a bunch of adult men acting like little kids turns my stomach. More worrying is my DH watches the pile of crap.

I love it, and I love JC's columns in the Times too. It is his sarcasm and his humour. Makes me

hermykne · 05/01/2008 21:44

cant stand it, its so srcipted and "look at me " and "catch my eye" poncy rubbish.

pinkmook · 05/01/2008 21:44

I have to say, I agree with stripeymama and shaniece...its awful, juvenile twaddle and I'd like to smack jeremy clarkson in the gob!Esp since he promotes the "lets all hate cyclists" thing....arse.

Minum · 05/01/2008 21:45

Clarkson has no points on his licence - the speeding on the program is all off road, in a controlled environment

Sidge · 05/01/2008 21:45

I love it. It makes me laugh A LOT. Very little TV does that.

And whilst I agree that Jeremy Clarkson is a Marmite bloke (love him or hate him) one thing he is not is sexist. He never slates women, and if you read his books he never cracks jokes about women drivers.

But no, YANBU to hate TG. Life would be dull if we all liked the same things. I detest soaps and think the people that watch them regularly are tedious.

Bizarre thing is, my DH is a cyclist and still loves Clarkson and his gang .

pinkmook · 05/01/2008 21:50

That is bizarre! must be in a minority...my dh a cyclist too. Clarkson is like a big old boorish bully imo! (ducks before clarkson lovers attack!!)

Snaf · 05/01/2008 21:50

Anyone who takes anything Jeremy Clarkson says even remotely seriously needs to have a word with themselves.

Pannacotta · 05/01/2008 21:51

I think its a testosterone-driven pile of shite!
Am very surprised that my DH can bear to watch it.
Cannot stand any of the presenters, esp the fat one - Jeremy Clarkson, he is truly obnoxious and awful!

pinkmook · 05/01/2008 21:52

Ah that old turnip....."he's only joking"

fishie · 05/01/2008 21:52

i think one either likes that very obvious humour or not. i don't, but not my reason for laothing. it is the encouragement of viewers to speed and generally behave badly that pisses me off.

Iota · 05/01/2008 21:53

How could you not ROFL at the sight of Clarkson folded up into the Peel P50 microcar, driving around the Top Gear Office?

procrastinatingparent · 05/01/2008 21:54

Not interested in cars. At all.

But love watching TG, reminds me of my male friends messing about. I really like the fact that it is something on tv which is not aimed at girls, where (admittedly often totally pathetic) male humour can reign.

binklegoestoLondon · 05/01/2008 21:55

same old same old...every single week..

TellusMater · 05/01/2008 21:56

DH also watches 'Fifth Gear' (for VBH I reckon) - and that is dull. But Top Gear makes me laugh. A lot.

NorthernLurker · 05/01/2008 21:56

Well I think YABU - because I love it

pinkmook · 05/01/2008 21:56

its the worst side of maleness imo and agreed fishie, the encouragement of stupid behaviour pisses me off

Easywriter · 05/01/2008 21:59

YANBU

Clarkson!!! [makes me wanna puke emoticon]

Cars! [Bored sh*tless emoticon]

My idea of hell.

pinkmook · 05/01/2008 22:00

Easywriter=makes me rofl

Clarkson et al = makes me want to eat my own eyeballs out my head then I dont have to watch them

Shaniece · 05/01/2008 22:01

pinkmook - i like you and agree obv

pinkmook · 05/01/2008 22:03

Why thank you Shaniece...I think you have excellent opinions too![mutual appreciation emoticon]

Magdelanian · 05/01/2008 22:03

YANBU, Dont mind a programme about cars but they are a bunch of kids presenting it. FFS the fact that one of them nearly died hasnt even prevented their juvenile and crass presenting.

hecticmum · 05/01/2008 22:03

Another non-driver here who loves it! If they were only half as 'boorish' they'd be easy to take seriously but as it is, anyone who genuinely thinks its ok to copy them needs their head testing! I do feel for Hammond's family a bit but a lot of people in dangerous entertaining jobs have families that have to put up with it, those 3 are no better or worse than many others.

pinkmook · 05/01/2008 22:05

as an aside..one of my friends actually fancies clarkson wtf!!?

Snaf · 05/01/2008 22:06

Pinkmook - I didn't say he was only joking. I said don't take him seriously. Not the same thing at all.
