinated - it's you that's the prat, if you've got your vaccination then why are you scared ???
A prat because hes unvaccinated and thinks he will get into tenerife despite the clear rules

Very likely they'll deny him boarding. When flying back out to Germany from London a few weeks back, the airline said you weren't allowed to board unless you had an ffp2 mask as they are required in Bayern. One poor sod had to manic dash back to the main departure area to buy one.

I live in Spain and travel back to the uk loads, he will be checked before boarding as the airline will be fined . If he does some how manage to get on the flight he'll be denied access with his Spanish locator form . They don't mess about in Spain and are very strict. He also might like to know masks are still mandatory inside all establishments with no exception. He's got a shock in for him Grin
