I really love the smell of petrol. My DH thinks I'm mad (because poisonous etc). I think tar smells nice too. Am I the only one?

Christmas crackers - nothing like sticking your nose right on for a good whiff of a freshly popped cracker Grin
Yes! Crackers smell amazing. What is it??

Sawdust also smells good and the mystery collection of smells that makes up my dad’s workshop including wood, solvent, damp and who knows what.

I like the smell of nail varnish too.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 17/03/2022 20:15

Another rubber lover. When I was a kid in Australia there was a shop that sold rubber goods (no, not like that). I’d make any excuse to go in and sniff. Mac does a perfume that smells of rubber (purple top)
Old fashioned coal tar soap.

Longingforatikihut · 17/03/2022 20:17

Chlorine - love the smell of it on my skin after swimming.
Tar makes me feel really ill.

Cakecakeandcake · 17/03/2022 20:24

I crave smells, chlorine, new shoes smells, bleach, baby bath. It usually gets worse when my iron levels are low.

NewYearCalavicci · 17/03/2022 20:27

@duckme

And the old gloss paint, the higher the VOC, the better.
High VOC you say , get a whiff of this , it'll knock your socks off .

Its great paint to use and has a very high tough gloss but by god it stinks !

I'll keep my humourless feminist rant to myself then

As you were Grin

NewYearCalavicci · 17/03/2022 20:37

Linseed oil / putty
fresh plastered walls
tarmac
night scented stock ( flowers )
I dont like the smell of a lot of other flowers though , particularly orchids and hyacinths .

eddiemairswife · 17/03/2022 20:44

Creosote. Not the stuff used now, but what was used decades ago, probably carcinogenic, but it was the smell of Summer.

Ginandcrispsarebliss · 17/03/2022 20:45

I have been told I am strange as I love the smell of horse manure. I moved from London to a Village and my house backs onto fields. Not sure why I love the smell.
Nothing to do with the thread but when I Popped to the fish and chip shop earlier a huge tractor was parked outside. Still getting use to living in the country 10 years on.

Ginlovingmumof4 · 17/03/2022 20:46

When I was pregnant with DD2 I could have worked as at forecourt attendant - I craved the smell of petrol! Have always loved the creosote, paint, marker pen type smells!

Ohyesiam · 17/03/2022 20:46

Creosote on a hot summers day, ahh, heaven.

A580Hojas · 17/03/2022 20:51

New carpet and carpet shops.

Tomato plants in a hot green house.

Very old fashioned magic marker pens (they came in a little glass jar when I was at primary school).

Imperial leather talcum powder.
