When will the rules change as I completely agree this is unfair and I expect that you will all largely agree with me.

For anyone that doesn't agree, please explain your reasoning to help me better understand.

This reminds me of the weightlifting story from last year.

People that are born female and people who are born male should not be competing in these events together. Our physical bodies are not comparable.

Have as many genders as you can think of, but there are only two possible sexes that you can be born as and that is what eligibility in these competitions should be based on.

YANBU. And it's happening in other sports too.
LT has gone through complete male puberty and has a complete male physique. Also competed in male swimming up until a year or so ago. Depressing testosterone at this late stage does very little to suppress his already very apparent physical advantages over the female competitors. He doesn't need to try much to win in the female category.
It's appalling for those girls to have to share their changing and shower area with LT, and to be denied their true places in the competition.
But it's happening in other sports too.

There are male and female categories in sport for comprehensively sound scientific reasons. Males should not be accommodated in the female category.

The pp who said that maybe LT's psychology has made them a winner is actually quite correct. It's a psychology that thinks that their needs matter more than any other person. (Indeed their needs matter than all the other persons). A psychology that literally (if the erect penis in the changing room is anything to go by) gets off out of gaslighting others and controlling the narrative. A psychology that is so fundamentally unempathetic and selfish that actually it surely must veer into psychological disorder.

It’s possible you are thinking of the Wii Spa incident in LA where a transwoman exposed their semi-erect penis to women and minor girls, including an 8 year old girl, in the spa’s women’s facilities. It is a Korean spa with both sex-segregated facilities, where visitors are naked, and mixed-sex space where visitors are clothed. After several women formally complained to police, the transwomen was identified following investigation as a serial sex offender. Go figure, hey? 🤷‍♀️ It hit the news because the women filmed complaining at reception were slated on social media and in publications like the Guardian as dreadful transphobes. In that case too the sex offender was working completely within the lawful inclusion of transwomen in women’s single sex spaces (Californian state law).

I’m not at all transphobic, but I agree that having a trans female complete against a female in sport is not a level playing field. Maybe there should be a category for trans athletes?

When he wins next year can the event planners ensure to make the final be on national woman’s day pleasseee cos this is the only thing that could make it even more unbelievable than it already is.

There should be separate sporting competitions for transgender athletes. In the same way Paralympics have a distinct disadvantage in most sports against able bodied athletes, trans women should not be able to compete against women. Because they are men with a physical advantage.

And if there was a separate category for trans people it would be interesting to see if people like Lia would want to take part, they might feel a bit miffed at not having an automatic pathway to first place if they had to compete against other competitors who shared their physical advantages . After all, it is clear that for Lia it is not the taking part that matters, it is the winning.

A male. Look at the size of the chest, the broad shoulders for goodness sake. Also the penis, which I understand Lia flashes at the girls in the changing room and makes them uncomfortable. The girls get told tough. That's not a world I want my daughter growing up in, flashed at and her discomfort ignored, gaslit by being told it's not a problem because it's a woman's penis.

Look at the videos, it's all in the arms, hardly any splash from the legs because Lia is cruising, barely even trying. Look at the legs of the female swimmers and see how hard they're working. Lia is phoning it in and STILL winning. Lia is most likely pulling back because they won a previous race by 38 SECONDS. If that happened at the NCAA it would become too big to ignore.

From a shit man swimmer to a women's champion just by being on some drugs that have not affected the heart, the lungs, the shape, the muscle etc. Still at a higher testosterone level than women, the kind of level that would have a woman investigated for doping. But a male gets to beat women, and is celebrated for it.

I wonder how far they’ll let this go? When a Womens’ Olympic Final is run entirely by ‘Trans Women’ (entire men) will that be enough of a light bulb moment for the authorities to come back to reality?

I’m glad I’m old. I can’t lie about what I see and what I know to be true. If a man wants to be a ‘woman’ (or what they perceive to be ‘being a woman’) fine, crack on. But the truth is you’re still physically a man so have the common decency to keep out of our safe spaces and our sport.

My daughter feels strongly about trans rights and we have had this conversation. My arguments were:

1. Whilst I support trans rights in general I’m afraid the right to compete in professional sports has to be the sacrifice they are willing to make.
2. You won’t see a trans man competing in any male sports where strength/size is the main requirement
3. In the case of a trans woman and identifying as a woman, shouldn’t they have empathy for what it is like being a woman at a physical disadvantage to men and be ultra sensitive to it, let alone seek to exploit it?

Absolutely fucking outrageous! My only hope is that in a few years everyone will look back with the kind of clarity we now have over something like the lobotomy craze of the 50s/60s.

No man, however he identifies (whatever that even means) should ever be in any women's space whether it's toilets, sports, prisons, refuges idgaf. Women only.

No argument from me. I think it is completely wrong and hugely disrespectful of the rest of the team, though pales into insignificance against the sheer gall of their cheating. Actually, the whole thing is an outrage.

There is an article where other swimmers are saying that LT is exposing their genitals and is clearly still attracted to women. That is where I got the erect penis from. I will try and find it.

The women who change with lia have made it as clear as they can that their behaviour in the changing room makes them very uncomfortable

I haven’t read the whole thread in detail. Has anyone linked to the article/podcast (can’t remember precisely what it was) from the mother of one of the female swimmers? Very powerful stuff.

From 400 to 1st, how convenient. Womens sport is effectively dead, we now just have mens and trans. Being angry here is not enough. Women need to organise and protest against this or before we know it we will back in the home with no votes and no rights (and the far right in the States and elsewhere, is working in the shadows on this as we speak) We make up half of the world's population, maybe more, we have a voice and we should be using it. Labels, identities, they just keep us in the trees so we stop seeing the wood. Push back against the transphobic label; your lack of ego integrity is not my responsibility to fix.
