When will the rules change as I completely agree this is unfair and I expect that you will all largely agree with me.

For anyone that doesn't agree, please explain your reasoning to help me better understand.

This reminds me of the weightlifting story from last year.

People that are born female and people who are born male should not be competing in these events together. Our physical bodies are not comparable.

Have as many genders as you can think of, but there are only two possible sexes that you can be born as and that is what eligibility in these competitions should be based on.

This is just a mantra. What does it even mean?

No human has ever been born with both sets of fully functioning reproductive organs.

Cis is the term made up to force team women in with men.

Women is the term needed for women.

Men is the term needed for men.

Using cis makes it look like trans and cis are parts of the same woman circle. They are not.

Out of interest I looked up the state qualifying times for 100m freestyle in our part of Australia.

To qualify:
11 year old girls - 104.4 sec
11 year old boys - 102.4

15 year old girls - 102.5
15 year old boys - 58.2

17-19 year old girls - 102.0
17-19 year old boys - 55.5

Even at 11 boys who are fast are faster than girls, but after puberty boys’ qualifying times are 6.5 sec faster than those of girls. 6 seconds is a life time in swimming.

This is a travesty.

I cannot believe the other swimmers have not boycotted the whole event. It is an absolute disgrace that this has been allowed.

Why should they ? they have trained all their lives to reach this level of competition.

I would argue that they are doing more to highlight the discrepancy by continuing to race than they would if they didn't race at all.

He is a man masquerading as a woman to camouflage his cheating.

I find the term 'cis' highly offensive. If we are all supposed to say TWAW based on feelings then I woukd like TRA to extend the same courtesy to women.

I don't think Caitlyn Jenner deserves any kudos for calling this out in sport since Caitlin took an opportunity away from a biological women when Caitlyn accepted Glamour women of the year.

It's exactly the same as Lia. One in sport the other in general achievement.

Trans women are women and I’m happy to refer to Lia Thomas as she wishes to be referred to. However there are some exceptions and we can do this in way that is respectful and fair.

If trans women are women, how do we identify the exceptions?

To say that transwomen are anything but transwomen is a fantasy.
To say that all women are "cis" women is breaking one of the major tenants of trans activism by mis gendering someone.

I like many others am the sex that I was born, I do not identify as a gender.

So why do you and many others insist on mis gendering people?

I frequently share this in these discussions. The track and field world records for women and those for teenage boys.

14 and 15 year old boys, who are still in the midst of puberty so have not even reached their full potential, are capable of beating the world records set by adult women who have had the full benefit of additional years of training and nutritional support.

Your infertility condition is recognisable as such entirely because it has occurred in a female body and could not occur in a male one. It's worse than pretzel logic. It's head up arse non-logic.

It literally makes you no less of a woman, and absolutely not a man.

Exactly, as I pointed out, most TW are fertile males, at least until they started taking cross sex hormones and often beyond. They're not the same as women who have medical reasons for infertility.
